Another Elon thread.  This is a very interesting idea--Elon says that there's a billion to one chance that we are living in a base reality which means that he thinks that it's overwhelmingly likely that we are characters in a simulation.  His argument is that if you assume any advancement in video game technology then video games will be indistinguishable from our reality at some point in the future.

No reason there couldn't be a simulated afterlife, and "death" as we know it is simply one sim moving to a different level.

Depends if the past life had any influence on your instincts or what not.   If it is a clean slate, then no.

Not necessarily -- there are theories that life as we know it (really, the whole observable universe) is fundamentally no more than a certain pattern of information organization. IOW, there's no "reality" separate from "simulation".
