Best Ball (MFL10s, DRAFT, etc.) (4 Viewers)

1.02 Bell. The guy at 1.01 timed out and the computer gave him Odell. I might luck into some good picks if this person misses another pick.

2.11 Cobb. AJ Green went the pick before. Seems kind of late for Green.

3.02 Graham. I like to have a stud TE. I will be waiting a long time to take another.

4.11 Yeldon. Although I do like to reach for players this wasn't intended. Also, I do really like Yeldon but I meant to have him farther down in my list. My picks should've been Crowell then I had Joique Bell and Keenan Allan. In the end I am happy I got Yeldon.

5.02 Crowell. The RBs are getting hit hard so far and Crowell has a CHANCE to bellcow for the Browns.

6.11 Torrey Smith. I'm not a huge fan but it was too early for some of the other guys I like. Best ball format he should give me a couple solid weeks

7.02 Big Ben. Again I didn't like this pick but he's a top FF QB and I think there's going to be a run on QBs in the next 20 picks.

From this point on I think start just grabbing the guys I want regardless of perceived value.

8.11 Andre Williams. The RBs are very slim at this point and Williams could at least be the lead back in a committee. Likely going RB again with the next pick then probably be done with RBs.

9.02 David Cobb. Not as high on the player, or even the team, as I am the situation. Sankey failed to hold the starter spot and with a young QB they should be running the ball a ton.

10.11 Boldin. Very happy with this pick. Steve Smith went the pick before but I was trying to get Boldin and Smith on either side of the turn.

11.02 Crabtree. Still happy with this pick. His team will likely be playing from behind this lots this year and at worst he is their number 2 receiver.

12.11 Bowe. Looking for some garbage time magic.

13.02 Derek Carr. I wanted to wait a bit longer for my second QB but the pickings were already pretty slim. His buy week isn't the same as Ben's and I like Carr. I'm fine with my QBs now.

14.11 Dernard Robinson. If they decide not to use Yeldon as a workhorse or if he doesn't play well Robinson was 17th in YPC last year.

15.02 Rivera. Needed a second TE and I think HW could have a decent year in general.

16.11 Josh Robinson. Gore is old and they might be able to wear down defenses with this brute.

17.02 Dorsett. Might slip into a role as the 3rd.

18.11 Indy Def. Technical issues this pick wasn't supposed to happen. I don't really care about which defense I take.

19.02 Giants D. Actually really like them. Also, traded for JPP in a dyno a couple hours before the pick. 30 sack year for JPP, I'm calling it now.

20.11 Tyler Lockett. Lots of drops but does well with a moving QB.

There's MFL Zero's out today that if you win you get free entry into a money league next year.

Signed up for one single MFL Zero, for kicks... Just to get the taste in my mouth, then once I get a feel, Ill join the pay ones.

Drew the 12 spot, which is nice. I like b2b picks.

So far, DT, Lynch, Olsen, Yeldon

There's still a ton of jumping around. The ADP is all over the map. One thing I've noticed is that rookie WRs are going pretty early. I think last years class and the NFL draft been so recent might have people over valuing them right now.

The first round has been really varied in the three MFL Zeros I'm in.

1.01 Beckham, Odell NYG

Just joined another another MFL 10. Picking out of the 3 spot. So far I've had the 1 spot then the 2 and now the 3.

From the 3 spot;

1.03 Bell - 1 times out and gets OBJ, 2 takes Lacy. Bell goes to my squad again.

2.10 Cobb - Same start as the last one.

3.02 Hyde - Forgot about Bush going to SF. Thought this was a steal now it's just meh. Also, I had Gordon ahead of Hyde but he went the pick before.

4.10 Keenan Allan - Counting on him to keep a baseline while my later WRs are swings for the fences.

5.02 Kevin White - Took him over Cooper for best ball purposes.

Why Olsen so early, I got him 2 times and it was around round 7

9 "Timed Outs" and still in the middle of the 13th. And one guy has been on timed out Auto pick since round 10. I'm not even sure how they do the ADP picks.

Edit: I know it's based off of the ADP list but I've seen it not just take the highest player on the list.

Here's the real ADP rankings for MFL10s and such. The one they use on the League/Draft pages is all out of whack.

One other thing to note is, go after RB's early and often. By round 5 it's pretty much a boneyard. There might the odd back that has a high variance of opinions but I don't think I would feel good with any as my RB2. It's not often that a teams second or third RB will have a big game but it WRs it happens enough to wait until 3rd the to take your first and back fill with a lot of those WRs later. Going RB in 2 out of the first 3 is pretty much a must.

