2017 UDFA Signings (1 Viewer)

Austin Carr - WR - Patriots

Patriots signed Northwestern WR Austin Carr.

Carr (6’0/202) struggled for playing time at Northwestern before breaking out as a fifth-year senior, amassing an 84-1,196-12 (14.2 YPR) receiving line en route to Big Ten Receiver of the Year and third-team All-America honors. PFF College called Carr the best slot receiver in the nation in 2016, yet he was snubbed for a Combine invite. While it is concerning that Carr runs 4.62 and didn’t do much of anything until age 23 – when every defensive back he faced was younger than him – Carr has many traits that translate to slot success in the pros, including an impressive 6.70 three-cone time. From a profile standpoint, he reminds of ex-Colts WR Austin Collie

Names I'm at least mildly interested in:

Ricky Seals-Jones (WR - ARI):  Fitz old, Seals-Jones at one point was a big-time prospect.

Quincy Adeboyejo (WR - BAL):  Maybe some opportunities in BAL, had some big games at Ole Miss.

Ben Boulware (LB - CAR):  Will excel on special teams and there will be opportunities alongside Kuechly.

Kyle Sloter (QB - DEN):  Obviously there's a huge logjam at QB in Denver but this small school sleeper could surprise in camp.

Taysom Hill (QB - GBP):  He's not gonna be a QB.  Maybe he can convert to WR?

Colin Jeter (TE - IND):  Not sure why this guy wasn't among the "sleepers" in this TE class.  Maybe because there were a ton of "athletic freaks"?  Like this guy although he struggled due to crappy QB play for LSU.

Travin Dural (WR - NOS):  See above re: production.  This guy can play.  Opportunities here in New Orleans.

Pharaoh Brown (TE - OAK):  Freak!

Ishmael Zamora (WR - OAK):  Also a freak but off-field issues.

Corey Clement (RB - PHI):  Can't ignore the numbers but injuries and man he looks slow.

KD Cannon (WR - SFO):  Can't believe this guy didn't get drafted.  Great landing spot.

Cole Hikutini (TE - SFO):  Nice landing spot.  Interesting guy.

Darreus Rogers (WR - SEA):  I thought he looked better than JuJu at certain points.

Chargers so far:

  • TE Sean Culkin – Missouri
  • C Dillon Deboer – Florida Atlantic
  • CB Michael Davis – BYU
  • RB Austin Ekeler – Western State
  • LB Nigel Harris – South Florida
  • QB Eli Jenkins – Jacksonville State
  • K Younghoe Koo – Georgia Southern
  • LB Mike Moore – Kansas State
  • LB James Onwualu – Notre Dame
  • WR Andre Patton – Rutgers
  • WR Artavis Scott – Clemson
  • CB Brandon Stewart – Kansas
  • CB Brad Watson – Wake Forest
  • WR Dontre Wilson – Ohio State
  • T Mason Zandi – South Carolina
The Chargers have had a UDFA (from that draft year) make their roster for 19 consecutive years. CB Davis and LB Onwualu seem like the most likely to have a shot.

Earlier word out there had him going to the Colts, but now:

NEWS ARTICLES > CARDINALS TAKE FLYER ON WR KRISHAWN HOGA...
PUBLISHED SAT APR 29 7:06:00 P.M. PT 2017
(Rotoworld) Cardinals signed Marian WR Krishawn Hogan.
Analysis: Hogan (63/222) wound up in the NAIA ranks after catching only 20 passes as a 5-foot-9, 175-pound backup receiver in high school. At barely-known Marian College, Hogan exploded physically and on the field, setting school records in receptions (263), yards (4,395), and touchdowns (42) as a three-year starter. Hogan confirmed his NFL-level athleticism at the Combine, registering 79th-percentile SPARQ results with 4.56 speed, a springy 10-foot-4 broad jump, and a 6.74 three-cone time, sensational at Hogans size. Hogan faces a colossal jump in competition, but from a size-athletic standpoint the big leagues contain his peers.

Saints:

Travin Dural WR

Devaroe Lawrence, DT

Andrew Lauderdale, T

Sea Tautu, LB

Cameron Lee, G

Arthur Maulet, CB

You're right sorry, I am happy about that as a solid opportunity for him.
Definitely.  I liked both Dupre and Dural.  Wildly underrated because of LSU's inability to find consistency at QB.  By no means am I saying they're OBJ/Landry but there are some similarities in both sets.  I especially like Dupre.  I think that if he can stick on that roster that he'll have just as much of a chance as all of those other Packer WRs that have been hanging around (Janis, Davis, etc.)

Zamora has no competition on the Raiders. If he has his head on straight and they give hima  fair shot, which I expect them to do, He easily is #4 and there's no reason he can't beat out drop king Seth Roberts.

As long as he steers clear of dog ownership he should be cool.
