Bernie Sanders HQ! *A decent human being. (7 Viewers)

What is wrong with this?

Seriously? We are going to listen to people ##### about voting being too difficult when they can vote literally for a month via mail and opted not to?
Beyond that, many (most?) of his supporters are students or people without jobs, why couldn't they go to the polls earlier?  They opened at 6am I believe.

To be fair, winning an election after a 3-way sounds like a pretty boss way to start a career.
I give him a lot of credit . He changed the whole culture in Vt

I don't agree with his brand but he really believes in his agenda

I have seen others run the numbers and say he needs to win by 20 points on average to get enough. And the Super Delegates will vote for the popular vote winner just like they did before. The party can't afford the #### storm super Delegates overturning the popular vote would bring raining down on them.
Don't worry about superdelegates and all of that.

Hang in there and it will sort itself out at the convention.

800000 people, 60 polling places.
Maricopa County alone had 460,000 mail in ballots already received before election day. I don't know what the other counties were. So, well over half of all the votes cast were already received by Arizona officials. That doesn't count the absentee voters who end up dropping off their envelope at the polling location either.

Hey, there were long waits. You have all day to vote and all month to vote.

Maybe Bernie can run on a platform of free college and a free courier service whereby the government can go and personally pick up ballots from each individual voter. Maybe Uber can sponsor it at no cost.

Should people have to wait 5 hours to cast a vote. Ideally, no. But, that is sort of what happens in every aspect of life when you wait till the last minute to do something. It wasn't like we haven't already seen record turnout and long lines in every other state up to this point.

It is just the general woes is me vibe that Sanders puts out there. It is tiresome and old. Grow the #### up, be an adult, and take responsibility for your own decisions. It usually takes me longer to wait in line at the DMV than to vote on election day, and I am paying them money for a service.

Sure.  Okay.  Thanks for all your insight.

It's a crime.

But I suspect it has less to do with the billionaire class and much more to do with the growing number of Latinos in Maricopa county. I think the Republican leaders of Arizona are afraid of their state turning blue...

All day to vote when polls close at 7pm? People do work. Take responsibility? You mean like filing for bankruptcy over and over? I think you better take another closer look at the candidate you are supporting.

Right...because all the states that run a caucus are designed to increase turnout and encourage people to vote, too. I don't hear Bernie complaining that there are too many caucus states.

Few people, especially Sanders supporters, are working from 6 AM to 7 PM (13 hour shifts). And here is the thing. If they do work a crazy shift like that...it is called an absentee ballot. We have been using them for many, many years.

I can't speak for Arizona since I don't live there...but I am pretty sure that each registered voter received information about how to request one.

JFC - Some Americans had to stand in line to cast a vote. Wait 3 hours for Star Wars...no problem. But free college...nah.

Great points again.  I'm impressed, I think you've covered everything that you could possibly correct everyone on in just a few posts.  We'll track you down if we need you for anything else.  Take some time to bask in the afterglow.

this isn't about Sanders supporters, though he was the one who complained.

Its about Latinos. And yes SIDA they typically work longer hours than do white folks, and the voting booths were reduced by 70% on them for no reason other than those in charge don't want them to vote.

Did you vote yet?

Tell me what state you are in and I will track down the absentee ballot information. I am feeling helpful this evening.

The same thing is happening in Texas. The Latino population is exploding, it's terrifying the whites in charge, and so they're cutting down on voting booths in Latino heavy areas. That used to be illegal, but not since the Supreme Court overturned the Voting Rights Act.

But it won't matter. Come November Latinos are going to amaze with their numbers. They will stand in line for 10 hours if they have to in order to take down Trump. It's going to be beautiful.

Since the discussion has shifted to the Arizona voting, another perspective at DKos:

Myths About Election Irregularities and Suppression in Arizona (Update)

By delphine

There are several myths left floating around regarding yesterday’s flawed election in Arizona:

  • It was just a few hours (or it’s the voters’ fault)
FALSE

Lines were so long people literally spent an entire work day waiting in line.  In Maricopa County, every polling location had to accommodate 20,000 voters.

  • All democrats were affected equally by the lack of polling places.
FALSE.

Latino communities suffered disproportionately due to lack of polling places in their neighborhoods.  Maricopa County is 40% Latino.  Pima County had twice as many polling locations open than Maricopa County, with 1/3rd as many voters.

  • Provisional ballots will eventually be counted.
FALSE.

The SoS expressly stated that if you are listed as anything but Democrat in their system (even if it’s wrong), your provisional ballot will not be counted.  The Script that Yavapai’s County Recorder’s Office uses:

“Every provisional ballot is checked for eligibility.  If you are registered as independent, other, party not designated, or libertarian, you are not eligible for this election and therefore, by law, your vote cannot be counted.  If you are registered as a Democrat, Green, or Republican, and your ballot is otherwise eligible, then your provisional ballot will be counted.”

  • This only affected independents who switched to democrat to vote for Sanders.  FALSE.
Lifetime Democrats were erroneously listed as Independent, Republican, Libertarian, and “no affiliation”.  None of their votes will count.  People brought their hard copy voter ID with the correct affiliation and were still not allowed to vote with a regular ballot.  It won’t be easy to fight this even if the computer is wrong.

