Strange choice by the 1.03 to go Wentz when they already had Winston and glaring needs elsewhere

Previously quoted the draft link from snellman and dunno how to remove it from my reply

The RBs seem to be moving higher and higher.  Dixon in the 1.6 range in several of the recent drafts and Booker around 1.9/1.10.

A few days ago each of them were about 4 picks later pretty regularly.

ETA: Looks like Michael Thomas and Tyler Boyd are the main guys dropping as a result.

I don't disagree, but can we get a separate thread for devy drafts?

Imo, it doesn't help us non-devy dynasty players to see a draft where Zeke, Henry, Treadwell, and Boyd are already taken.

I didn't realize it was thread specific. It just says rookie draft.

Just my opinion, but I think a rookie draft and a devy draft are different enough to warrant 2 threads.

Not a huge deal if most disagree.

Not sure there are enough devy drafts for it to matter. So long as the Google doc doesn't include it in the 12 team PPR data. Click on the link see devy players and move on.

Coli owned 11 of the first 25 picks. I owned 5.  So a lot of this is our preference.  I prefer guys with some chance to start right away because I'm the most active trader in the league and love flipping.   I paid 1.2, 1.6 and 2.1 for Henry,  Dixon and Perkins, which will not go over well with the ppr WR lovers but was hardly bargain shopping in non ppr, either.   I love Dixon and think he's the answer for trestman at rb.  I also got Michael Thomas, who i think could outproduce cooks very soon,  and hunter Henry, who will back up Olsen for me until he's ready to play unless I trade him first.

Coli prefers super young guys and loves the little guys for some reason.  I hate prosise, because I don't think he's ready to play this year.   He loves the guy with the higher draft position and low career carries.  We didn't overlap a lot in our preferences, so both of us were happy.

10 team, start Q/RR/WW/T + flex, .5 ppr for WR/TE ONLY. 5 year max contracts, but 5 man rookie squad and 2 man 2nd year squad. Only starting 20-30 WRs per week without full ppr makes WRs less valuable than larger formats.

Mixed owners, probably 5 pretty strong, 1-2 weak, 3-4 average.

ecoli is very concerned with getting his players' backups. Maybe it was just schtick on his part - but securing Mark Sanchez' backup shouldn't be anyone's priority.

Pharaoh Cooper so odd. Earliest he has gone is 2.6 His avg draft position is 17.5 (cumulative 105 picks/6 drafts PPR non IDP) YET his ADP is 16th pick.  Shows you how all over the board this draft is!

Cooper clearly belongs after the big 3 receivers, Thomas/shepard/Boyd/fuller, and is in the Braxton miller/carroo tier.   Borderline top 10 receiver.  The only thing moving him up and down adp is how hard people hammer the receiver inventory before looking at running backs

Tell you what, man.  In IDP leagues, I am jumping in EARLY at LB.

These late 1st/early 2nd RB/WR are going to have as good a shot as 3rd/4th round players at same position.  If I can get a 2nd/3rd for a 1st, I might do it (assuming someone isn't handing out 2017 1sts).

I think ADP of most of these RB and WR are going to prove to be a mistake.  Late 1st early 2nd round, I'd rather take Henry/Hooper/Goff/Wentz/Lynch.

Sometimes I wonder if it's NOT a good thing to put much weight into these.  I feel a lot of people see these and say, "Well, most people are picking player XYZ here so I guess I had better do that too."

I can see your point Spike.

I think people are influenced by other things they have read/saw and not just ADP but maybe I am wrong about that.

I certainly try to consider ADP to some extent. Start up drafts will show better separation of the 2016 rookie values than these rookie drafts will.

I think it's most helpful to be able to see which players may drop. For example, if I'm debating between two RBs at picks 23 and 27, I know Paul Perkins is more likely to be snatched up than DeAndre Washington. But I do agree that if you like DeAndre Washington more, then forget about the ADP and get him.

