Tyranny - cruel and oppressive government or rule. And, when police kill innocent people... they don't receive the same treatment of a water cannon up their ###. Instead, they get paid leave and benefits. That is tyranny Unions, Plain and simple.
Cops in DC getting screamed at, lots of probable spit from the yelling, stuff being thrown at them.So many without masks in such close distance. Can't be good.
Right now all I've seen is a few cars in a small parking lot on fire that people are trying to put out with hoses and a dumpster outside a gas station that (last I knew when I lived near there) has been dead for years. At this moment, the vast majority (95% I'd say, based on the lack of reports of looting and fires compared to last night) of those gathered are holding signs and chanting along with the bullhorn. How about doing what he said this morning?
In regards to the fires the night before: “You will not see that tonight. There will be no lack of leadership and there will be no lack of response on the table.”
I'm struggling to understand, though, why stopping a mob from doing illegal things by using non-lethal methods is cruel and oppressive.Tyranny - cruel and oppressive government or rule.
It is Tim...I don’t think CNN or any of the media is responsible for what’s happening here. That strikes me as an evasion of the real issues involved.
He was arrested and charged for 3rd degree murder and manslaughter. HTH.And, when police kill innocent people... they don't receive the same treatment of a water cannon up their ###. Instead, they get paid leave and benefits. That is tyranny. Plain and simple.
My main issue with it (in this current moment in Minneapolis) is that the main purpose is will serve is escalation of (currently) peaceful protest. I for one would like to have a night where I'm not up until 3 watching the city burn, if that's an option. I think the best way of achieving that right now is to avoid escalation.I'm struggling to understand, though, why stopping a mob from doing illegal things by using non-lethal methods is cruel and oppressive.
OK, but that really doesn't seem to fit indifference toward assault, looting, arson, etc. I'm not sure what is cruel or oppressive about halting those actions. Nobody that I've seen is advocating to stop people from peacefully protesting.Tyranny - cruel and oppressive government or rule.
They were also fired and not getting benefits and paid leave.....but why bother with details? He was arrested and charged for 3rd degree murder and manslaughter. HTH.
But, look! Free TVs!
I think my approach has tended to be similar to yours. Sometimes the best way to deal with a fire is to let it burn itself out. Our attempts to put them out often make them much bigger.Right now all I've seen is a few cars in a small parking lot on fire that people are trying to put out with hoses and a dumpster outside a gas station that (last I knew when I lived near there) has been dead for years. At this moment, the vast majority (95% I'd say, based on the lack of reports of looting and fires compared to last night) of those gathered are holding signs and chanting along with the bullhorn.
Do you really think tha launching tear gas and rubber bullets into that crowd is the right call at this moment?
From police scanners, they're gathered a few block away from the roaming peaceful protests, presumably waiting to swoop in if things take a dramatic turn.Where the heck is the police in Minneapolis?
Yeah, you forgot to include it took four days plus protests to have that happen. There are also three other cops that haven't been arrested yet.He was arrested and charged for 3rd degree murder and manslaughter. HTH.
But, look! Free TVs!
My wife was like, "Holy crap, Al is drunk."Agreed, just said he sounds drunk to my wife
No, they need swat and paddy wagons to arrest a bunch of them too. What they are doing is illegal.Do you really think that launching tear gas and rubber bullets into that crowd is the right call at this moment?
And the possibility that like many other cases a conviction isn’t guaranteed at all.Yeah, you forgot to include it took four days plus protests to have that happen. There are also three other cops that haven't been arrested yet.
You or I kneel on someone's neck and cause their death... we end up in jail that night. Not four days later after protests.
What justice are they looking for tonight? He was fired almost immediately. He has been arrested. He was arrested and charged for 3rd degree murder and manslaughter. HTH.
But, look! Free TVs!
you've done it, you've solved civil unrest. No, they need swat and paddy wagons to arrest a bunch of them too. What they are doing is illegal.
Get violent after the trial then not anticipating a potential outcome? And the possibility that like many other cases a conviction isn’t guaranteed at all.
Fire at gas stations usually not a good mix.Right now all I've seen is a few cars in a small parking lot on fire that people are trying to put out with hoses and a dumpster outside a gas station that (last I knew when I lived near there) has been dead for years. No but its as good excuse as all the others.Wait, we are blaming unions for this now???
I'm guessing you dont know how it works. You have to make sure your case is solid before, evidence gathered and take it to the DA before making charges or there is a good chance it might not stick. That takes time even in clear cut cases like this. It was going to happen, anyone with a brain who didnt want a brand new flat screen knew this.Yeah, you forgot to include it took four days plus protests to have that happen. It's been dead for years and gas reservoirs are buried pretty deep underground. It really isn't something I'm particularly concerned about given what's happening right now.Fire at gas stations usually not a good mix.
They share some blame for sure.Wait, we are blaming unions for this now???
I said it partially in jest, but if people are mad about cops getting paid administrative leave and benefits, that is a direct result of the police union.Wait, we are blaming unions for this now???
Some people surely did stay home because of it. It doesn't hurt anything to do it.See, but this is why it was ridiculous for Frey to declare a curfew. There was zero chance of it being enforced.
1. They want him charged with first degree murder. What justice are they looking for tonight? He was fired almost immediately. He has been arrested.
You forgot free stuff.1. They want him charged with first degree murder.
2. They want the other policemen charged and arrested as well.
3. But more than anything else, they’re frustrated not with this one case but because they believe it’s so representative and commonplace, and these protests are an emotional way to express their frustration.
This is just ignorant. First degree murder requires It be premeditated. If he was charged with that, they’d better prepare themselves for an acquittal.1. They want him charged with first degree murder.

Just heard them read that statement from her attorney. Very interesting phrasing to make it clear her kids were not with the policeman involved in this. In other words, he's not their dad leave my kids alone.Chauvin's wife has filed for divorce.
Of course it does. If you are THE authority, draw a line in the sand, and then don't enforce the line you're signalling an unwillingness to exercise that authority. That surely emboldens the BAD actors. Some people surely did stay home because of it. It doesn't hurt anything to do it.
The reason that many black people don’t know this works is because what you described doesn’t work for them. Black people often get arrested and then rot behind bars while the DA decides whether or not to bring charges and how to make them stick.I'm guessing you dont know how it works. You have to make sure your case is solid before, evidence gathered and take it to the DA before making charges or there is a good chance it might not stick. Announced to loud cheers via bullhorn outside the 5th Precinct.Chauvin's wife has filed for divorce.
Rot behind bars? How long do yo think someone can be held without charges? The reason that many black people don’t know this works is because what you described doesn’t work for them. Black people often get arrested and then rot behind bars while the DA decides whether or not to bring charges and how to make them stick.
I don’t necessarily disagree with you, though I’m no criminal law expert. But nonetheless that’s what they want. This is just ignorant. First degree murder requires It be premeditated. If he was charged with that, they’d better prepare themselves for an acquittal.
This is the 3rd or 4th time you’ve made this comment. For the vast majority of protesters it’s just wrong, and I think it’s awful for you to keep repeating it.You forgot free stuff.
Yeah 1st degree would never happen. I think a case can be made for 2nd degree which allows for the charging of the other officers as well. This is just ignorant. First degree murder requires It be premeditated. If he was charged with that, they’d better prepare themselves for an acquittal.
Are we talking black people in the inner city?Rot behind bars? How long do yo think someone can be held without charges?
I got suspended once for posting that. But I digress.