I was surprised to hear Bloom talk about waiting on RB until the 3rd-5th(I think for RB2) when discussing the 10s on one of is podcasts.

For me draft strategy morphs a great deal between early May and late August, but when I hear experts talk about MFL 10 strategy they make it sound more static then the way I see it. Strange.

Not the QBs I would've went with but I see your plan. The 12 spot looks a lot better than the #1 spot. As a suggestion, I would skip the last round pick up of your 4th defense but after 15 days, I would be drafting anyone just to get it over with. Those 8 hour "Time Outs" are terrible. They need to change it so that if someone times out 3 times they're done regardless of when it is. Still keep the bacl to back times gets the boot too.

I think that he is just really high on Gore but Gore's ADP is climbing now. Yeldon was in the range for a short period too but has climbed since. Crowell is an Audible favorite too.

Anyone who thinks things are going to be static for May until August isn't worth your time but I think most of the "Experts" also understand that if they don't pick side it doesn't create much conversation.

"Hey Dave, you think Kelvin Benjamin is going to have a big year?"

"I'm not really sure. Maybe."

That isn't to these people are just trying to be more entertaining but I think that sometimes they need to pick sides just to have a discussion that hopefully boils things down to a solid opinion.

As for MFL10s and such being a bit more static, I could probably agree with that. Guys like Kelvin Benjamin are going to be up and down players but in best ball you don't have to worry about if you should start him or not. That of guessing on sit/start every week alone is going throw his value all over the place. All the committee backs (a guy like Reggie Bush) also will move a bit a camp reports come out but whether he's in a 50/50, 60/40, 3rd down only role won't cause the same amount of sway in his Best Ball ADP because you don't need to worry that much about his weekly floor. Kind of the same thing as Benjamin I guess.

I dunno, you sign up for a slow draft you should expect a slow draft. I like the freedom to only check in a few times a day.

I was kind of shocked when the 8-hour clock ran out on a guy in the third round though. Didn't bother me, but it just seemed kind of odd. I've seen people care less about picks in the teens but never the third round before.

If they run out of time 2 times they auto pick for them. At least they did in the one I am in now

True.

It's interesting that some people tend to drop in and out of the draft so it's kind of rare in the leagues you actually pay for someone will just abandon the draft long enough to go full auto. It wasn't uncommon in those free leagues though.

Just had someone with back-to-back picks in a draft make one pick and leave the draft for an hour and we are still waiting on them to make their second pick. I think that bothers me even more than someone that may just be offline all day so his 8-hour clock expires.

Here's the real ADP rankings for MFL10s and such. The one they use on the League/Draft pages is all out of whack.

http://football.myfantasyleague.com/2015/adp?COUNT=64&POS=*&CUTOFF=5&FRANCHISES=12&IS_PPR=1&IS_KEEPER=3&IS_MOCK=0&TIME=

Here's the final totals from last year for RB/WR/TE in PPR leagues.

http://www.footballdb.com/fantasy-football/index.html?pos=RB%2CWR%2CTE&yr=2014&wk=all&ppr=1

Strange.
I think that he is just really high on Gore but Gore's ADP is climbing now. Yeldon was in the range for a short period too but has climbed since. Crowell is an Audible favorite too.Anyone who thinks things are going to be static for May until August isn't worth your time but I think most of the "Experts" also understand that if they don't pick side it doesn't create much conversation.

I wasn't very clear there.

I meant strategy in terms of, "you want X rb's, and Y te's, and" etc to be successful. The goals I have for my roster in May are very different in May and August. It's not a static formula for me like I have heard from some non-fbg podcasts.

Still disagree based what I heard from Bloom though, he is high on more guys than just Gore in the third and later.

How do I enter a free MFL 10 league where the winner gets entry into a pay league next year? Do all of them have this "feature" or is it just specific leagues with this prize at the end?

They're called MFL 0 leagues.

and they're done

I have 5 drafts starting today. Four 10's and a 25. First time ever doing these. Took Charles and 1.3 in one and Lacy at 1.6 in another. Only picks I've made thus far. Would love to hear some more insight for anyone who has completed a bunch of these.

Anything in particular you want to know?

The only real rule is that QBs go extremely late.

RBs usually thin out quickly. Best to have at least two solid options after 4 rounds.

WRs vary the most between drafts. Easy to forget about them picking QB and TE value, then you could be staring down Doug Baldwin and Dwayne Bowe as your WR3.

