The Good Place (1 Viewer)

I'm not fully caught up so I'm not reading through the whole thread, but man is this show awesome. I love all the Michael Schur shows, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised but this is already right up there with Parks and Rec, which is my favorite comedy/sitcom show.

Love it.
Much better than Parks based on a comparison of the respective first seasons alone.

Yeah, Parks and Rec doesn’t hit its stride until season 3 when Ben and Chris show up. This has been great right from the start, though I’ll be curious to see how it lasts considering how unique the shifting premises are.

Aw man.   When I finally looked up the creator and saw he was on The Office and Parks I figured we were set for a solid 7-8 seasons.

Hopefully inspiration strikes and ratings stay strong and we get a 4th.  I'm still not a good person yet.

Season 3 just two weeks away - Sept. 27

In the meantime, I just realized there was a The Good Place podcast.  I'm just a couple episodes in, but I recommend it for any fans of the show.

Holy motherforking shirtballs! This is the official comedy and entertainment podcast for NBC's TV show The Good Place. Subscribe and you'll get weekly behind-the-scenes stories, episode and performance insights and funny anecdotes. Hosted by actor Marc Evan Jackson (Shawn) with a rotating slate of co-hosts and special guests, including actors, writers, producers and more, this podcast takes a deep dive into everything on- and off-screen.

I lost track of this one on initial airing, but when I heard about the direction it took I was intrigued and revisited.  Great fun and looking forward to new episodes.

Of the main cast, only Danson and Bell knew where the show was going from the beginning.  Here's a video of Michael Schur telling the rest of the main cast about the season finale.
I missed this the first time around (probably avoiding spoilers as I gave the show a second chance and ended up loving it), but they made a reference to it on the first podcast.  Such great reactions.

I've watched the episodes more times than I'd care to admit, and was surprised how the podcast revealed even more (e.g., Eleanor's home set was designed to be uncomfortable)

I had a meeting on the NBC lot and was glad to see they still have the main town area dressed for the show. Even if they're not shooting there, it's up for the tourists on the tram. Took a few selfies right in the middle of the set.
Did you get any hot ocean milk with dead animal croutons?

Pod topic ... very interesting info on sets, casting ... again, worth listening to if you're a fan.

Great show. I think season one was better than season two, but still great. Ted Danson is fantastic in this.

I agree - Season 1 was better than Season 2, but still a good show overall.  I'm looking forward to Season 3.

“We Crumb From A Land Down Under”  :lmao:

“No one is claustrophobic are they?” “Who would be afraid of Santa Claus? Ooooohhh... the Jewish.”

:D

This show just continues to deliver and surprise week after week.  Stellar episode

Trevor, wait!

So, they just got a 4th season renewal.

No clue where they'll go with it though.  They'll need to find a new place to mine I guess.

Loving this season almost as much as the prior two, the last episode in particular was great with the call backs to the demon's and Janet kicking ###.

Glad they got renewed although I thought someone posted in here it was planned out for 3 seasons only?

"I've been working out... A LOT!!!"

Ok, hate to be that guy but a question must be answered. We saw Michael hit the button to send everyone at the end. Who hit the button to send him?

Didn't realize this was back already until we checked our DVR last night. Solid first episode, plus now I don't have to wait too many days for the follow-up.

Loved the old lady "4th subject" and the reveal on what was going on with her. Seems likely there was a switcheroo on the train at the end but we will have to wait until next episode to find out.

and it turned out to be the shirtless demon.

:lmao:

There are probably 3 to 4 times an episode where I have to force myself to remember how we got to this point in the plot and what the purpose of the experiment is.

Rewatching from the beginning.  First scene,  Micheal is wearing a tie of a moth with fake eyes on its wings.

Everything  is not as it seems.

Wow.

Chidi finally got it.

At rhe end, when he finally woke up, I was yelling at the TV to "Kiss Her!"

But when Janet, with enough Janet emotion, gives him the note?

Just started rewatching again, should be easily finished before the series finale comes around. A lot of little details I missed, even with having already rewatched a few years ago after I knew the season 1 twist. For instance some of the demons we get to know better much later on are right there in episode one talking to Eleanor and Chidi at Tahani's party like Glenn who got atomized. There's also Michael showing some obvious distaste for Glenn butting into the speeches about people's favorite food even if only for the briefest moment on his face in the restaurant/sinkhole episode. Jason throwing a Molotov into Acid Cat's speed boat and yelling out "Bortles!" before they ever had aired any jokes about him being obsessed with the Jaguars.

Also listening to the podcasts, some of them are really insightful and really peel back the curtain. Actress playing Janet said she had to do the Janet "dying" when rebooting face first fall into the sand like 40 times total over the course of the show. :lmao:

I did not realize that this was back on now... I had a nice little 2-episode surprise waiting for me on my DVR last night.

P.S. GB Chainsaw Bear

My mind was blown today.

The guy that created this and was a big office writer is Mose
Hippling this a bit from last month. In addition to what Drunken Cowboy mentioned, he's also responsible for the old "Fire Joe Morgan" blog as KenTremendous, which is now his Twitter handle (he's a good follow there).

Started binge watching this show on netflix. In the middle of season 3. Such a good show. My 10 year old son loves it too.

Yep

The whole family loves it. Including our 5yo daughter.

My 11yo son wants to name our next dog Chidi. I'm good with it.

Spoils on tonight's episode

Pretty impressive.  Making the Good Place so perfect that it actually turns into the Bad Place.

Will be sad when all four walk through the final door but very curious as to what is behind that  door.

Speaking of Green Doors,  there was a porno in the 70's "Behind the Green Door ". The Good Place is where you can gave anything you want and it is behind a green door. 🤔

[/spoilers]
