This doesn't bother me too much. I just think it's funny that the biggest celebrity names that they could come up with were Elvis Presley and Babe Ruth.

About time those guys got their due, eh?

I wonder how long it took to ask and be rejected by every A list celeb that's alive.

Wow, Macron completely rebuked Trump as Trump was forced to sit and listen: “Nationalism is the opposite of patriotism.”

Ah yes the Congress of Vienna is how we got here, or why Trump was really thinking about Clausewitz when he decided ‘nah, it’s raining, let’s stay in and watch Judge Jeanine instead.’

Were you expecting Chuck Berry and Hank Aaron?

Not this President.

Even for Washington, the capital of do-overs and the soulless swamp where horrendous mistakes never prevent you from cashing in and getting another security clearance, this is a repellent spectacle. War criminals-turned-liberal heroes are festooned with book and TV contracts, podcasts and op-ed perches.

Those who sold us the Iraq war and the outrageously unprepared Sarah Palin... torture as ‘enhanced interrogation’... who left the Middle East shattered... and who midwifed the birth of the Tea Party are washing away their sins in a basin of Trump hate.

How do you like your norms broken? Over Twitter or in a torture memo? By a tinpot demagogue stomping on checks and balances he can’t even fathom or a shadowy authoritarian expertly and quietly dismantling checks and balances he knows are sacred?

Yes to this but also i think we should embrace the swarms of people now becoming interested in politics/current events and not run them off. We have do be careful.

####### sickening. I can't believe this is the US we live in.  If the GOP weren't spineless, cowards they would make her concede immediately.

Well it’s obvious, she was responding to an invitation to a speaking engagement, and replied with an expression of regard.

Apparently a hanging is simply a speaking engagement, good opportunity to rally the voters

Ironic that the commercial starts with "A storm is coming..."

Someone needs to edit the commercial to show Trumpy Bear hiding in his hotel room, watching Fox News and eating KFC.

Not an accident that language like that could flow from you so easily. Who even has public hanging in their vernacular? Maybe its a southern thing.

The Florida Election should be called in favor of Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis in that large numbers of new ballots showed up out of nowhere, and many ballots are missing or forged. An honest vote count is no longer possible-ballots massively infected. Must go with Election Night!

This is so incredibly messed up. Unless he has some kind of proof or reliable source of information on this, it is not hyperbole to call this Banana Republic Dictator stuff.

Regardless of political affiliation, we should all agree that it's incredibly dangerous for the President to be saying things like this without any proof.

Even if he had proof, he shouldn't say it. He's attempting to interfere with an election.

As usual, he just doesn't understand or care about what the Presidents' role is in our democratic system, how sacred the office he holds is, or what it means to uphold democracy.

He's a disgrace.

I don't think "sacred" is a word in Trump's dictionary.

Gallup: Trump's approval rating drops to lowest number (38%) since February

That's a 6 point drop in just 3 weeks. Obama's approval rating never dipped that much in such a short timespan.

And since Trump supporters love so much to compare Trump's numbers to Obama, I feel that it's only fair to report that Obama had a higher approval rating after the 2010 midterms.

If Rasmussen is more your game, then I feel that it's only fair to report that Obama had a 47% approval rating on the Monday after Election Day in 2010, whereas Trump is currently at 46% in the same poll.

So, to sum up:

Obama, during recession, after losing House in landslide: 47%

Trump, during booming economy, after very close to complete victory: 46%

You mean like how Kemp charged that the Democrats tried to hack the election without any details or proof?  Not even a date of the alleged event or how it was supposedly stopped?

Maybe it's just me but anyone else notice how all of the voter suppression and basis allegations falls 100% on the Republican side?

I’m perfectly willing to ascribe bad motives to Trump and maybe they exist anyway, however I just think the guy doesn’t understand the election system. Of course it’s just as dangerous.

I don't quite know what to make of Axios as a news/information source - but I thought this was a good look at the three big issues standing in the way of Trump's re-election:

https://www.axios.com/donald-trump-2020-presidential-election-chances-86143c8b-9045-414d-b61a-80d67be9107a.html

1.  Mid-term results - demographics are running away from the GOP nationally, and in key states.  Dems recovered in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania to make Trump's path much tougher without those states.  Latino populations are on the rise in the south and southwest.

2.  2 years worth of investigations.  Dems have to be careful here - but if done right, the House is going to subpoena Trump to death, and he also faces investigations from Mueller and New York State.

3.  Economics.  We have been riding a recovery for a long-time now - a recession over the next couple of years is likely as part of the economic cycle.  And, because Trump has already pulled the tax cut, and deficit spending levers during the recovery - there won't be much he can do, policy-wise.

Nielsen may be out at DHS.

>>President Trump has told advisers he has decided to remove Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, and her departure from the administration is likely to occur in the coming weeks, if not sooner, according to five current and former White House officials.

Trump canceled a planned trip with Nielsen this week to visit U.S. troops at the border in South Texas and told aides over the weekend that he wants her out as soon as possible, these officials said. The president has grumbled for months about what he views as Nielsen’s lackluster performance on immigration enforcement and is believed to be looking for a replacement who will implement his policy ideas with more alacrity.

The announcement could come as soon as this week, three of these officials said. <<

I've mentioned this before- IMO David Roth is by far the best writer we have when it comes to documenting the  experience of the Trump presidency in real time.  He wrote a new column yesterday: This is All Donald Trump Has Left.  Great stuff.  Some excerpts:

Quote

His politics, to the extent that they’ve ever been legible, have always been off-the-rack big city tabloid bull####—crudely racist exterminate the brutes/back the blue authoritarianism in the background and ruthless petty rich person squabbling in the front. His actions since becoming president have been those of a dim, cruel child playacting at being a powerful man—giving orders without quite knowing what they mean or how they might be carried out, taunting enemies, beating up the people he can afford to beat up without having to be called to account for it, lying as needed or just for yuks. He hasn’t changed a thing since graduating from punchline to president. It’s been clear for decades that Trump was both an ###hole and a dummy; this is now a problem not just for the odd unlucky cocktail waitress and his staff of cheesy apparatchiks but for literally every person on earth.

...

Trump has no such pretense or noble aspiration, and has only made the country more like himself; living in his America feels like being trapped in a garish casino that is filling with seawater, because that is what it is.

...

His fears transparently run the show, both the normal human fear of failing and the more specific ones he picks up on the cable news channel he watches, which splits its broadcast day between fulsomely flattering coverage of him and armchair generalship in a sprawling race war the network is imagineering out of rhetorical abstraction and into bloody existence. Watching hours of that every day would destabilize anyone; for Trump, who is very vain and very stupid and has always cared more about TV than anyone should, the result is equilibrium, or entropy.

...

Trump and a lot of the people in his thrall are, it seems safe to say, gone. They will continue to walk among us—Trump will be in a golf cart—but they will never come back. They are somewhere else. There is nothing they are not prepared to believe if the right people say it; they will choose the right lie over any truth not just without regret but with pride.

It's depressing as hell, but also somehow satisfying to read someone capturing the wide-ranging absurdity and stupidity of this moment so perfectly.
