Hey, it's only business.  What good are billions when you can't push old people around? Of course the Waggoner people didn't help but hurray, #### everyone.

Of course he closed most of the booze stands the last few years at the dome to make it an even worse experience which was still a worse crime against humanity. What a miserable piece of ####.  He can't die a terrible death soon enough.

So what's the right play here?  Give them the land?  This owner may be a ##### but the people should have known better than buy a house on land they don't own.  Sad but I don't see a problem .

Plus you shouldn't feed wildlife.

Maybe continue to lease them the land?  He wasn't forced to buy the land and he isn't forced to evict them.  He's doing it because he can.  It's only business right?

He can do what he wants.  Doesn't mean he should.

I'm really confused as well.  They own the building, but not the land?  And they had annual renewals?  Seems like a recipe for this exact scenario.

Sorry, you assumed everything was always going to stay the same, but this is the real world.  Kroenke may be a greedy bastage, but these people left themselves wide open.  Apparently these kind of leases are often like 99 year agreements or at least longer term.

This quote from the comments section says it best.

What I see is a great example of the tactics that made America Powerful, Psychopathic/Sociopathic Materialistic Capitalism, Use legalities to manipulate and take land from the people who don't understand the law and have very little resources to help them protect their homes or their land. Have people in place of power in the legal system that you can pay off to further your agenda and protect your image. I am shocked at the outrage that people are expressing about Mr. Kroenke, he has done nothing Wrong. However, since when was it ever about right and wrong in this country? Never, it is about what is legal and illegal, and I would add this, Kroenke is setting a precedent, if he as a billiionaire can do this and get away with it, what is going to stop the next billionaire, group of billionaires, or powerful corporation with billions of dollars of assets? and if you think these people have a conscious, morals, or ethics . . . keep dreaming, we live in a world where people like Stan Kroenke are above the law because they have enough money to be above the law, it is these same people that laid the foundation for how America was built, They are not willing to give up their power nor are they willing to compromise. So before we all get ready to send Kroenke to the gates of hell, perhaps we need to send the system that allows men like Stan Kroenke to get to the point where they can just destroy people's homes to the gatres of hell too, but I doubt that will happen I do not see enough of a resolve amongst people in this country to take on the real criminals like Kroenke. Nope they will just continue believing the crap on TV while they believe men like Stan Kroenke are going to create jobs and trickle down the wealth. Then when they find they have been lied to they want to go grab a gun and shoot other people who are innocents as opposed to shooting the system that allows this kind of thing to occur over and over again but if you to scared to stand up and live then the only alternative is exploiation and death.

Houses that are almost a century old should just about qualify for some form of historical protection or something, no?  Gotta be some disgruntled lawyer or historian or ecologist or something in St. Louis who would like to make this painful for him.

If you have a problem with it, the legal system is built to combat this.  Not building a house on a piece of land you don't own is probably law 101 type stuff, though.

We don't give rich people free reign in this country, no matter how much the above socialist wants to believe that.  It is certainly easier for the rich to get what they want, but there are proper channels to stop/slow the greedy when they cross lines.  However, this isn't one of those lines.

Is this serious? The guy owns the land. He might be a ####, but he isnt manipulating anyone or anything.

This quote from the comments section says it best.
He bought land that had as part of it leases to people who own their home but lease the land.  Unless there is a specific restriction in the property records in that state, then he can not renew the lease.  In that he isn't above the law, using the law to his advantage, cheating people, stealing, or doing anything that this post says it is.  So it actually says it not best, but worst because it makes no sense.

I don't see the problem nor the need to attack a property owner for enforcing his property rights.  It's not because he is rich that the law here favors him (if it does).  It's because he is a property owner and our legal system has, since its inception, taken property rights very seriously.

Maybe.  But I doubt it for that state.

It sounds as if the seller screwed these people over just as bad as Kroenke is trying to.

And JFC, buying a house on land you don't own that is leased on a year-to-year basis is just indescribably stupid.

That doesn't make his actions okay, but there is plenty of blame to go around.

I'm sure if Kroenke knew that he couldn't get them off the land easily, he wouldn't have bought the land.  The sellers likely pointed that out when putting the property up for sale.  If it wasn't Kroenke, it likely would have been someone else.

No, no, no.  IT'S ONLY BUSINESS!!  How is a guy supposed to get by on a measly 8 billion?  He has a family to feed.
yes it is only business and he decided not to renew the lease. Sucks for the old folks but it is his land.   No nothing of this guy but OP clearly hates him and is likely jealous of his money  and is probably a socialist.  Nothing to see here except an angry/jealous OP in his own thread not going the way OP expected.

Really? Totally cool to buy some land and evict a community of mostly elderly people, because, you know, it's totally legal.

Oh no. Not at all.  That certainly isn't case the case here either.  Heck, I was just telling my wife this when we purchased 800 square miles that stretched over six counties in Texas.

Instead of you know posting a notice that upon the homeowners death the lease will be terminated. You know something that would not throw people out of their homes.

It is not Kroenke's fault that dumb people bought houses on land that they did not own.  Kroenke is not at fault here.  Dumb decisions usually have poor outcomes.

Yes it's totally legal. If you live under. Year to year lease then,by definition there is a chance the property owner refuses to renew at,somepoint.

He never said it was illegal just an ahole move which it clearly is.

To the streets with them for not being business savvy!

Again, legal. I KNOW IT'S LEGAL.  That doesn't make it right.  Man, I used to like you. ;)
Why is it wrong? I could see if he was trying to break a long term land lease but he apparently isn't.

I still like you. I just deal with property stuff too much I guess.

harsh story. Texas man's suicide note blames Rams owner Stan Kroenke

On the one hand, its wrong to blame Kroenke for this man's suicide. People across the country face hardship every day as bad or worse than being evicted and its not Kroenke's fault that one of his eviction targets was prone to suicide. And of course Kroenke is legally entitled to buy this property and evict these residents. But the way he's going about this is heartless, cruel and seems unnecessary. Its hard to imagine what kind of character it takes to do this. I wonder whether Kroenke feels any remorse or loses any sleep over being hated and despised by so many.

This type of thing happens all over the country to mobile home owners when they close the trailer park and I guess I am failing to see the difference here.

Stan obviously has so much money, he probably has some wedged up his ###. So, if he could afford to buy so much land it could almost be a state, he could also afford to not be a diseased c*nt and throw these people a bone. It'd take, what, 0.5% of the purchase price of all that land to make them whole?

You can be a capitalist and still have a heart. Helping these people would be like pocket change to us. But Stan has proven that he sold his soul to the greed gods long ago.

Hate is a strong word, but I absolutely loathe this mother ####er and I hope he gets hit by a bus.
