Pulled a 92 Kam out of a League Master Pack this morning. My best pull so far.

Pro Packs have been great for flipping Golds and taking the bronze/silver players to make the Team Sets. Not the best ROI on the Team Sets but they are easy to make and you need to complete 90 sets to get the 99 Odell.

I think I need to start focusing on the Captains Sets which will require more than what Pro Packs can do for me this time. Cheap sniping of Gold and Elite base players to complete the set.
That's a good pull. I pulled the 9/12 mystery box, that I hear is going to be Herman Moore. Was hoping it would be Barry... I have 4 team sets remaining, not sure how I'm going to get Captain sets done - will probably need to wait until base elites are cheap. My first one will likely be the Pats - I pulled the Ninkovich collectible and I have Edelman and all the golds. I just need 2 elite trophies.

Ended up selling the Kam last night for 600,000. Insane money for not a super great card. His normal card is going for about 125,000. The +1 AWR isn't worth not selling right now.

Used a bit of that coin to pick up a couple of Elite trophies to finish out the Flashback Player set. Pulled a nice 89 Santonio Holmes with +1 CAT and coin boost. Not a single one in my AH, so put him up for a million dollars to see if I get a bite.

Getting 90 sets done for OBJ is going to be tough. I agree that those Captain sets are impossible right now. Going to have to wait until base elites come down in price. I have started sprinkling in the lowest of Golds that I'm not getting good value in the AH.

Sooo....if I wanted to jump into this green what's the general "early strategy" if you don't plan on spending actual $?

You got the first thing correct. Don't spend actual money. You can have a blast for free.

Work the Live Events, first completion of each one has a nice coin bonus. Play the season. Each win is 1500 coins and pretty easy for the first season or two.

Use your coin on Pro Packs. Do not buy any of the special packs, the ROI doesn't work out in your favor. Each Pro Pack comes with the very least one Gold player, 2 Silver Players and 2 Bronze players.

Use the Gold players to better your team. Use the Silver and Bronze players to complete sets. If you get extremely lucky in a Pro Pack and pull an Elite, check and see what he is going for in the Auction House and sell to make your team overall better.

All the fun is in the grind up to a great team. Once you get a high 90s team across the board, I find it not to be as much fun.

Once you fire up, if you have specific questions, just fire them up here.

If you get extremely lucky in a Pro Pack and pull an Elite, check and see what he is going for in the Auction House and sell to make your team overall better.
At what point does keeping the elite player become the play?

Less than an Overall Team Rating of X=Sell, Greater than an Overall Team Rating of X = Keep?

There are lots of approaches - my preference is to put guys in my starting lineup if they work there, and then sell the guy they replaced (or put that guy in sets). YMMV

That's one way to look at it, but at the early stage I'd assume selling off the elite is going to allow you to insert multiple players into your starting lineup than are better than what you've already got. Was wondering out loud more about when that generally stops being the best bet. A certain team rating? When all your starters are rated at least X? Something else? etc, etc.

I don't think there is a general rule of thumb. The upside of selling your best players now is that you'll be able to rebuy the same guys in a few months for 33% of the current price.

My theory is that it is better to have a core set of studs. The alternative you are proposing is effectively trading an A for multiple B's. Not a bad strategy - just different. Also, I'm not patient enough to spend too much time buying things in the auction house, so my strategy also allows me to skip that for the most part.

Jeezuz...there's, like, a million of these sets to keep track of.

More questions:

Live Events- Just burn through your stamina on those every day in early stages regardless of which are unlocked yet?

Beginner Pack worth wasting coins on, or just hold off to go after the Pro?

play each live event at least once. First win gives bonus rewards. And you get collectables from winning so many.

Agreed.

You also want to win the warm up exactly once every day. Your first win of the day gets you a card, seven cards gets you a pro pack.

I'd avoid domination events for now - they are hard with a very good team, impossible if you are just starting.

In terms of your stamina, I usually try to see what is coming and time it appropriately. Meaning that if I see a great event in two hours, I'll burn myself down to total stamina minus 12 so I'm fully loaded when that event starts.

Last thing on stamina: keep a close eye on how far you are from finishing a level. When you do, you get a stamina refresh. I try to be at zero when I level up.

On sets: the team ones (under players) are good early as you might pick up a few starters.

Maybe I'm blind....but can guys actually get hurt in this? Not seeing that touched on anyplace. If not, then I assume backups are pretty much superfluous and should be sold/traded.

No injuries.

The only benefits I'm aware of for backups is if you have a "specialist" that helps you beat certain challenges:

For example, a HB with a lot of trucking would be good to beat the obstacle. It is also good to have a second TE that you can put in the slot for TE receiving challenges.

