You know how you (both personally and in the general sense) have that internal gatekeeper of traffic between thoughts and voice; the TSA, Thought Security Agency.  It asks for papers, some are verified and sent through.  Others are incomplete and sent off to a refining department.  Some are just plain incorrect and sent back from whence they came.

This agency must’ve been the first to get the axe from the budgetary red pen of this administration because it just ain’t working.  BUILD THE WALL! we scream as all these bad hombre thoughts continue to infest our country!

It was a throwaway scene in an otherwise great movie. Did nothing for the plot, just a way for Trump to massage his ego in the 90s.
I read a piece that said whenever Trump allowed filming in one of his hotels he had a stipulation that he had to have a cameo in the movie. He had a similar arrangment with Scent of a Woman for instance. So they literally had to drag Pacino out, waste an hour of crew time, have Pacino shake his hand and say" hello Mr. Trump" and move on. Most movies cut the scene of course but somehow Home Alone included it.

Since you asked...

Trump, in my opinion, appeals to the lowest common denominator in this country and that is best exemplified by a trailer park. That is considered (rightfully or wrongfully) as the bottom rung of living conditions (as far as being in a dwelling is concerned) and that (the bottom rung) is where the Trump presidency has brought us as a country. Metaphorically speaking, it seemed appropriate to me.

It’s a good thing that Russia our friend now

MOSCOW (AP) — A new intercontinental weapon that can fly 27 times the speed of sound became operational Friday, Russia’s defense minister reported to President Vladimir Putin, bolstering the country’s nuclear strike capability.
@SaintsInDome2006 or other Russia watchers...

What exactly does Putin hope to gain from igniting the 2nd Cold War?  They know they aren't going to have a bootlicker in the Oval Office forever and that Congress is likely to act in any event.  So, how does this stuff help them?

FWIW, it seems like the Interwar period where Russia stirred #### up in Germany, but you'd have thought tens of millions of war dead would have scratched that itch.

They have an economy about the size of Italy. Allows them to play in the big boy sand box without having a big boy economy. Just my thoughts.

In short, IMO Putin since roughly 2004-2006 has been working to ensure the regime is never threatened by the sort of democratic uprisings that happened in Ukraine and the former ex-USSR republics. I don't think he wants war, he just wants to create a new arms race to spur nationalism at home and allow his oligarchs to make quite a lot of money along the way. - One concern though is that the situation that is building is actually riskier than the Cold War because in a weird way the old guard was bound by a set of rules of dealing with the US and the US itself had layers of experience and informal rules of dealing with the Soviets. Those old guardrails are nearly gone now.

Somehow I missed this Jon Voight video (which Trump amplified today when he tweeted about Voight and his movie because he hates his job and would rather do literally anything else).

Voight does a great job alleviating concerns from those of us who may have previously described a substantial swath of Trump's followers as exhibiting cult-like characteristics.
If you ever wondered what side of the family Angelina inherited the crazy from, there is your answer.

Thanks for the thoughts.

That last bit is what I was referring to with the Interwar Germany comment.  Stirrng up the West right now feels very dangerous.

Ok President Donald “Archie Bunker” Trump. When ever I see a reference to “All in the Family” I can’t help but think how much the uneducated  Archie Bunker with his awful vocabulary would have loved President Trump. Wind “mills”? Spewing out fumes? What does the Donald think these wind turbines are power by some kind of a combustion engine? The only thing I do agree with him somewhat is they do kill some birds

Sounds like he’d like to annex Belorussia if he can get away with it.

Was listening to Dan Carlins wwI podcast and realized Trump will be remembered the way Rasputin was.

Of course the two characters have many differences but the bizarreness of it all is similar.  The cult/conman/sex elements are all there too.

I'm going to have to disagree with you there.

This seems like a lot of the same hyperbole, drama and over the top rhetoric we've been hearing for the last 3 years. I mean at some point you just have to roll your eyes at this stuff.

Nothing Less Than a Civil War’: These White Voters on the Far Right See Doom Without Trump

"They label us white nationalists, or white supremacists,” volunteered Guy Taiho Decker, who drove from California to attend the event. A right-wing protester, he has previously been arrested on charges of making terrorist threats.

“There’s no such thing as a white supremacist, just like there’s no such thing as a unicorn,” Mr. Decker said. “We’re patriots.”
I don’t have a problem with Muslims,” said Angus Smith, an Arizona resident who attended the festival, “but can they take the rag off their head out of respect for our country?”
There is no difference between the democratic socialists and the National Socialists,” said Evan Sayet, a conservative writer who spoke at the event, referencing Nazi Germany. Democrats, he said, “are the heirs to Adolf Hitler.”
Stacey Goodman, a former police officer from New York who retired to Arizona and attended Trumpstock, said her distrust of Mr. Obama’s birth certificate had led her to Mr. Trump.“If you’re Muslim, just tell us you’re Muslim,” she said of Mr. Obama. “It’s not that I didn’t believe him, I’m just not qualified to answer that question. I’ve seen information on both sides that’s compelling.”
The embrace of conspiracy theories has frustrated some establishment Republicans and moderate Republican voters, who urge Mr. Trump to embrace a more traditional communication style.

His base disagrees.

“Please never stop tweeting,” Ms. Fishman sings in one of her songs, titled “Thank You President Trump.” “I can hardly wait to see what I’ll be reading.”
Mark Villalta said he had been stockpiling firearms, in case Mr. Trump’s re-election is not successful.

“Nothing less than a civil war would happen,” Mr. Villalta said, his right hand reaching for a holstered handgun. “I don’t believe in violence, but I’ll do what I got to do.”
My God this is disturbing.

Way more of these folks than we’d like to believe.  They truly worship Trump and see him as the last crusader for a European centric US.
clinton was right in that trump has managed to bring all the deplorables in society together under one umbrella and celebrate their ignorance and violence

Nothing says tolerance like referring to muslim headwear as rags

Don’t agree.  People are frustrated and somehow Trump convinced them he cared and would improve their lives.
i don't agree with that either...he has energized the deplorable.  He has given them a voice to punch people in the face when they don't like them.  He has given them a voice that even though they aren't educated their opinions are facts and the everything is a simple black and white solution that they've always known.

Trump won because he convinced enough people he cared about them and bringing their jobs back
