Depends how that future 1st looks to me. But probably the two picks

I asked him about the deal he said he thinks he can compete this year for a playoff spot.  So if he turns it around and his pick ends up 11-16 then it makes it more even.

If he does poor again and ends up a top 6 pick then I feel really great about the trade because this draft was going sideways for me.

I came into the draft with picks 5, 19, 21, 22, 24, 26, 37 and basically everyone I wanted has gone in the top 17 so by the time we even get to 22 I will have drafted 2 of the last remaining guys I really like and would been in the tier of guys I only like ok.  So even if the future 1st is middling it won't be so bad to me.

So I took some time to look this up, , and I came to the conclusion, that Norv Turner basically means nothing for TE production. The only 2 TE's who produced big years were Antonio Gates(a HOF TE, who had better numbers before Turner got there) and Jordan Cameron, who was on a team that set a franchise record for pass attempts, only the 2018 Steelers, 2012 Lions, and 1994 Patriots had more.

Other than those 2 examples, its basically nothing, unless you go back 25 years to Jay Novacek, and he too, like Gates, was better before Turner got there.

I don't know how Turner got a rep as a TE guy, because his history certainly shows its not the case.

I agree with your main point, but at the same time it doesn't eliminate the possibility of Thomas becoming a relevant asset. When I look at Norv's history I see a talent focused approach: If a player has the talent the ball will find him. When Norv had a player of Gates caliber TE was a focus of the offense. When he didn't the ball went elsewhere. What we know today is that Olsen has chronic foot issues and only been able to play 50% of the time L2Y. We also know that it generally takes TEs a few years to establish themselves in the league. Thomas showed improvement throughout the year culminating in 3 double digit games in the last quarter of the season.

I like Thomas' chances to become a relevant fantasy asset. It may take a year but in context of the bleak TE landscape I think he is worthwhile risk.

If you like that one then how about the 14 team PPR where I sent Golden Tate and a 2020 2nd, (likely late) for DJ Moore.

I just really believe someone needs to step up in that offense and I believe it’s Moore.

I would also take Moore over Golladay, so Moore/Coutee side in a landslide.

TL;DR:

gave 2020 mid-to-late 2nd

got 2020 very-early-3rd, 2020 early 4th, 2020 late 4th, 2020 early 5th

In terms of trade value, you got fleeced. 3rds and later are essentially worthless. You’re getting multiple dart throws from 100 feet in exchange for one from 15 feet.

And if that 3rd is the 3.1 (extremely likely if you see this dude’s roster) and my 2nd is a 2.9 to 2.12? I made the deal since I think I moved down 5-6 picks at most to gain 3 free dart throws.

Just traded away Doctson for Bears D in one of my PPR dynasty leagues. :bag:

I had to cut someone to pickup a defense so felt it was the only move I had to make. Can't decide if I'm smart or if I make Forest Gump look like a genius. On the plus side (even if I am an idiot) I have one hell of a roster in my 12 team league:

Luck, Winston

Zeke, Gurley, Fournette, D. Freeman, Lindsay, Henderson, Justice Hill

Hopkins, Evans, Hill, Julio, Deebo Samuel, Hollywood Brown, JJAW, Hardman, Diontae Johnson, Callaway

Kelce, Engram

Bears D

By the first week of the regular season I'll have to cut someone (or trade) for a kicker. Real world problems I tells ya....

At some point the opportunity cost of roster space vs draft picks comes into play.  If that's not a concern and you feel like having extra ####ty picks is beneficial, than whatevs.

You'll never convince me that you basically gave up somewhere between 4 and 10 draft slots and got anything good in return.

FFPC:

Gave: Darrell Henderson

Got: Hockenson

I had got shut out on Hockenson on my rookie drafts so was happy to see this offer. Position wise it makes no sense for my team since I'm fairly thin at RB and have an army of TE's but my team is not a contender so for this year not worrying about positions, just trying add as much long term talent as I can.

Hockenson by a ton in FFPC, regardless of team needs.

Anyone seeing Bell transactions out there?  Getting very low offers for him and wondering where his value is.

This just happened in a league where the 1.11 was on the clock. (ppr)

Team A gave- Bell and 2.11

Team B gave- 1.11, 3.11 and 2020 1st.  The first is middle of the road. It really depends on what Bell does. If he plays good the team is a solid playoff team, if not they probably fall to 4 or 5.

Forgot to add- Took Deebo Samuel at 11.

See the problem with this is that you are assuming that A. you will perform well enough to merit a 9-12 spot next year (injuries can change this) and B. that your trade partner will continue to as bad as he was this last year. Lastly, you should've just waited to do this next year after picks were locked in. There's no reason to do this type of trade now.

Why would the Mixon owner accept that? - and LOL on including the 2020 4th and 5th to make it work.

I dont understand why 95% of the trades are made or accepted in this thread. Do people in these leagues actually follow football.

Same owner that a few pages back traded me the 1.02 for kerryon which i was pretty much universally assigned a loss.

Same owner that traded Dalvin Cook to @Pwingles for under market imo.

Needless to say the guy buys and sells pieces regularly and most are bad

In my recent FFPC draft (where QBs value is super depressed) I grabbed Haskins at 5.1! Just couldn’t let him slip anymore even though I already have Luck and Cam. Hope to turn one of Cam or Haskins into a 2nd rounder during the regular season if one of them starts lighting it up.

All my 12 team dynasty leagues (we start 1qb) have always devalued QBs. I mean like ALL of them have traditionally gone 2nd or even 3rd round, no matter how good coming out.

I see that a lot too & every time, the one I want gets taken one spot before my pick. I might take Murray late 1st this time...

Maybe it's just my ignorance on this type of format, but that seems like an extremely high price to pay for DJ.  Curious where the picks are projected to be.

1 rb 1 wr and 2 flex seems to put a ton of emphasis on studs. Michel and boyd are flex players at best in that format.

It is a high price to pay.  bostonfred is correct the emphasis is more on studs in this league.

After this trade I would say the 2nd would probably be late, that's my pick.  It's a 12 team PPR I'll list main pieces to my team now after trade:

QB: Watson

RB: Da. Johnson, K. Hunt

WR: OBJ, M. Evans, R. Woods, Coutee

TE: Ebron

The first is now probably mid.  It was the trade partners first I sent back to him in this trade.  His main pieces:

QB: Trubisky

RB: Gurley, Michel, D. Williams

WR: Diggs, Golladay, Boyd

TE: Njoku
