Such an endorsement, from the grave.
Trump didn't have very nice things to say about Phil Donahue at the time:

Such truly conspicuous consumption not long ago moved smart-alecky Phil Donahue to attempt to roast DJ good on live television. "My God, Donahue," Trump fumes. "He's sitting over there in an apartment on 5th Avenue and he has the nerve to criticize me for living well? I will have created 16,000 jobs in Atlantic City, I pay tremendous taxes, we buy bonds for housing, and then I have to sit there and listen to Donahue tell me about greedy?"

Indeed, Trump came off much the better on that broadcast. "The audience loved me." Hundreds of viewers wrote him. 'I was so embarrassed by Phil Donahue`s treatment of you . . . It's unfortunate that jealousy makes people behave so badly . . . I will never watch him again. . . .'

"He's the people's billionaire," says Ivana Trump, not without pride.

"You have no idea. Middle-class Americans adore Donald, and I don`t know why."

"They shouldn't," she says. "They should resent him. He's young and wealthy and he flaunts it."

"Yeah, I find I get along better with the construction workers and the cab drivers," Trump agrees. "The people who count in the world. Working people respect the fact that I built this company by myself. People like Donahue, they don't dig it. They'd like it for themselves."

Surrounded by magazine covers of himself, arranged on his office wall in gilded frames, Trump is grumbling how fed up he is with sitting for interviews.

"I get 35 requests a day and I have no time to work." Dumb reporters give him a real pain. He is still smarting over the recent cover story in Time magazine. "Shallow piece of. . ." he seethes. "I didn`t like that lady. A horrid reporter who sits there telling me she's in the process of ripping off her husband in a divorce battle. She has this chip on her shoulder, and I'm saying to myself, why do I have to get this . . . ."

The Time profile had Trump conducting a spooky tour of the Manhattan triplex. "They made me sound like Howard Hughes. I don't consider myself eccentric, and I'm sick and tired of reading about how I buy, buy, buy. Nobody concentrates on the hard work to get the possessions. I built this company by myself."

It's amazing how much this piece from 1989 mirrors what Donald is saying in 2016.

One more quote for the Two Corinthians crowd:

Heading upstairs for dinner with his children, Donald Trump looks back, hesitating, wanting to finish: "No. I don't believe in reincarnation, heaven or hell -- but we go someplace."

Why Marco Rubio decided to morph into a 12-year-old

By Laura Clawson

Marco Rubio’s sudden barrage of spray tan jokes and small **** taunts against Donald Trump isn’t the sign of a candidate who’s personally melting down. It’s the sign of a campaign that sees time running out and has made a calculated decision to get attention by whatever means necessary:

“We came to the conclusion that if being a part of the circus is the price you have to pay in order for us to ultimately be able to talk about substantive policy, then that’s what we’re going to do,” said Todd Harris, a senior Rubio adviser.

Mr. Harris noted that Mr. Rubio’s speeches were now being carried live on television. And if the price of admission, he added, was talking about “how Trump is a con man, with a bad spray tan,” so be it.

The notion that Rubio would otherwise be talking about substantive policy is more than a little amusing, but that’s the benefit of being the establishment’s favored candidate: You get to insinuate that your opponent has a small penis while claiming, with a straight face, to be all about substance yourself.

Rubio still lags badly in most states for which we have polling.

Despite Oliver's hate he likes Trump. This is going to be great folly for him all year...really Oliver should send Trump a donation.

Any GOP, click on Oliver, it's hilarious even if you love Trump.

Oliver to his credit does the best job of showing Trump and allowing folks to form their opinions. I think he shows a lot of restraint and I honestly believe while he disagrees with much of Trump that he in some way respects him. I think he even said that on the air. Oliver is smart, he is going to get a lot of space for a lot of jokes if Trump wins the nomination, no reason to go overboard yet.

The worst clip was Ivanka as a teenager or much younger than present. I'm sure Oliver did at least one thing in his life or said at least one thing he wishes he hadn't. I would shy away from using the kids much, they seem like decent people in general.

Liberal lynch mobs out in force.
Yes, how dare they ask about David Duke and the KKK. The nerve of those uppity reporters to question Christie about that subject matter just days after he endorsed Trump and appeared on stage with him at a rally.

