AngelList - what is this? (1 Viewer)

I'm starting to get inundated with invitations to join AngelList.  I really don't think a lot of those people personally invited me.  Probably accessed some social network and is sending to all.  I've just deleted all requests to date but keep getting more.  Anybody know whether this is of real use? I'm in the software world but am at pre-Chet levels, so not in a position to be an Angel investor for anybody yet.  Anybody join?  Benefit?

I have never used it, but figured it was a Yelp for contractors that's a paid service so that quality/integrity are maintained.
