Dynasty: Carlos Henderson, WR, LA Tech (1 Viewer)

Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline hears that the Carolina Panthers are strongly considering selecting a speed receiver on Day 2.

Carlos Henderson would be an interesting option here. Pauline believes as much, slotting the 5-foot-11, 199-pounder to the Panthers in the second round of each of his last two mock drafts. Wrote the analyst, "I feel he’d be perfect in the Ted Ginn Jr. role." Adding fuel to this speculative fire, Carolina has both met with Henderson and put him through a private workout. Rotoworld's Josh Norris ranks Henderson as the No. 3 wideout in this draft class. Apr 6 - 8:45 PM

Pro Football Focus compared Louisiana Tech WR Carlos Henderson to Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin.

"While Henderson (5-foot-11, 199 pounds) is bigger than Austin (5-foot-9, 174 pounds), they are similar as players who are best with the ball in their hands while lacking polish as pure receivers," notes the PFF analysis team. They go on to explain that "like Austin, he’s limited as an outside receiving threat due to his small catch radius is ineffectiveness in contested situations." He has met with the 49ers, Cardinals and Saints of late. Following a hot Combine, Henderson has upward mobility toward early on Day 2. Mar 25 - 2:07 PM

An NFC South regional scout believes Louisiana Tech WR Carlos Henderson should have stayed in school.

"He plays with good route strength and speed and he has good hands," the scout said. "His return value should lock him into a team. I think he will come in as a fourth receiver, but he could have upped his draft value with another year at school." We disagree. Henderson (5-foot-11, 199 pounds) combines speed and power on the outside to routinely wrack up yards after the catch. Henderson ranks as Josh Norris' No. 3 receiver in the class. As for NFL Media's Lance Zierlein, he compares Henderson to Quinton Patton. "Henderson excels on catch-and-go throws and nine routes. He lacks the route running to come in and be an effective threat right away, but his kick return ability could get him early work," Zierlein wrote. We disagree with the route running bit. We see a receiver who was able to win along most every branch of the route tree in college.

Louisiana Tech WR Carlos Henderson's workout numbers "wowed scouts," according to ESPN's Mel Kiper.

At 5-foot-11, 199 pounds, Henderson ran 4.46 second forty-yard dash at the NFL Combine. He showed explosion with a 10-foot-11 broad jump and a 36-inch vertical. "He isn't a true No. 1 outside receiver, but he can help a team from the slot or outside and in the return game," Kiper wrote. "Henderson's versatility will help him, and his workout numbers wowed scouts, but he's still a boom-or-bust guy -- he had only one season of high-end play. Henderson is a solid Day 2 pick." Henderson checks in as Kiper's No. 9 WR. We're far higher on him. Rotoworld's Josh Norris ranks Henderson as the No. 3 WR in the class.

Broncos selected Louisiana Tech WR Carlos Henderson with the No. 82 overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft.
Henderson (5’11/199) turned pro following a breakout redshirt junior campaign, tallying an 82-1,535-19 (18.7 YPR) receiving line after failing to hit 800 yards in each of his first two seasons. Henderson returned kicks throughout college, scoring three times and finishing No. 2 in the nation with a 32.2-yard average in 2016. The top post-catch receiver in this year’s draft, PFF College charted Henderson with a nation-best 48 missed tackles forced last season. C-USA scouts told Draft Analyst’s Tony Pauline that Henderson was "impossible to cover." With 4.46 jets and an explosive broad jump (10’11"), Henderson profiles as a dynamic slot-flanker with field-flipping special teams value.

2017 NFL Draft Live Analysis: Fantasy Football Values

Excerpt:

Denver Broncos: Carlos Henderson, WR – Many shy away from liking Henderson due to his size (5’11”, 199) but how did that work out for Odell Beckham? NO! He’s not OBJ, but Henderson has great speed, can shake physical corners and even break tackles despite his size. Henderson has a nice set of moves before and after the catch. While he needs some route running work, Henderson can eventually replace Emmanuel Sanders. In redraft, he’s off the board, but you need to know the name for dynasty.

Broncos WR Carlos Henderson requires thumb surgery.

The team won't have a timetable for Henderson's return until after his Sunday operation. The No. 82 overall pick of the draft, Henderson caught one pass for seven yards in his preseason debut on Thursday. Having a quiet camp, Henderson is theoretically in the lead for No. 3 duties behind Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders.

Broncos WR Carlos Henderson was arrested for driving under the influence of marijuana in West Monroe, Louisiana on Sunday afternoon.

He was pulled over for driving 84 in a 60 MPH zone, and police noticed a "strong smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle" when they approached Henderson's SUV. Officers saw "thick green residue" in Henderson's mouth during their search, but Henderson denied eating the marijuana. The arrest puts Henderson at risk of a suspension. The 82nd pick in last April's draft, Henderson missed his rookie year with a torn thumb ligament. The Broncos can't count on him for a 2018 role.

Broncos coach Vance Joseph said the team is "counting on" Carlos Henderson making an impact in 2018.

A third-round pick last year, Henderson missed his entire rookie season with a torn ligament in his thumb. Joseph hopes Henderson and fellow redshirt rookie Jake Butt can help take pressure off Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders. "We saw a lot of where the safety and corner doubled D.T., the safety and corner double ‘E’ and left those (other) guys one-on-one," Joseph said. "We have to find a way to attack those kind of coverages with our tight ends, with our slot and with our back so we can get more one-on-ones outside." Henderson may not see enough targets to be a real fantasy factor, but he has the talent to be the third weapon the Broncos desperately need.

Here's another guy dynasty owners have stashed at the end of their bench and it may have been for nothing.

Edited:  wrong thread.  I thought this was DeAngelo Henderson RB.

Henderson is currently WR5 at best on this team right now, and that supposes that he is further up the pecking order than “Sunshine” Taylor.  Both rookies have impressed with not only their play so far, which has been ahead of the curve and in instances leaning towards spectacular, but also with their attitudes, work ethic, and mentality.  Sutton is already looking at being an outside guy in 3 wide sets as well as spelling both starters.

If both rookies keep progressing at their current rate, it’s not unreasonable that DEN parts ways with both DT and Sanders because of the size of their salaries.  That might get Henderson back into the mix for meaningul reps - likely out of the slot - if he can earn them.  But this year, barring at least 2 injuries, he’s not looking at anything but scraps.

Broncos WR Carlos Henderson will start training camp in exempt list as he’s dealing with family and personal situation. Agent Erik Burkhardt “We've spoken to Coach Joseph and the organization and they are fully aware of this and have been supportive.” #9sports

Speaking Monday, Broncos coach Vance Joseph said "it's on him" when discussing a potential return for AWOL WR Carlos Henderson.

Henderson's agent has said he's dealing with a "family and personal situation," but the team has maintained a tough love approach, suggesting they're not buying the reason Henderson is gone. Whenever Henderson finally returns, he's going to have a monumental task in regaining the coaching staff's trust and solidifying himself on the depth chart.