I also have two punt returners - the 90 (or 91 I can't remember) Earl Thomas that I use in season games or for punt return challenges, and the 70-something but with 1% XP bonus Percy Harvin that I leave in my starting lineup when I know I won't need a punt returner, just for the boost.

Sometimes you keep specialists because they are fun....

I love using my 65 Tebow for QB sneaks in season mode; I use Vick for QB Draw....

I've managed to screw up the sets already. :) Didn't realize once you put a guy into one, you can't take him out unless you replace with another. Oh well. Not like I'm paying for this.

The controls are....quirky. Not that it's limiting me in the season stuff. So far in these early games it seems if you just run the hell out of the ball it's an easy W, even with the limited talent I have available. In the Live Events? More trouble there on some of the skill based events(like quick changes of direction/obstacles cours type stuff/etc.)

If you tap the card in the set, it should come out.

Kard, force close on the Dom events and they're a lot easier...meant to mention that in league chat.
Good point. Not sure they were beatable with a team rated in the 60's even with that though. That's Madden 301 though, and 5-ish is still in his Intro to Madden class :)

Explain this.
Before the play ends exit the app and close it.Double tap the home button and swipe up on the app in iOS, not sure what it is in android...think they've got like a task manager?
Right, but what does that do? Why does that help on the Dom events?
It tricks the game into not realizing the play happened, as long as you do it before the tackle is made, the ball falls incomplete, or the touchdown is scored.

So how would you apply this to today's domination event? I've spent 20 stamina on this thing already and haven't passed it yet.

Throw deep balls. If the ball gets picked force close before you tackle the defender. Also, if the ball is going to fall incomplete, force close then too.

For me, that first pass gets me down to the 20-30 yard line with 35-38 seconds left. Success rate from there has been high.

Cool. I'll give that a shot once I get some stamina back.

The domination trick works...and then some.

I drove down the field and scored with two seconds left, kicked the extra point and went up by one point. Decided not to squib it because sometimes those things make a beeline for the sideline. Kicked it off right down the middle, the KR and the rest of his posse had a scrum with my guys at around the 20, then he emerged from the pile and started running down the field like Forrest Gump. Once I knew I couldn't catch him I closed the app and then force quit it. Fired it back up and I was at the screen where I had to choose which type of kick off I wanted to do. Squibbed it and some fat guy picked it up. Game. Set. Match.

P.S. Our league needs to step it up.

Agreed on our league - I'm trying to keep the no shows out, but even the guys who play aren't putting up good scores.

I'm one card away from Gronk - I'd really like to finish it off so I can play the other live games.

If our guys show up, we usually win

Showing up is key

The one that baffle me are when they do 1 or 2 drives....holy crap, just do them all and be done

Pecking away at this the last few days and I have to say....I'm sort of "meh" about it. Controls are a little odd and it's just as repetitive as all the other "pay to win" stuff out there.

Still going to give it a bit more time, as I've only had limited attempts at some of the features(auction house, head to head, some of the live events), but the NFL/Madden brand is only holding my interest so much.

I haven't completed the NFL News set yet, but I already have about 8 duplicates. Is there any reason to hold on to these or should I be quick selling them?

Looks like there was a glitch this morning where you could get 5 Dom Gronks for the cost of 5 Bronze Trophies. A bunch of guys jumped on it and at the very least are trying to complete their Patriots Captain set before EA fixes the glitch.

Hate it not catching this one. I'm no where near getting my Gronk legit.

been playing this a while but still don't really understand the best strategy

Flipping these mystery boxes is making me some coins
what does this mean?
You get Mystery Boxes in Pro Packs or doing Live Events if you are extremely lucky. You can then sell them in the Auction House for coins.

or

You find Mystery Boxes in the Auction House at a price cheaper than they should be, buy them up and sell them in the same Auction House for more coins, essentially "flipping" the Boxes.

I would love an FBG Only League. I know kardplayer has offered up his league for FBG. What is the ratio of non-FBG to FBG guys in that league?

Right now, I'm kind of committed to my league for the next few days, we have almost finished the League Master set for getting OBJ. But could leave shortly for FBG glory.

I am in it, beyond that, not sure. We have had participation issues, but that seems to have been cleaned up.

I'm in as well.

I'm not sure which teams are FBG and which are not. Trying to get to 32 teams - there are 4 or 5 spots left.

We play daily tournaments so we can all get that cleared for OBJ. I suspect some guys will quit as soon as they get there.

There is very little play within the league as far as I can tell. We are all about tournies.

League is Season Score Chasers
