Where to report a bad lawyer? (1 Viewer)

After winning the case roughly 3 years ago I am still waiting for amended divorce papers to sign from my ex wife's lawyer.

For over a year he keeps blowing me off despite being extremely patient. I call every 2-3 months and he tells me he will send them in a couple of weeks and doesn't do so.

what is my next course of action? Who do I complain to to get this finished?

It's a minor nuisance at most.

I won the case he's just dragging his feet doing the paperwork.

I just want to get it over with. Not like I'm planning to marry again ever.

File a complaint with the bar association in your state.

Every 2-3 months?  Try every 2-3 hours - that will get the job done.

 
You don't actually need to go to the bar. Just tell your lawyer you are really frustrated that she hasn't sent you the paperwork in over a year. And that you want it this week. Because you don't want to have to report her to the bar, or file a negative report on yelp or avvo - but she is forcing your hand. And you will do it if she forces you.

And then, of course, do those things if she still doesn't respond.

Can you explain what actually you won?  You have no house.  No car.  No property so to speak of.  No pension.  No retirement.  I doubt you have one paycheck worth of savings.  Your ex is probably worth more and is the winner in all this.

I won the ability to not pay child support and legal fees.

Thats a pretty big win.

ill let you figure out the rest of your conjectures.

I have a terrible notebook and memory- but I actually remember this one...

wasn't his kid, even though she kept making the claim. they even went on jerry springer to prove it. I might have made that last part up- but the first part I'm pretty sure about.

lot of folk being pretty mean here, IMO.

It is hard to keep track.  What is this, his 5th alias?  I think three aliases ago he drew me as a big hairy ball.

hint:  lawyers don't work for free.  

he doesn't work for you, and she's not paying him.  he's not going to do jack for you.

You should ask a lawyer what to do.
