Hard to believe it's been nine years to the week since the Mother of All Desert Island Drafts (https://forums.footb...afts-1960-2007/), a 50 round behemoth of an album draft that probably was the pinnacle of FFA music nerdery.

In the spirit of Woodstock 99 and the second Stone Roses album, I'm throwing out the Mother of All Desert Island Jukebox Draft for your consideration.

What's a jukebox: A jukebox is a partially automated music-playing device, usually a coin-operated machine, that will play a patron's selection in a pseudo-random order from a stack of 45 RPM singles (the little records with the big holes). It's different from a mixtape because (a) a jukebox is much bigger and (b) a mixtape is meant to have a flow from one track to the next.

Format:

50 round song draft. Select one song from each year between 1966 to 2015 inclusive. You may substitute up to five pre-1966 or post-2015 years for years in the regular draft era.

You can pick hits, deep cuts, personal favorites, whatever. You know what makes a great jukebox song.

No time limits or specified sequence.

No limits on the number of songs an artist can have selected.

No mulligans permitted until the end of the draft. The only exception is if a drafter picks up somebody else's team during the draft, he or she gets three mulligans.

Snake draft with two selections per turn beginning with round #3

No judging but people are encouraged to post their picks and final jukebox

No themes necessary unless you want to. Put your jukebox in an imaginary bar, give it a name, knock yourself out.

.

Been a long time since we did one of these - good to see.

Unfortunately, the last 15 or so years are out of my range, so I'll just watch and chime in.

Is Dr. Pill still around these parts? The last time I saw him was when I outed Stoner Claus as not a crook. I kinda took a hiatus to music here after my kids were born but he always was cool to have around. Humana also? All you guys are still great though.

If you do want to include pre '66, I say your idea of just picking any 3 you'd like is a good idea to bring the total to 53. Lot of good stuff pre 66

I'm kinda in the same boat. You should get in. We can fight over Animals.

I'm in. You could do something with 5 pre-65 picks or so to reduce the number of post 2000 that some seem to be afraid of.

I want a hat with a picture of a 45 Spider.

Maybe have a couple of wild card picks so we can double up on years?

No participation for me, I need to be more productive in other areas of my life, and these things have a way of becoming mini obsessions while they run. Someone else will have to draft all Police songs from 78 - 83.

In honor of the recently departed, there should be a constraint that everyone has to draft at least one Bowie song.

I'm leaning toward allowing pre-1966 substitutions but think doubling up with wild cards defeats what little scarcity there is in this format.

The pre-1966 picks will have to come from different years though.

Still do it. It balances drafters like me who might be the opposite or just stuck in the 90s.

We must be allowed to make pre 66 picks. We also must have all picks post 1980. I have no idea how Tim makes those 35 picks

I think you'd both be surprised by how many new (or old) songs have permeated your consciousness. One song per year really isn't that much and sniping should be rare in this format.

Is it albums or songs? I'm in. I am all for as much pre 66 music as possible.
Proper jukeboxes play 45s not CDs.
I just read too quick and saw the word album used multiple times, but you mean we are "building an album."
No we're stocking an imaginary jukebox except for Acer who will be commandeering his dad's real jukebox.

We're drafting one song per year released 1966-2015 except for some accommodation for pre-1966 tracks.

The one album per year concept is soooo 2007.

I don't know a lot of recent chart singles. So, it can be album cuts as long as the album was released in the year you're using the pick on? What's our Bible - All Music?

How about '56-'15, 50 songs, so you can skip any specific ten years (but maybe no more than 2 a decade?)

it can be any song released as a single or on an album during the year. It's about the music not the rules maaan. if you can cite a source like AllMusic, Acclaimed Music or even Wikipedia that supports your pick, it'll fly.
