Of course I'm desperate. The Dems are this close to giving away this election. I don't want to see Trump as our next President.

As I suspected, it's making sure your team wins and not picking the candidate that matches your values.

Well, if your values match up with the Democratic party, logic suggests that whoever the Dems nominate will match your values; at least moreso than the Republican nominee.

Well now is the time to pick the Democratic nominee that most matches your values, not to vote against the Republican who doesn't. I'm in complete shock that someone like pantagrapher, for instance, is completely in the tank for Hillary.

If you believe elections are solely about picking values, I can sort of understand why that would be shocking, although I do think people overstate how different Hillary and Bernie are on policy.

Finally, I harken back to my childhood. Long before the "who would you like to have a beer with" test came out, I had my own child-version: "who's voice did I want to listen to for 4 years" It may not have been very reliable on the issues, but back then my perspective was limited to knowing the president was on the news alot (this was back when people actually watched the evening news). And, I don't think I can handle 4 years of listening to Clinton's voice.

I came up with a pretty similar test when I was a kid. I figured that the main job of a President was to give speeches, so whose speeches did I want to listen to?

Obviously, I became a Jesse Jackson supporter.

You have to be more specific....which version of Hillary's policies are you talking about?

I'm sure I'm wrong but I still think there is a 0% chance that Trump becomes President - it's just too ridiculous for me to believe still. I think after Iowa and NH enough drop out where the Republican base will have a player to back (Rubio most likely IMO). He's a lunatic who knows nothing about running the country.

The Benie camp is paranoid of Microsoft?

Well, personally, I'm skeptical of any company that offers electronic tabulation of political votes without outside independent auditing. I think it is unlikely Microsoft would do anything with a caucus vote, but I'm all for the campaign having their own independent system to check it against.

New Hampshire is the Republican primary bellwether state. He's ~ +30 there right now. For comparison's sake Romney finished +17% there and had home field advantage. Trump as the nominee almost seems inevitable. The only thing I can see derailing him is not actually having any sort of ground game for the long haul and just expecting people to show up and vote for him.

I hope you are correct about Trump. I am hoping Rubio wins the nomination. However, if it is Sanders versus Trump then Trump will be our next President.

Last night in Iowa:

MASON CITY An overflow crowd of approximately 800 jammed into The Music Man Square to hear Sen. Bernie Sanders rallying cry to voters.

MASON CITY Calling his wife a born change maker, former President Bill Clinton continually touted his wifes experience as he spoke to about 350 people at Mason City High School Wednesday night.

:coffee:

That's true, Hillary has made quite a lot of change.

Tim isn't a democrat; he is a moderate republican. Hillary is the closest thing to a moderate republican this cycle.

Well I added a zero to the end of the real number . But he probably averages 35 posts a day , 7 days a week , 365 days a year .

People are always obsessed with how much I post. Who the #### cares? I have a lot of free time in my job. Right now I'm waiting for a client to show some retail space. He's late, I'm bored, so I'm gonna post. Deal with it.

From the guy who wrote a book from Inside Her Improbable, Victorious Senate Campaign

I am shocked he has voiced this opinion.

Clinton winning the Senate election in NY was improbable? Anyone who thinks that needs to put down the crack pipe, stop dropping LSD, and get some fresh air. For god's sake, she moved to New York specifically because she wanted to be a Senator and knew this was a state where she could win.

FWIW, I've never paid attention to the raw number of posts, until you posted this. That said, what amazes me is the sheer # vs how many have been correct/accurate. You're well below the mendoza line as best I can tell ;)

Hindsight is 20/20. It was not considered a lock at the time that it is now spun as. Hillary had never held elective office and was called a carpetbagger since she only recently had moved to New York. Add to that, her opponent was supposed to be Rudy Guliani who was expected to kick her ###. Talking heads on Fox initially said she had no chance of winning in NY and even on MSNBC they were split about her prospects. Once Guiliani announced he was not running and then Lazio emerged as the opposition candidate the narrative started to change.

From Bernie's forum today with High School students:

daveweigel Verified account ‏@daveweigel

A student tells Sanders that the case for climate change seems fake to her. "Thank you for the question," he says. "You're wrong."

So awesome.

Kind of dickish. Seems like something Tump would do

He said thank you.

And I'm going to assume he explained why she was wrong. If that is dickish allah and Bill Cosby have won.

what can you say to someone like that?

it's like if B.O.B. said that the world is flat and the round thing seems fake to him. The science is there, if someone chooses to not believe it Bernie is not going to change their minds.

I've been wrong quite a bit on a few issues that are important to Slapdash. I don't believe that my overall POV is wrong, obviously. And I'm convinced that many of you are wrong about trade issues.

She would have crushed Guiliani too. No one serious thought she had any chance of losing. The talking heads on Fox always think the GOP is going to win (witness POTUS 2012 campaign).

Regardless of whether this assessment is true or not, I don't know if I even care. There is 0.0% chance that his proposal would be signed into law as is. When deciding who to vote for I try to concern myself with the things that actually might happen instead of just what the candidate proposes in a campaign. This results in me supporting Bernie even if I'm less of a socialist.

I think your overall point is a good one.

So what things do you believe will happen if Bernie is elected President? (as compared to things that will happen if Hillary is elected President?)

He's releasing his medical records today. He's 74, so age is a big factor. Honestly, that strikes me as too old for the presidency.

It isn't.

This is one issue I care nothing about. Any candidate who can survive the grueling campaign schedule has the constitution of a horse. If Bernie is elected he'll be just fine.

He'd be pushing 80 at the end of one term. Yeah the more I think about it, that's too old.

I agree.

Your mind starts slipping in the 70s and he's at such an increased risk of a major health issue.

If he does win the Democratic nomination, it'll be interesting to see who the VP running mate is. Greater chance they'll have to step up...