TEs are probably safest to wait on unless you love Gronk/Graham/Kelce/Olsen

Normal roster construction is 2/5/7/2/2 with 2 'flex' spots.
Thanks. I had to decide between Lacy or Gronk and took Lacy. I feel like I went the solid route and wondering because these only pay first place if going the solid route is not the way to go but take all big upside guys? No difference between 3rd place and 12 place.

I've done a few so far and my best lineup, imo, is still drafting going into the 15th round, but looks like this:

OBJMEGATRONGORECOOKSSPILLERRANDLEVEREENMATHEWSWITTENWRIGHTJ BROWNWALKERELISTAFFORD

That's Ryan Mathews, not Jordan.

After my first few drafts this year, I think back half of the draft going RB/RB is ridiculous. Your choice of Lacy, Mccoy, Lynch and Forte in the first, Murray and Foster in the second. Evans, Cooks, Hopkins, Watkins in the third. Benjamin, Cooper, Sanders, Edelman, Kelce in the fourth. Ive been targeting Martavis Bryant in the fifth and have gotten him pretty much in every draft.

Have you joined any MFL100s? If so, did you notice anything different about the way other people draft? Or just any differences in general?

The strategy that you're talking about about, is that like a per round strategy or a draft to draft strategy?

Do you have an idea of how many you want to do by the end of draft season? Or a max/min?

Do you have a max/min of drafts that you're doing at one time?

I'm in 9 drafts right now. Started all of them on Friday and Saturday. 1 has just finished, 1 is in about round 10, all the others somewhere in between. My observations:

-If you don't go RB early and often you're going to be thin at RB

-Gore always goes in round 3, often times early in the round

-Rookie RB's like Coleman, Abdullah go early around round 5. Yeldon even earlier than that

-Luck goes in round 2. Rodgers usually in round 3 but I snagged him in the 4th in one

-Devante Parker is going to be on top of the available wr list for a long time

-I got Forte in round 2 in one, he tends to be the top tier-ish rb that falls

-Graham goes in round 3, snagged him late round 3 in a few

-Bloom's article is helpful but the rounds some guys go are off. He has a lot of guys going later than they actually do

-Big Ben can last until the 9th sometimes but seen them go as high as 7th round

Just those for now off the top of my head.

I made my own database of all the MFL10s from last year and this year. I've looked at the winners drafts and roster makeups to get a sense of what works and what doesn't for the whole draft strategy. I go in with an optimal lineup of 3/5/7/3/2 for each draft and adjust on the fly.

I have up to the minute ADP and trends for this year as well as my own rankings for the per round strategy.
Did you look at how many teams won because of unsuspected guys (OBJ, Forsett, etc.)?

Did you see any trends in draft strategy from those winning teams? Maybe they all passed on top QBs or most had Gronk or they waited until late to fill out RB3-5?

Just got the 1.01 pick. Any suggestion? Edit: I mean pick plus the strategy to be used after that pick.

My plans so far based off of ADP.

Plan A

1) JC - Have Bell in a couple leagues already.

2) Forsett (Gordon is Forsett is gone)

3) Alshon/Evans/TY

4) Kelce (he's at 4.10)/Sammy

5) Andre

I think that gives me a solid 5 starters. I hate leading the draft.

Plan B

1) Gronk

2) Forsett

3) Gordon

4) Sammy

5) Andre

This plan really hinges on Forsett and Gordon still being there but Gronk early allows me to an extra shot at a RB later since I likely take 2 TEs instead of 3.

This is my 4th MFL10 and I've picked 1.01 (Gronk), 1.02 (Bell), 1.03 (Bell) and now 1.01 again.

Ugh. That sucks. I had the first pick in my first draft and I didn't like it. I went with AP first. I'm just starting my second draft today and I have the 4th pick which I'm much happier with.

Have a few guys in my MFL pay league that Id like to strangle right now. ALWAYS an excuse as to why they took 7.5hrs per pick, every damn round.

Sorry, if you are alive in 2015 and cannot make a damn pick, you should find a new hobby.

FWIW,I drew the 4 spot...

Started w Lacy, Gordon, Graham. Couldnt have asked for much better for a start... Im a WR heavy guy, but in this league, needed 2 have 2 bulls at RB, at least

Have you noticed rookie WRs going too early?
not in mine. at all.

I took cooper in the late 4th, admittedly, expecting a rookie run.. but no.

white in the 7th, parker 8th and so on. lots still on the board in the 14th round
