*Official 2016 Philadelphia Eagles* - The year of Change (1 Viewer)

He's a FA at the end of the year anyway.  Not a difference maker this year so what's the real upside?  He's been up and down as a player regardless.

Ugh don't bring that up.  I had forgotten about that.
it's completely different. Brooks seems to acknowledge his mental health issues, and is figuring out a treatment that will work. I am sure none of us know 70% of the story for either, but this seems completely different

So what gives with this? Maxwell, Shady, DJax, all leave/get ran out of Philly because of lack of production, only to go elsewhere and stud out.

Then you have guys who are studs elsewhere first - Murray, Kiko (I'm forgetting another)- then come to Philly and have their careers killed and escorted out as bums- but go back to another team and continue their stud play? Even Andy Reid was ran out of town (and I agree it was time), and goes on to become one on the winningest coaches in the last 3 years. Was this all 100% Chip Kelley? How do you not contribute a big part of those decisions on someone else?
to be honest, i put a lot of the issues you mention above on Billy Davis, the D-coord from last year. he just didn't seem to use players in ways that made them successful. I'm a Kiko fan, and when he was healthy he was just as good. But he got injured in like the 1st game last year (i think it was the Atl game where he had the interception in the endzone), and it seemed like he rushed to come back and was never healthy for the rest of the year. kudos to him for trying to tough it out, but he just wasn't able to play at the level before the injury.

the DJax thing was always a little mysterious, but i believe at that time DJax had something shady go on at his house that made it seem like he was involved in some things that was going to get him in trouble at some point

and for all the poopin' people have done with Chip, i am sure he contributed to adding some good talent too. Everybody loves to remember the mistakes, but he brought in Sproles, had some good draft picks with Hicks and some others, and (i hope) he has some more i just am not thinking about it immediately

FWIW, I would say that Sproles was really a Howie move.  That was done right after Chip was hired, plus Howie made the move to extend him this year.

I think back to 2011 and that terrible 4 game win streak to end the season that did nothing but give them a worse pick and fool people into thinking they were better than they are.  I think it's more important they're playing better than if they win or lose at this point.  Either way, they should play to win.  I'll root for a win, and whatever happens, happens.  I just won't shed a tear if they lose and play well.
This is where I'm at. Playing well is the most important part, although I'd echo someone else's thoughts abut wanting to see Wentz find a way to make magic late

Plenty of upside actually. Nothing you'd trade for though.

You basically get a three week interview of the kid. If you decide you like him, you get a couple month head start on the field on trying to sign him.

Yep a game winning drive by Wentz would be nice to build on for the off season. Damn I wish he would of pulled it off last week.

This.  I think him moving to the city, bonding with the team, and us maybe being a place that gets him through his troubles might tempt him to stay here.  He's one of the main guys I wanted this offseason, wish we would have taken a stab at him.

Is the game at 1pm today? I've just checked out of football this week. Didn't watch SNF, MNF, TNF or Saturday. Seems weird but I'm not upset about it.  Kids and I are at Crayola Factory.

I just don't get going for it in that situation. You just have your rookie QB go down and score a would be game tying TD, on the road, against the leagues best defense. Tie the F'ing game and head to OT.

I guess our picks improved with the Viking loss and ours as well though.

I do agree.

though in the big picture, it's not that big of a deal.

I don't care if it's schadenfreude, I love watching Sh/t Kelly lose and lose hugely. Watching red zone and they panned to bench as Atlanta went up 21-0. Heads hung low. How do you like that culture you fat #### scumbag!?!?

If Dallas loses tonight vs Tampa Jones may bench Dak for Tony to salvage the season.

That could have a negative effect on Dak going forward like with Denver and how Elway handled Manning and Osweiler.

I think 32 of 36 tonight, ends all "Bench Dak" conversations.

Still can't believe Philly has only 5 wins.  Feels like they're so much better than that.
Too many mental mistakes at the worst times end in big plays. This team needs a shut down corner in the worst way. Yea we could use a WR too but I think the biggest immediate impact this team would feel is from a corner that can stop anything on his side of the field.