Why not?  I'd much rather have the backup to someone who sucks than the backup to an all-pro.  All else being relatively equal, of course.

Yep, our league seems to like his path to starting better I guess. I took Henry as I also have Murray. Easy choice for me.

I definitely think about ADP for that payer or two I'm targeting, and when considering if I can safely trade up or down. To stay rational how I value rookies, it's fun seeing start ups where guys draft the rookie pick # (rather than a named rookie). Super interesting, but the knowledge has seemed pretty useless at draft time and when offering trades. In the frenzy of a rookie draft, everyone is selling and buying the winning lottery number.

This thread is great.  Helps with rookie valuation and also can have a little bit of fun seeing some of the outliers. Always one or two in every league.

Have to say I'm more than a little surprised to see Tyreek Hill going undrafted in most of these.  He's a phenomenal athlete.  Maybe the best in this class.  The Chiefs spent a 5th on him in spite of his being kicked off of the OSU team in 2014 for beating/choking his girlfriend.  Dorsey and Reid took a lot of heat, but they are sticking by the kid.

He's 5'8" 185lbs.  Ran 4.28 and 4.29 at his pro day.  10'9"broad and 40.5" vertical.  Shuttle times were fantastic too.  Elite athlete.

On the field he looks like a football player.  He's not skinny.  Very solid build.  Looks more like a RB than a WR.

I'm curious to see how KC uses him.  There's some combo of Sproles/Harvin/Cobb/Tavon potential here.  Likely mostly a returner in year 1, but the guys is gonna make plays in the return game.  His speed and athleticism jump out on tape.

Yikes. I like Dixon and all, but he went 100+ picks later than Coleman.

How about Howard at 6 before Henry and basically all the other tier 2 WRs?

I love these owners.

Yeah they are two separate things and not saying it would help trade negotiations.

But it can show you when there is a big gap between say rookie pick 1.05 and rookie pick 1.09

From April ADP of dynasty start ups:

19. Ezekiel Elliott RB3 R1 20.22 -5.61 [14,26

28. Laquon Treadwell WR23 R2 29.89 2.22 [23,35]
34. Josh Doctson WR27 R3 35.56 -7.11 [28,46]
39. Corey Coleman WR30 R4 43.22 -7.44 [35,56]

64. Michael Thomas WR40 R5 67.22 -4.78 [57,81]
67. Derrick Henry RB18 R6 68.22 5.22 [52,94]
69. Leonte Carroo WR43 R7 69.11 -13.64 [37,88]
72. Sterling Shepard WR44 R8 74.89 2.14 [61,94]
76. Kenneth Dixon RB21 R9 78.78 -12.39 [49,103]

95. Tyler Boyd WR51 R10 93.00 32.67 [67,111]

and so on.

There is clearly a sizable gap between the top 4 rookies and the next group. This was prior to the NFL draft so things have changed. Now Shephard seems to be the next preferred WR instead of Michael Thomas and I don't think the Giants was a better landing spot.

Just another way to look at things.

Do people have fears about Coleman turning into, at least for the first few years in the NFL, Sammy Watkins?  The parallel I'm trying to make is an excellent WR coming into the league and getting stuck with utter crap at QB.

RGIII could turn it around and (if not) Josh McCown was able to make Travis Benjamin and Gary Barnidge fantasy relevant.

Turning into Watkins for his first few years? In Watkins second year in the NFL he was WR 7 in fantasy PPG, and over the last 6 games was 2nd or 3rd in the league. If you are the dominant WR on your team, even a bad QB won't hold you back very much (check 2015 for Hopkins, Maclin, Marshall, AJGreen w/o Dalton, etc. and even Benjamin). The bigger question for Coleman's early production, to me, is Gordon.

Dixon just went 1.02 in our 14 team non-ppr league.

Lol. I think his ADP is up about 5 spots from drafts starting 4/30 or 5/1 to ones starting in last 2 days.
