Lets get this process started.  I have created the new league for 2017-18.  Everyone who was in the league last year should have access now.

I went ahead and updated scoring to include:

1. Assists for PK Goal: 3 points
2. Penalty Kick Misses: -1 point
3. Penalty Kick Saves: 1 point

Cost will remain $35 - @Christo has volunteered to remain as treasurer

1st: 50%
2nd: 25%
3rd: 15%
4th: 10%
5th+: Pat on the back

We have two things we need to decide early:  first, who is in?  Second, draft dates.   We have at least 1 conflict that will run from last week in July through the first week in August, with the season starting on August 12.  

A few suggestions include to simply start early, and finish before July 26 - this gets everything done, but creates lots of pitfalls in terms of late transfer action.  Or, start early, and have a split draft, where we complete rounds 1-11(?) in July, and then rounds 12-17 in the week before the season starts in August.  This also creates a potential windfall situation, and we would have to decide how to split the draft - i.e. should the person holding the 1st draft slot get the first pick in both drafts, or should we end the first draft after an odd round, so that the draft order is reversed in the 2nd portion of the draft?  I think this also has an unintended effect on how we conduct waivers - going in reverse order of the draft - may need to re-visit that.  A final option would be to hold the draft in August - between the 7th and 11th - might be difficult to get everyone in the same place for a live draft.

I'm in.  I'm also unavailable for last 2 weeks of July but otherwise good.  I don't care how we draft.

 
The draft for this thing obviously has a lot of moving parts. I'm ok with pretty much whatever. Really no perfectly fair way of doing it. The late summer transfers are mostly a crapshoot

In.  Hopefully my first rounder will play more than half the season this year (although in all fairness, Harry Kane was pretty awesome while actually playing).

EPL - fantasy league - we do a draft in thread - i.e. not the standard EPL fantasy game.  We use Fantrax to score - pretty standard stuff 4-6 points per goal (depending on position) 3 points assist, .333/save, 0.1 for interceptions and tackles, -.5 for yellow, -3 for red, Defenders -.25 for goal conceded (GK -.5), etc.

guess I may need to get to know some other players so I dont end up with an all United team...

I always enjoy watching this draft and will even more so if ManU buys Ronaldo this summer. I'll leave the Gator jokes to the rest of you.

For all you bastards on the fence: My unsolicited advice, get in now. This is a league where openings don't come free. This league smokes magic gridiron football like a stuffed Titan. I can tell you right now, the spots are running out, and you're gonna end up on a waiting list.

The FPL official site supposedly will have a draft league game this year.  No further information about rules but if they can handle autosubs, it may be worth a look.

 
I am back from a little vacation and ready to start getting this organized.

This is the FPL info that @Eephus mentioned above.

It looks like it will be the same as the regular FPL game in terms of scoring - the only exception is no captains in the draft game.

Upside - probably allow automatic substitution - which helps the west coast guys.

Downside - fixed roster of 2 GK, 5 Def, 5 Mid, and 3 F, so not as much roster flexibility.  With 14+ teams - having 2 GKs is not optimal - but the spot could be used on the back up to your main keeper.  The smaller roster would keep teams from stockpiling players - but it creates an advantage for the most active owners in terms of roster churn.  Managing injuries will be more difficult.  I also assume that rosters will lock one hour before the first match of the week - which is a deal-killer for me - even with the auto-subs.  EPL simply is not as forthcoming about player injuries and availability as US-based sports.  I don't like having to guess :shrug:

Not interested in this at all. We finally got it right this last year, IMO.

BTW, if we can somehow set up a few hour block that works for all of us, I wouldn't mind a quick draft.  Might be hard, but lots of fantasy leagues manage it and I'd like to think we could if we tried.

Right now - this is the stumbling block.

First match is 8/11 - Arsenal v. Leicester 

So we have 1 week to get part of the draft done, and then 3 days to complete it from 8/8.  Or, we pick a date/time - 5ish hours I think to do the entire draft - between August 8th and 10th - with multiple time-zones - I think we are looking at maybe doing it in two shifts - maybe 8/8 9:PM ET to 11:PM ET, and then wrapping up at the same time the next night?
