The fringe elements of the left appear to be moving further and further towards full blown lunacy. What do you, more reasonable democrats, think of stuff like this? Do you worry, like many republicans for example, that you party has left you or that it's being commandeered by lunatics? As you see more and more of this type of absurdity does it make you more likely to switch parties/consider 3rd party options?

As you can see by Hillary's win, the Democratic Party isn't being commandeered by these nuts.

Those are probably the same lunatics that think the country can stay a float while providing free healthcare and college to everyone.

Yeah, this isn't the Democrats.  This is some silly college kids that are misguided.  

Do you get the sense that Hillary is pandering to these people, like, for example, Trump is to the lunatic right?

That's a rhetorical question, of course, Hillary is more conservative than Trump is on a lot of things.  Soooo, what's the point of this post?

It can.  The U.S. spends more per capita on health care alone than other countries pay for free health care and college combined.

The DoD takes up a huge chunk of the budget.  There is likely a greater chance of cutting into that, as their is reducing tuition & healthcare cost.

I certainly agree that looking into cutting defense spending would be a good thing to do for the country. But "greater chance of cutting into that" than reducing healthcare and tuition costs? GTFO. No effing way most of Congress even thinks about putting significant defense cuts on the table.

What part is lunacy?  The fact that protesters blocked a bridge?  That college students in minority groups want safe spaces? Both?

Funny thing is if you do a news search for this, only Fox and right rag Washington Times have anything on this.  You'd think with all the college kids using social media you'd see more from them on Twitter, but you don't.  Odd business, that.

They're overreacting but that's what college kids do and in no way is the party getting commandeered by lunatics. The Dems are still way to the right of most of the governing parties in western Europe. But we're working on that.

 
Question about these 'safe spaces'...what are white people doing that is so threatening that it requires 'safe spaces' for minorities?  This seems like such a made up issue, especially in a place like Berkeley.

 
In video of the protest, the so-called anti-racism protesters were seen denying passage across the bridge to white students — shouting “go around” — while happily allowing students of color to pass through.

LOL that college students protesting perceived discrimination against minorities are immediately branded left-wing lunatics. Is Fox News saying that no one on the right could possibly care about such things?  No wonder the GOP is in a death spiral.

Assuming you are talking about Bernie's proposals, they aren't free, and nobody is claiming they are except people on the right.

Here's a fun fact about the Right in 2016: The Westboro Baptist Church no longer represents the worst of them. Not even close. The have actual terrorists and Nazis in their ranks now.  The Westboro Baptist Church is pretty much middle of the road for the Right at this juncture.
