Interesting concept...  Push a button and within a couple seconds have a live video stream with a uniformed officer trained to de-escalate the situation while recording GPS location and photo/video of offender. Plans run $18/mo for unlimited use, or $10 per use with no monthly charge. 

PROS: 
• Could work in certain scenarios
• Nice peace of mind for wives/GFs/Daughters
• In event of incident, data (GPS location) and photo/video of offender COULD help solve crimes.
• Data uploaded live to cloud.

CONS: 
• Requires decent lighting and data connection
• Requires offender to be close enough to be seen, but not so close as to swat/block/grab phone
• Occupies hand(s) that could be otherwise used to defend oneself, grab firearm/mace, etc. 

Thoughts?

Yeah I hope they're doing a good job of educating folks that instant video doesn't mean instant response. This will work on a certain type of casual criminal, but there are many who will not be deterred at ALL.

Probably good for domestic disputes and random encounters on the street with road rage a-holes.  Pretty worthless if you're in any serious danger.  Should be paid for with tax money and free to use, WTF.

9-1-1s a joke as Flavor Flav let us all know and John Oliver reminded us last week.  The system needs an overhaul, stuff like this should be included.  I don't care if it's abused, it will save $ on the back end.
