Orleans Opoku-Darkwa is an American football running back who is currently a free agent (1 Viewer)

If you look at the hit on his second goalline run, the play was blown up in the back field and a DL came up under Darkwa's helmet with his own, snapping his head back. Darkwa says he'll be okay but was walking stiffly out of lockerroom after game. I wonder if they checked him for a concussion.

Any word on his injury? He looks good when he plays. All I can as from a stash.

so his butt hurts

Darkwa dealing with 'badly bruised tailbone'
10102.jpg

The New York Daily News reports Giants RB Orleans Darkwa is dealing with a "badly bruised tailbone," but is "hopeful" to suit up for Week 9.
Per reporter Ralph Vacchiano, Darkwa may not be able to practice Wednesday. For now, he should be considered day to day, and truly questionable for Sunday's game against the Bucs. If Darkwa suits up, he'll be a high-risk RB3, even with six teams on bye.

Too early to jump off this miniature bandwagon. If anything, the 6 and 17 yd runs, followed by two GL carries, were more encouraging than discouraging.

I guess if anyone was expecting 100 yd and 2 TD, yeah, you were disappointed, but no one should have been expecting much more than small signs at this point.

Was Darkwa the clear lead back before he got injured? Didn't have a chance to see the job.
Jennings and Williams both got work before Darkwa seen the field. He had two nice runs, got stuffed on the goal line twice and was out of the game.

Well, his o-line got stuffed on the goal line twice.

I'm not sure how much blame he deserves for that.

...but I may be biased.

I put a lot of the blame on the o-line too. It wasn't good blocking for Williams either, which is why he gets a little too much blame IMO, although IMO Williams is the 4th best RB on the team (behind Jennings, Vereen and Darkwa).

The o-line is definitely not a strength of this team, although I do like what I have seen from Flowers, considering he is a rookie starting at LT so keeping in mind that he has a lot to learn. He has the legit potential to become a very good LT and a leader on the team. He has not only shown the skills as a LT, but he has also stepped up and is becoming a leader on the team.

Team just scored 49 points and lost. There will be points a plenty for RBs that can catch the ball on this team. Darkwa can do it all. Just needs to stop being so butt hurt.

I thought that it was pretty encouraging to see him be the main back on that entire drive, though. Jennings and Williams had not looked that good and that looked like it was Darkwa's chance to take over.

Nothing very insightful here, but a nice reaffirmation for those who believe Darkwa to be the best RB on the Giants. Practicing today bodes well for his chances this weekend.

Well I dropped CJ Anderson for this guy right before the game last Sunday so sitting on him until he proves I'm not an idiot... which will probably never happen but here's hoping.

I did the same thing! And then CJ finally has a good game. I think the lesson I learned is don't drop a good player who has been in a slump during their bye week...many times they can get healthy and turn it around. I think the time off helped CJ.....But Orleans started strong, just got dinged early. I'm holding on him too. I think he'll have a nice roll here as the season starts to move on. Let's hope!

Back at practice and beat writer prospecting he "could" get the most carries.

Haha,

I still don't know "What is Orleans Darkwa" but I'm hanging onto him to find out!

"Giants RB Orleans Darkwa (back) was back at practice Thursday.

Advice: He was officially "limited." Darkwa also practiced Wednesday and is on track to play. Darkwa was on his way to a decent workload last week before suffering the injury. He could lead the team in carries against Tampa Bay." rotoworld

I am holding on Orleans. He is going to have a big game and then everyone is going to try and pick him up.

Giants need to establish the run. Obviously the other running backs have had over half the season to show something and haven't.

This guy is young, hungry, and has the ability. Go back and watch his run against Dallas.....and then the one he broke against the Saints before he got injured.

He's not going away. He's going to be given every chance and I believe he will capitalize. I am desperate at running back like a lot of others....I don't think I'll be starting him against the Bucs....but if he has a big game it will great to know he's on my bench for future use.

Unless he hurts his bottom again.

Apparently this doesn't apply to Eddie Lacy.

On board myself. Only because I don't have many other options on a team spiraling downward. Starting him over Pierre, Karlos and Matt Jones.

Should I drop agholor for him? I have strong Wrs, but I have a feeling that agholor busts out in the 2nd half of this year.

I also lost foster and am relatively thin at Rb. Just not sure darkwa is the answer

As an Eagles' fan, it is hard for me to be too optimistic about agholor ros. If you need rb help desperately, I think Orleans is more valuable At this moment. If Orleans gets a bigger share today, you probably can't get him. I doubt agholor breaks out today. Ymmv.

Has been all quiet on the Darkwa front since his mini-breakout several weeks ago, even here in NYC.

His snap count hasn't risen much, but Jennings isn't getting it done and Wiliams seems to have fallen out of favor. Vereen is pretty much the only constant in the backfield, but he's a passing down specialist.

As we head into December and the team starting to round into form a bit trying to take control of the NFC East, I wonder if Coughlin will try to make a stronger commitment to the run.

Any thoughts on whether Darkwa may get a longer look down the stretch?

Coughlin and Co are stubborn and with two starting OL out this week I don't see the run blocking getting any better. It was be another pass-heavy day in Washington, especially with no Chris Culliver in the secondary.

Orleans Darkwa has won the Giants' No. 2 running back job as Rashad Jennings' primary backup.
Andre Williams got the boot on Saturday as the Giants trimmed the roster to 53, and Darkwa survived as the favorite for carries behind Jennings. Darkwa had a big preseason finale and showed some juice last season in limited action, posting a 35-153-1 rushing line and averaging 4.3 YPC. Unlike last year, the Giants are expected to lean on Jennings instead of using a committee.

This feels like it's going completely overlooked for rookie buzz. Paul Perkins hasn't proven anything. Jennings is what? 31?  Idk how well he'll hold up as an every down guy.

Darkwa feels like a pretty good dart throw right now.

20 team leagues?

Liked Darkwa's running from the moment i saw him. Even though his fundamentals are 1st-day quality, he knows holes like Hefner. But he's Giant RB4, so like only if you gotta drop Gaffney.

He's second on the depth chart in a good offense. Last year he went from fourth on the depth chart to getting touches because the coaches (including his OC McAdoo -- now HC McAdoo) wanted to see what he'd do in a game. He's produced when given chances, just like in the fourth preseason game.

Perkins may well pass him on the depth chart, or Perkins may be like the thousands of fifth rounders before him that do absolutely nothing.

Rashad Jennings is 31. He bounced around the league before landing in NY. His last two years he's handled 362 carries for 1502 yards and 7 TDs -- a 4.1 YPC. That's solid, but not spectacular. And he's 31 -- Father Time is undefeated. Does he come for Jennings this year?

For three years now (by memory -- don't remember exactly), NY has employed a RBBC.  Now they're going to give a workhorse role to a 31 YO whose career high in touches for a year is 224, which he set last year. Color me skeptical he can handle 300+.

Three posts above your post is a report that Darkwa is the number 2 and Jennings direct backup.

i see Vereen as obvious 3rd down back. Darkwa is the backup behind Jennings.  Perkins is bottom of the pecking order.

I had Jennings. Is Orleans a better pickup then Drake? He had the start of a good year last year but they never committed to him.

That's the way I viewed it going into the year. But Vereen had 17 touches last week, and I think he's the play this week.

I saw a fair amount of Orleans last year. The fact that he looked better than Andre Williams at times shouldn't carry that much weight. Y'all think he got better since he fractured his leg? I dunno, I think it's crazy to start him but I guess he might get touches so have at it.
