Warning Points (1 Viewer)

I have been a member around here for quite some time. I have 1 warning point but when I click on it there are no record details. I thought maybe these worked like speeding tickets and after a certain period of time the points go away and you have a clean record. I guess not? Should I be appealing somewhere to get a clean record or should I be wearing it as a badge of honor?

In all seriousness, is there a system in place for both issuing and clearing these warning points? I believe my infraction may have occurred years ago.

Only one on the record (I've been a good boy since the started keeping track)

Warning issued by FBG Moderator for Abusive Behaviour in Unknown.

Given 1 points.

We've posted that because of how bad it's gotten, we're down to zero tolerance in the Josh Gordon thread for insults. No amount of decent content in a post justifies throwing the insult in. It just encourages others to turn it back into an insult fest in retaliation.

Next time is going to result in a multi-week timeout.

So, there isn't a defined plan that if I get say 5 points I get a timeout?

Curious that I see my 1 point but your points aren't shown to me. How do you show them off?

I got a warning point and a seven day time out in that same thread. I don't remember the thread. It says my warning was for inappropriate language. I have a total of 10 warning points.

I have had time outs here for 2 years, one year, and several weeks or months at various times. Strange then that I think of myself as one of the more restrained posters, but there you have it.

Back in the day, I was not deterred by timeouts. I played cat & mouse with the mods & ended up burning countless aliases & having almost a whole class C subnet blacklisted. Then I saw the light, was offered amnesty & user #20000 and I took it.

Trolling isn't fun anymore. I guess it comes from outliving mods. :D

Getting old aint fer sissies.

I only got de 5 warnings! I'm lazy mon!

My last warning point was for obscene language in my profile which from what I can tell was empty. Thanks Joe.

I've gotten it from all of them, Mostly for posts like this. Even though there's a language filter, apparently allowing it to do its job and filter out the language is still unacceptable.

13. Language Filter

We have a language filter in place to help keep the boards acceptable for a home or workplace. Our members don't want their children or boss looking over their shoulder at profanity.

The filter is doing its job in A, and the person is expressing an idea while swearing for emphasis. An account will probably not be suspended for this. The user may be warned. We would prefer you didn't curse on our boards at all as we're striving for a PG atmosphere. Admittedly, its a line we have a tough time defining. If you paint our boards with profanity-laced tirades you can be sure action will be taken against your account. In B the poster is making a personal attack that may result in a suspension. The fact that the insult is partially hidden doesn't forgive the fact that it's an insult. C and D are examples of circumventing the language filter that are not acceptable and may lead to a warning or suspension. Yes, I circumvented the filter in D and gave myself a warning.

It's just dumb to have a language filter and then suspend people for posts that make use of it, especially when its completely arbitrary.

Warning issued by Joe Bryant for Appropriate Language in Unknown. Given -10 points.

Remind us that due to good behavior, you have a green light to act out a couple of times. We are sincerely sorry for the inconvenience we've caused you.
So I have this #### going for me. Which is nice.

What on earth got a 1 year ban?

Chase Stewart gave me my one and only TO because I told some guy in a "is my wife cheating thread?" that, based on the facts presented, she was indeed getting the "strange sausage". Chase Stewart loves strange sausages apparently.
