you would have to think that in order to keep it somewhat balanced for the returning players.....the "get back in the game challenge" has to be a physical challenge that also ends in a puzzle of some sort....

or a war of attrition/will challenge where they are uncomfortable but can outlast everybody else if they just hang in there....I'm thinking it is going to be something like this that has them uncomfortable but not so uncomfortable that they couldn't stay in for like an hour or more......I could see them really milking out the get back in the game challenge....

I'm not sure about that.  In the preview for next week it looked like they had a battle royale challenge where an extinction member 'had a chance' to return.  It may not be a foregone conclusion that one of them returns (which is a good thing IMO)

That was how I took the preview as well... Everyone, excile and those left in one final challenge.. If someone from exile wins, they are back in.. Otherwise "no soup for you"..

I don't like her but I am kinda rooting for her to get back in just because that would be hilarious.  Voted out first, #####ing ever chance she gets to each player that shows up, really doesn't give a crap about anything and now she is back in the game.  It would be a huge upset and be interesting to see other's reactions and how she handles herself.

He's killing it. At the very least, one of the most heroic edits of all time. Really telling the story from his perspective.

He has been good but even that has been magnified by a really poor level of opposition.  Other than the obvious perks of surviving eye candy, this is the lamest bunch of people that I can remember this late in the game.

I'll blame it on poor casting and Joe carrying a group of boring individuals along further than they deserved.

Which is precisely what any player not from EoE should say when doing their final speech:

Gavin:  Devins, I don't know how you can say you outlasted or outplayed me.  I was never voted out.  You were.

Devins:  Well, Gavin, I wasn't fortunate enough to be on a tribe with Joe, who carried you to win after win and a majority position.  Yes, I was voted out, but i earned my way back by winning a challenge against a tough group of competitors who all wanted a chance to get back in the game.  I also survived tribal after tribal, without an ally, when everyone wanted me out of the game.

As expected, her letter to herself was full of piss and vinegar. That bitter woman hates everyone, including herself.

A new concept would be that the jury never goes to tribal council. They stay on an island, or, I guess Ponderosa, but the only time they go to tribal is in the final 3, or final 4. They won't see all the petty stuff play out. Tribal won't be a bunch of grandstanding by the players.

All-time great level performance from Rick Devens this season.  Hustle, smarts, winning challenges, good strategy, bluffing, educating the jury.  Just fantastic.  If he gets to the vote, he sweeps.

I think he's my favorite player of all time.  And I didn't even like him to start.  He cracks me up when he does his breaking news reports.

He's quickly rising on my list.  If he doesn't win - or even if he does - I'd bet he's cast on another season.

Devins = a likable Russell

If I was on Exile, I would try to convince everyone to form an Exile alliance: if one of us makes it back to the game, and to the final 3, we all vote for that person to win. They have the numbers so it's a lock. People like Reek, that got voted out early, have not had a chance to play the social game or make a case for winning, should they get back to the game at 5 and make the finals.

I thought this, too.  I feel like if the person coming back from Exile makes the final 3, they are a lock to win it all.  Or course, Devins playing so well may negate that thought, but under any other circumstance, it would seem that most of the jury would have a pact to vote for whoever made it back.

All the people on Exile get to see is at tribal....they don’t get to see the real “work” people on the island like Devens are doing....

granted he has had some epic tribals....

The lack of nutrition is destroying her complexion. She looks like an after-picture in a "don't do meth" campaign. If that's your thing, I've got no problem with that.

Neck down is great though.

Eating challenge would be awesome for the EoE’ers to get back in. Bring out some of those live slugs, balut, or cow brains and see who wants to stick around. Totally mental over physical.

I'm sure she'll look fantastic on the live finale. Right now she doesn't. I went too far with the meth comparison, but I still think she's been in steady decline from the neck up. Very strange to get so defensive over my opinion about a stranger.

Whole season ruined with this Crapfest final 3.. Such a joke that a guy that spent 27 days on edge and had Zero game play until the last TC has any chance to win this and the other two did nothing as well..

Wonder how Jeff would respond if the top vote getter was "NONE OF THE ABOVE!!"

I read that fan favorite gets $100k. So  Devens should at least win a nice chunk of change

Yeah, bad final 3. And Wentworth is still so annoying. Really, Kelly? You're OFFENDED because Chris asked Julie one question?

I'd vote Gavin from these choices.  After the producers prevented me from voting Devens anyway

Would be fitting that the worst season in recent memory is won by someone who was voted out early in the game

A pretty good sign the producers know this was an awful season, they are leaving about 15 minutes for interviews on the reunion

Edge of extinction wasn't a horrendous idea in theory but they should have reset after the first return (not giving the losers 2 chances)and not brought the last person back so late.

Kudos to Chris for swinging for the fences giving up the idol but I still think getting to sit out the gameplay for a month (albeit in terrible conditions) is a big advantage to some extent

Not much more Gavin could have done to win it, including like.....you know..... not getting voted out this season

i do like that they try new things.  I think this idea wasn't great.  Or at least people shouldn't come back that close to the end.  Maybe a tweak and have there be a game on EoE as well where there are competitions and people get voted out.  So if you get back in you really had to go through some #### other than just chillin on the island for 20 days and winning one comp.

The people who were IN the game and the people who respected the game voted Gavin.

A few aspects of EofE that make it not work so well IMHO:

1) We didn't get to see much of the Edge at all.  They made it sound so hard, but we didn't get to see why.  It wasn't like there was that much more food at the main camp.  It's a lot easier to be cool with other people when you remove the threat of them playing you, or having to go through the stress of tribal councils and the constant reminders of where you rank compared to others, so of course they all get along.

2) This one speaks more directly to Dinsy's post.  The major knock against Chris was that he was kicked out and didn't have to play the main game for so long before re-entering so late.  But picture yourself as one of the other people on EofE, constantly imagining getting yourself back in the game and getting to the final 3 and hoping that your jury wouldn't hold your stay on EofE against you.  I imagine then you would feel pretty guilty holding it against the player that actually did get there.  Add that in with the easy social bonding you've been able to share and with so many of those people on the jury, it's no wonder Chris got so many of those votes.  They should have either made the EofE part shorter or not allowed so many early exits on the jury.

3) People complain about a "winner's edit" but it's much better than a "winner not even really on the show for half the season."

Season was fine, Rick will be back for an all star season hopefully. Chris' move took balls, I'd have a tough time voting for someone that had been out of the game for so long though. Gavin would have received my vote. Was a pretty weak final three.

Wendy might be the winner of the "cleaned up the best at finale" award . Victoria still my favorite though :ginger:

Both Boston Rob and Sandra looked old and fat. Not sure they can teach anybody anything though.

Sandra:  "Vote against anyone that the most people are voting for."

Boston Rob:  "Just keep coming back until they give you a bunch of players who are starstruck by you."

Did I miss something ...why did Devens and Chris just be given a combo idol in their bags after Chris came back?

I liked the season.  It wasn’t perfect and Chris out of the game so long sucked, but it was a great move at the end. Devens was great but there is no way you can give him the idol near the end. Everyone else was a goat. I did feel bad for him.  Him planting 2 fake idols was awesome.
