Official S####horpe United Thread- Iron, hot! (1 Viewer)

yeah... I"m sure that's the part that he hated.
That's the only "part" he could acknowledge, he was scared to death of Grandpop, my uncles & my Dad.  In other words, that repressed ol'  Dutch f*** hated Eyetalians, & had to take it out on us repressed Irishmen/brothers...hence; UP THE PROVOS!

@Sinn Fein

3-1, good guys.

interestingly, the other game in the group ended up as a draw, with Doncaster Rovers beating Grimsby Town on PKs. That win was only worth 2 points for DR, and 1 for GT. So the ####s are sitting on top with 3 points.

8 games into Leeg One, the ####s are sitting 6th on 15pts- 4pts behind Wigan for the 2nd promotion spot.

playing 12th ranked pompey tomorrow am- should be on most of the major US networks at 10am.

COME ON YOU ####S

Club statement - https://www.s####horpe-united.co.uk/news/2018/march/club-statement/ … S####horpe United FC can confirm that Manager Graham Alexander and Assistant Manager Neil McDonald have this evening both been relieved of their duties.
:o   sitting in 5th place, 3-6 make the promotion playoffs... 1 win in their last 13 matches (7 draws)

Come on You Irons!!

At the other end of the table, AFC Wimbledon sits 2 points above the drop with 8 games left to play.   Franchise FC is currently holding down one of the four relegation spots.

The Dons' run-in looks scary with some tough games including a home match vs. S####horpe upcoming.  It may come down to a six pointer on the final day of the campaign against current bottom dwellers Bury.

Scünthorpe United have announced former Bradford and Rangers manager Stuart McCall as the club’s new first team manager.

McCall replaces Nick Daws, who was sacked on Friday.

Scünthorpe are 18th in League One, with five points from five games.

are there new/different financial issues at play this year?

seems like they're a pretty steady league one presence- came close to promotion spots last year and I think have been in the the championship a couple of times this century.

It's tough to read financial wherewithal of lower division clubs since a lot of players are home grown, loanees or join on free transfers.  It's also  easy for an ambitious new owner to come in at this level and disrupt club finances.

According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, S####horpe is fourth in L1 total market value (Wimbledon is 21st) but a big chunk of that is because they've brought in England U20 back Cameron Borthwick-Jackson on loan from Manchester United.  Sunderland is the obvious whale in the league.  If they don't go back up this season, it'll be an upset of Leicester City proportions.

The Dons' big second half comeback fell short.  Three points from the last five is a bit concerning.

Kevin van Veen returns!

S####horpe United is delighted to announce striker Kevin van Veen has rejoined the club from Northampton Town.

The Dutchman arrives back at Glanford Park on a two-and-a-half year deal for an undisclosed fee after departing the side just under 12 months ago.

Now 27, the frontman played in the second division of Dutch football, otherwise known as the Eerste Divisie, and notched 16 goals in 20 games for Oss prior to United bringing him to England in January 2015.

While with the Iron, he scored 23 goals in 116 appearances over a three-year spell, including some spectacular solo efforts against the likes of Swindon Town, Oldham Athletic and Fleetwood Town.

Van Veen departed the club for an undisclosed fee at the end of January 2018, signing for League One rivals Northampton Town. He made ten appearances for the Cobblers towards the end of the season, but couldn’t prevent the side from relegation to League Two.

He’s enjoyed a successful campaign so far though, scoring ten goals in 28 appearances in all competitions.

Not content with just one signing, Scünthorpe United won't stop until they are at the top:

S####horpe United is delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Adam Hammill on an 18-month contract.

The 30-year-old arrives at Glanford Park following a short-term spell with Scottish Premier League side St Mirren, having scored four goals in 13 appearances.

Hammill was a graduate of Liverpool’s academy, where he was a member from the age of nine, winning the FA Youth Cup in 2006. Over the next three years he’d be loaned to Dunfermline, Southampton, Blackpool and Barnsley. He made his stay permanent with the latter team in 2009.

After two seasons at Oakwell, where he scored 12 goals in 64 league appearances, he was subject to interest from clubs in the Premier League. Wolverhampton Wanderers would be the eventual suitors and, over a two-year stay, he would make 23 appearances for the side.

Throughout that spell with Wolves, he was loaned to Middlesbrough and Huddersfield Town. The Terriers made that move permanent in 2013, with Hammill going onto make 50 appearances and score four goals in his two-year stint.

He spent the latter part of his contract on loan at Rotherham United, but it was Barnsley who tempted him back for a third spell in 2015. During that third spell with the Tykes, he was part of a squad which emerged victorious in the play-offs in 2015-16, along with also picking up the Checkatrade Trophy.

He left Oakwell last summer, totalling 199 appearances across his three spells there, scoring 26 goals.

Hammill’s stay in Scotland came to an end at the start of the month, allowing him to join the Iron and become the side’s third signing of the January transfer window.

This move is subject to international clearance.

They seem to be quite "delighted" this year...nttawwt.

Dons hold on for the three points.   That makes four wins from the last five.  They've been a revelation since Wally Downes took over.

Controversial game today.  S####horpe scored a 58th minute equalizer after intercepting a throw from the Argyle keeper.  He was trying to put the ball out of play after an injury.

Plymouth went back ahead 11 minutes later but both teams were relegated to League 2.