Are we going to go through this again?  Trump has disavowed David Duke 3 times now.  He disavowed him on Friday and Jake Tapper knew this.  He was there when Trump said it.  But he asked the question again, either to make Trump look bad or to trip him up.  It's a Liberal lynch mob.

Obama refused to disavow Louis Farakhan in a 2008 Town Hall, despite being pressed.  The Liberal media let it go.  They didn't crash the press conferences of those who endorsed Obama and hound them about it did they?  Or did I miss that part?

Liberal lynch mob.  This is how they go things - by shaming and initimidating.  And you wonder why there is such a backlash going on against Progressives and the media right now.

Did you miss the news yesterday and Trump being questioned on the Sunday shows about this?

It is not old news, even though you insist otherwise. Any reporter who were to interview or ask a question of Christie would be obligated to ask his view on this and if they didn't they should be given their pink slip immediately by their editor or boss.

I love it that asking someone about the leading news item yesterday on the internet, new shows, and social media is considered a liberal lynch mob.

In that point Louis Farrakhan has now joined the list of extremists praising Trump.

I didn't miss yesterday's news.  We talked about it all day in here.  Tapper was looked for Trump to repudiate the Duke endorsement.  Trump already repudiated Duke in August, and at a press conference two days ago that Tapper attended.  Tapper asked the questions anyway, either to embarrass Trump or piss him off.  But not to get an answer to the question, because he already got it on Friday.  And a few hours after the Tapper interview Trump tweeted out AGAIN that he disavows David Duke's endorsement.

This is how the liberal media operates today, by making news rather than reporting the facts. And so today they hound Christie, who is holding a press conference on a court nominee and indicated beforehand that he would only take questions on that issue, and what does the press do?  They violate his request and ask him the Trump questions.  And when he refuses to answer they (and you) spin it as him moving on from Trump.  It's crap, plain and simple.

Christie endorses Trump in a press conference. Christie introduces Trump at a rally. Christie's endorsement is seen as a huge plus for Trump and may help him secure the nomination. Talk of Christie being his VP choice or Attorney General in a Trump cabinet. Biggest news story Sunday is the controversy about the Trump/Duke/KKK connection, yet you think it is unfair for reporters to question Christie about it?

And the funniest thing was seeing Christie turning into such a wuss facing reporters.

It's been nice watching people who don't support Trump go through the cycle of grief.

Hopefully we can move onto acceptance soon.

You know things are bad when the Trump supporters would rather hang out in the ####Lib thread than over here.

Has everyone made their pledge of allegiance to Trump?

let that sink in.
He did it again!

Donald Trump again asks audience for loyalty via 'pledge' reminiscent of fascist salute

GettyImages-513910372.jpg

Once again Donald Trump has requested that his rally audience pledge loyalty to him, personally—resulting once again in images that a great many people find disturbing.

Donald Trump on Monday again asked supporters at a rally to pledge their support to the GOP presidential candidate by raising their right hand amid suggestions from critics that the gesture resembles the "Heil Hitler" salute. [...]

"Should we do the pledge? Should we do the pledge?" Trump asked supporters. "Raise your hand: 'I swear I'm going to vote for Donald Trump next week, I swear.'"

Among those "critics:” Former Anti-Defamation League director Abe Foxman, who calls Trump's actions deliberate.

“As a Jew who survived the Holocaust, to see an audience of thousands of people raising their hands in what looks like the ‘Heil Hitler’ salute is about as offensive, obnoxious and disgusting as anything I thought I would ever witness in the United States of America,” he told The Times of Israel. [...]

“It is a fascist gesture,” Foxman said. “He is smart enough — he always tells us how smart he is — to know the images that this evokes. Instead of asking his audience to pledge allegiance to the United States of America, which in itself would be a little bizarre, he’s asking them to swear allegiance to him.”

Furthermore, Foxman added, “He even threatens that if they don’t, they will suffer and be punished. This is so over the top for a man who really doesn’t come out of the underground. He is a man of the world. Even though he proclaims he doesn’t know who David Duke was, or the other white supremacists, we know very well that he knows. So he’s playing to an image.”

There's no way Trump didn't know how the photos of his last, identical "pledge" were received. So yes, it's safe to say this time around it was a deliberate act.
