Rotoworld -

Yordano Ventura had to leave Monday's start against the White Sox due to a right thumb cramp.

Well, that's a relief. Ventura initially looked to be in a lot of pain, but the injury is minor and he's expected to be fine for his next outing. The right-hander was terrific before exiting, allowing just one run over six innings of work.

Matt Cain is :deadbanana:. Jake Peavy, too.

Giants pitcher Matt Cain will undergo an MRI on his right forearm after feeling tightness during his last start of spring training, manager Bruce Bochy said Monday per CSN Bay Area.

Cain's status for his scheduled start Wednesday is in question and if he can't go, either Tim Lincecum or a minor league pitcher would fill in, according to Bochy.

Cain missed half of the 2014 season with an elbow injury that required surgery. He posted a 5.40 ERA in four spring training starts.

Flexor strain has to be considered "good news", right?

“Got an MRI, very encouraged by the results," Braun said, per the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "Hopefully it’s something that’s only a day or two. It’s something I’m happy about.

“If I had to guess, I would say it’s more intercostal than it is oblique. But I’m not a doctor."

Manager Ron Roenicke said before Tuesday's game that he hopes Braun will be back in the lineup Wednesday.

(8 hrs ago) Giants first baseman Brandon Belt was forced out of Tuesday's contest against Arizona with a groin strain, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Belt came up lame after trying to catch a popup near the first base line in the bottom of the fourth inning. He lined out in the first and singled in the fourth before limping out of the game. He was replaced by Joaquin Arias.

After the game, manager Bruce Bochy told reporters that Belt will undergo an MRI on Wednesday to determine the extent of the injury. Belt is hitting .167 this season. Bochy acknowledged that he will have his Triple-A options on alert because he is lacking depth on the bench, per Comcast SportsNet Bay Area.

"I just don't think it's too bad right now in my opinion," Belt said, per the Bay Area News Group.

Braun pinch hit tonight and singled.

Good news!

Also, looks like he'll do it again today per CBS:

by Dave Peters | CBSSports.com

(9 hrs ago) Although the Brewers' Ryan Braun was not expected to play on Thursday, he was called on to pinch-hit in the ninth inning with two on and two out. Braun singled and drove in a run in the team's 5-4 loss to the Rockies. He is now batting .333 this season.

Twins right-hander Ricky Nolasco flew back to the Twin Cities on Thursday morning for tests on his ailing right elbow.

Nolasco reported the issue to team trainers before leaving the ballpark on Wednesday, when he failed to record any of the three batters he faced in the fourth inning of an 11-0 loss to the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park.

According to Twins manager Paul Molitor, Nolasco felt a little bit of a spike in his elbow while issuing a five-pitch leadoff walk to Alex Avila in the fourth.

Nolasco stayed on the mound to throw six more pitches to the next two batters, giving up an infield single to Jose Iglesias and a triple to Anthony Gose, before he was removed from the game.

Nolasco, 32, missed five weeks last season with a flexor strain near his right elbow. This pain was more in the elbow area itself, Molitor said.
