No clue, not happy about it, but from everything I saw, seemed like he was absolutely going to hold out. I guess they figured get a 3rd round compensatory pick in 2017 instead of 2018 and use the $14M cap space for Short, Star and/or Ealy? We'll be drafting multiple corners now.Why not make him stay this coming season?!?!
Can you imagine Haden and Norman in the same secondary? The Browns might set a record for 6-3 losses. The Browns have so much damn cap money.
PAY THE MAN
I don't think that fits the moneyball model though. The Browns have so much damn cap money.
PAY THE MAN
Except they cannot stop the running gameCan you imagine Haden and Norman in the same secondary? The Browns might set a record for 6-3 losses.
sure, moneyball is nice and all, but they also have a cap to adhere to eventually.I don't think that fits the moneyball model though.
Like in stepbrothersMaybe he and Odell Beckham can be teammates now. They could share bunkbeds in mini-camp.
Still gotta pay Luck the biggest contract in NFL history. So yeah, wishful thinkingColts

These things gets pushed to the side when you put on the same uniform. Both are Warriors and will respect each other in the long run.Maybe he and Odell Beckham can be teammates now. They could share bunkbeds in mini-camp.
Not bad if you're worth 30mWonder what it feels like to have someone put 13.9 million in your pocket and then take it back.

He should be able to get $30 million in guaranteed money / signing bonus money. Probably more.Wonder what it feels like to have someone put 13.9 million in your pocket and then take it back.
Not at all, but two years at 14m or three at 12m guaranteed are. Some team will pay him. I'm sure he isn't sweating losing out on a 1 year deal.I could be wrong, but I don't think he's going to get 30 mil this year.

Yeah, he's going to get more than that.I could be wrong, but I don't think he's going to get 30 mil this year.

Agent in his ear I'm sure. An agent has a better pulse on value than I do, but I dont see him at 16m for more than 2 maybe 3 years. Even three is hard to swallow at 48m.....Heard he was looking for 16 mil and wasn't interested in a long term deal at 12 mil.
About 10 posts up.only a hand full of teams can even pay his price, who are they, anyone have the short list?
Good thing for him is that there are a few teams that have money they have to spend to meet cap mins.Agent in his ear I'm sure. An agent has a better pulse on value than I do, but I dont see him at 16m for more than 2 maybe 3 years. Even three is hard to swallow at 48m.....
but again if an agent is whispering in his ear that 48m is a possibility, I cant see a client getting excited over 14m.
I posted those that probably could swing it a few posts ago. The teams with $15 million of remaining cap room are currently JAX, SFO, CLE, TEN, NYG, CHI, CAR, IND, DET, MIA, CIN, and TBB. But we already know CAR isn't interested.only a hand full of teams can even pay his price, who are they, anyone have the short list?
No, he hadn't signed the franchise tender.Couldn't they have traded him?
Carolina is interested at 12 million a year.I posted those that probably could swing it a few posts ago. The teams with $15 million of remaining cap room are currently JAX, SFO, CLE, TEN, NYG, CHI, CAR, IND, DET, MIA, CIN, and TBB. But we already know CAR isn't interested.
I don't see Chicago in the running as a Bears fan.I posted those that probably could swing it a few posts ago. The teams with $15 million of remaining cap room are currently JAX, SFO, CLE, TEN, NYG, CHI, CAR, IND, DET, MIA, CIN, and TBB. But we already know CAR isn't interested.
NE has less than $6 million in cap space. So unless they jettison some players or rework a lot of contracts, NE is an unlikely landing spot.So where are the realistic destinations?
NYG. OAK, SF, CLEV, TB?, Chi? NE?
I know, but I thought the way it would usually work (if this wasn't so rare in the first place) is that they work out a trade, let the other team negotiate a long term deal with him, he then signs the tender and the deal gets done. No, he hadn't signed the franchise tender.
You realize players get signing bonuses up front, right? He's going to get way more money than if he signed his tag, that's for sure. He's not getting paid more than any player in the league this year.