That player is nearly impossible to get though.

I agree we need an upgrade at CB but the offense as a whole needs about 2 WRs, maybe 2 RB's and maybe a couple OL. Speaking of the OL I thought Big V and Seumalo both played very well at RT.

I don't want to get cliche but we need to draft better the next couple years. You have your Derek Carr, now go get a Cooper and Crabtree etc.

Trade for Maxwell?

Don't see much downside to it.  Good for Carson's development to go through a do or die play like that, and like others said, would be a big moral win if we got it, and simply a better draft spot and bigger improvement in year-on-year records next year (hopefully).

Yep.  Losses to:

Lions by 1 (9-5)
Redskins by 3 (7-5-1)
Dallas in OT (12-2)
Giants by 5 (10-4)
Seahawks by 11 (9-4-1)
Packers by 14 (8-6)
Bengals by 18 (5-8-1)
Redskins by 5 (7-5-1)
Ravens by 1 (8-6)
COMBINED RECORD OF TEAMS THAT BEAT US:  75-45-4.

The teams we should have beat in there (packers/bengals) were both getting hot at the right time too.... and most of those losses above were on the road.  Many also were facing teams after their bye.  Not trying to make excuses but that is just brutal.  Don't think we're a playoff team necessarily, but we are better than our 2-9 record after the bye suggests.  We're an 8 win team that will finish with 5 or 6.

lol, quiet in here. Watching some of the pre-game stuff, I am honestly embarrassed to be a fan of a team with such a horrendous sports radio presence. I certainly appreciate the passion, but it is all insanity, and very little analysis. And when there is analysis, it is brushed over by the next caller freaking out

Anyway, i think Lane is the difference tonight. Eagles 24-21

In a third place game this week, I want so badly to play Ryan Mathews. Have a feeling Lane's return and a home game against a rival will combine to help propel him towards a monster game. If I could have found even one expert putting him above Freeman, Ingram, or Powell, I probably would.

hm, over Ingram would be my call. Possibly even Powell, considering Pats will focus on him. But too ballsy for Powell, but i would feel good over Ingram

Third place game I say do it unless it's a significant amount of money. I could see him over ether Ingram or Powell. Stuff I've read has me cool on Powell assuming you're playing standard. Hell, I almost want to roll out Wentz over Kapernick or Taylor...

Nope...PPR. I have one of those ridiculous rosters where almost the entire roster is projected between 11 and 15. DeSean Jackson has started for me exactly once all year, and players like Beasley, Rawls, and Lamar Miller have been benched far more often than not. Even Steve Smith is riding pine this week.

Week after week though, RB2 is my toughest decision, and one I get wrong more often than not. As much as I like Mathews, I like INgram this week too, and have Powell on the bench even though he's ranked higher than both almost everywhere. I can't see Powell doing S#%& in NE this week.

Encouraging game.  Even though we helped Dallas clinch HFA (Merry Christmas) they battled and held off the Giants.  The team is going to be good and as @Deamon said, most of their losses were very close and a few self inflicted.  They need to clean up mistakes and learn to be discipline but this young team is getting great experience.  Wentz should take a big jump next year.  Get us a CB that can cover and some much needed skill position help Howie and the sky is the limit.

Excited for next year for sure, imagine if we had to live through a Bradford year and Wentz didn't see the field until next year. Way ahead of what I expected. Merry Christmas boys!

Best game by eagles in awhile.  That long pass to agolar was awesome
If he can get over this catching thing he has a chance to be decent. If you go back and watch his drop on the slant he killed the CB on that route. He had similar routes and big drops all year long. He can get open

And he ####### caught it!!!!
That's exactly what I was thinking lol. After his initial drop in the first quarter I wanted to reach through the TV and strangle him. I've fired more expletives at Agholor than any other Eagles player maybe ever. Ertz is a close second lol