  • It’s not that many votes.
FALSE.

In Yavapai County, 2/3rds of voters in one precinct were mistakenly identified as independent.  All of them were given provisional ballots (which as we now know, will not be counted).  The election day technician in Yavapai indicates that “this is the same exact thing that voters have been experiencing in Pima and Maricopa County all day.”

  • This is a partisan issue from Bernie “whiners”.
FALSE.

This is a voting rights issue.  Do we expect free and fair elections in the US or not?  Do we say “well this happens everywhere, oh well?” or do we fight for everyone’s right to vote?  Do we continue to put up with this simply because we like the outcome?  How much did we love the outcome in FL?  Would we like democrats to be able to elect Democrats to their state and federal offices in all states — doesn't that mean they need to be able to vote fairly?  [...]

Uh, you're going to have a hard time proving Latinos in urban areas work longer hours than whites. Best to drop that one.

Burnie's 1st career win was by 10 votes for the mayor of Burlington . If Burniev lost that election  too where would he be today? Kind of amazing.
I was dating a chick going to college in Burlington at the time and used to spend a lot of time up there.  I remember being shocked and a bit amused that an avowed Socialist actually held a position of power in the country.  People up there were potheads and scrubs so it soon made complete sense.  The fact that he's now a strong Presidential candidate is both amazing and sad to me.  Shows how far off course the country has gone.

Legals love Trump. Illegals can't vote.

Illegals can't vote.
Actually, they can quite easily in states that do not require any identification, unfortunately.

For example, California.

It is interesting because illegals have been trying for 20 years (and they finally succeeded) to get driver's licenses. We are told that voter ID laws are oppressive because people supposedly can't afford the cost of an identification. Thankfully, we have rich illegals in California where they can afford the license and no doubt, the insurance, so hopefully we will get around to deciding fair and legitimate elections in this state are a worthwhile endeavor.

It's been 24 years since we've had a President who hasn't smoked dope.

Keep up your anti-establishment shtick.

I've got no problem with potheads.  They're great to hang out with.  Used to be one myself.  My problems with Bernie are that he's a socialist who hates Business and believes in free rides for everyone.  My 7 year old niece has a better concept of accountability and work ethic than this guy has.

Wow...just......wow

So far off :(

?? Just stop trolling man, that is all I am asking. I don't think the Latino vote is going to matter tbh. Trump didn't lose Latino voters, they were just never going to vote for our side anyways. However, I can see Trump getting a very high amount of the black vote for a Republican, and that combined with record turn out among white voters that haven't been voting I predict a Trump landslide victory over Hillary and Sanders.
Yeah with at least 75% of African Americans holding a negative opinion of Trump he is going to carry that demographic.

After the 2012 election, the GOP recognized that they must draw in more of the Latino vote in order to remain a viable party. Trump is only pushing more away.

Winning back Latino voters wasn't a side issue on CPAC's first day. It was the issue.

Organizers may have purged center-right speakers like Chris Christie from this year's event, but when it came to immigration it was a whole other world. Panels, speeches, and breakout sessions galore featured Latino or pro-immigration Republicans who warned of impending doom if the party didn't abandon its usual hardline ways.

It didn't always go over well. The mere mention, by Texas Gov. Rick Perry, of calls to shift the party's appeal to the growing Latino demographic drew boos from the crowd. But the overwhelmingly pro-reform schedule reflected deep-seated fears among conservative leaders that population trends could turn the GOP into a minority party for decades if the immigration issue isn't addressed soon.

Perhaps not surprisingly, the most forceful speech on the topic came from a pollster, Whit Ayres, who all but fell to his knees and begged Republicans to pass comprehensive reform.

Ayres' case should sound familiar by now: 71 percent of Latino voters pulled the lever for President Obama in 2012, according to CNN's exit polls (other estimates put Obama's margin even higher), and the Latino share of the electorate is growing rapidly. Unless the GOP changed immediately, Ayres claimed, they faced a disaster of Biblical proportions in which demographically unstoppable liberals would destroy every last vestige of American life that Republicans hold dear.

What I do like about Bernie though is his passion and commitment.  That's the one quality I can always respect, even if I am diametrically opposed to someone's viewpoints.  He definitely has a role in government, just not President.
He has surprised a lot of people including so called political experts. He has definitely made a name for himself.

I'd like to discuss Bernie's foreign policy acumen, an important consideration in a presidential candidate.  Does he really have what it takes in this area?  Here is his response to the bombings in Brussels yesterday.   http://www.thewrap.com/brussels-terror-attacks-bernie-sanders-statement-last-presidential-candidate-to-respond/

Thoughts?  Would world leaders take him seriously?
At this point, and for the past week, I kinda just think he is and has been mailing it in. He knows he lost a few Tuesdays ago.

Seems a pretty standard answer.  Nothing alarming about it.

And I've seen nothing of his other foreign policy interviews or answers leading me to think he would be a problem with world leaders.

Definitely not the red flags I've seen out of Cruz and Trump.

Hillary is a liar and while scary, knows foreign policy better than any of them
