The Official Little Richard Appreciation Thread: Still alive the last time I checked (1 Viewer)

Rockin' With The King - with Canned Heat 1971

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OIobMdTGGU

In 1971 Little Richard corroborated with Canned Heat for a single after they toured together for a couple shows circa new year's eve. Anyway, the end result is entitled Rockin' With The King and is considered by Little Richard aficionados as the best thing he had done up to that time since the late 50s. For a laugh, wait to hear Little Richard to tell himself to shut up a little after 2:20 mark. Sax on this incredible live track, recorded over two days spliced together, is the great, Lee Allen.

Not officially credited here, but Little Richard does the vocals on this Fats Domino song from 3-4 years earlier.

Little Richard was supposedly retired from popular music, but still under contract to Specialty for anything but Gospel releases. So he when wanted to do a rock and roll song, he had to do it without any billing.

Also from his Reprise LP but probably the most reminiscent of the 50's Specialty sound. Lee Allen on sax.

Interestingly co-written by Esquerita, who was Capitol Records answer to Little Richard in the late 50s and recorded some really cool stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILmYZK8JoCQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GugkuqYcAEA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyTLpdSiiv4  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfBKF2X-MjU Turns out he was personal friends with Little Richard knowing him before either had recorded.
