He was so great in that movie, it's ridiculous. Took what would have been a good movie and made it a classic (and the Farrelly Bros. best, IMO)Yup, Kingpin.
Big Ern.
Come on... Kingpin....Other - Kingpin.
Although it's probably Stripes.
Kingpin was awesome but Caddyshack kind of defined the whole 1980's era.Other - Kingpin.
Although it's probably Stripes.
That's why I said it's probably Stripes. He carried that movie.Come on... Kingpin....
He was great in it, but its no signature
You're talking about a movie that is 24 years old!Kingpin was awesome but Caddyshack kind of defined the whole 1980's era.
Votes for GroundHog's Day are based on recency bias. Wow.. typing that gave me a strange feeling of deja vu...
I thought he was at best the third funniest character in Caddyshack. It might be my favorite movie on the list, but Stripes was more of a showcase/signature role for him.Kingpin was awesome but Caddyshack kind of defined the whole 1980's era.

Little known fact that Bill could have had the lead role in Caddyshack. He sort of got Munsoned in the deal...I thought he was at best the third funniest character in Caddyshack. It might be my favorite movie on the list, but Stripes was more of a showcase/signature role for him.
Agree about Caddyshack, but was his role large enough? I'd go Stripes, Groundhog's Day or Ghostbusters.Kingpin was awesome but Caddyshack kind of defined the whole 1980's era.

This.Groundhog Day is his best movie, but I'd go Ghostbusters for his signature role.
I've never seen it, or heard about it. I'll have to check it out soon...Although, a soft spot for the only film he directed: Quick Change. That might be quintessential Murray, directing himself in one of the most under appreciated comedies ever.
I thought they changed it bc he and chase hated each other.Little known fact that Bill could have had the lead role in Caddyshack. He sort of got Munsoned in the deal...
Without Bill, the putt doesn't drop, completely changing the entire film.Caddyshack isn't that good. It's true.
Also, he doesn't interact with anyone in it. He's a B story that can be lifted out of the film entirely.
Great call with Quick Change. The crying on the inside kind.Caddyshack isn't that good. It's true.

Agree Future Champs above; Groundhog Day is a great film, but, he's All Murray in Ghostbusters.
Although, a soft spot for the only film he directed: Quick Change. That might be quintessential Murray, directing himself in one of the most under appreciated comedies ever.
I've never seen this... is it worth watching?Really good in Life Aquatic too.
It's a Wes Anderson movie so "no".I've never seen this... is it worth watching?
Yes, but as O2O insinuated, if you don't like Wes Anderson, Bill Murray may not be able to save it for you.I've never seen this... is it worth watching?
I agree with this, and in a way I think the comparatively short nature of the role sets it apart from the rest. He basically steals (makes) a classic film in what, 10 minutes of screen time? And he improvised the whole thing? Yeah.Caddyshack. Not even open for debate.
You were the first and only. I thought this would get more love...It's Meatballs. When you ask who are the other actors in that film...blank.
I don't think anyone could touch that comedic performance.I agree with this, and in a way I think the comparatively short nature of the role sets it apart from the rest. He basically steals (makes) a classic film in what, 10 minutes of screen time? And he improvised the whole thing? Yeah.
He carries the whole film brilliantly by himself. You were the first and only. I thought this would get more love...
Chris Makepeace, Dustin Hoffman's kid, the blonde girl that was in the porn version of Alice in Wonderland...It's Meatballs. When you ask who are the other actors in that film...blank.
Its his first mainstream role. I liked it back in the day. Currently Its not a classic. He carries the whole film brilliantly by himself.
Spies Like Us
He and Ty have a tender moment discussing hybridization of Kentucky Bluegrass, Featherbed Bent, and Northern California Sensemilia.Caddyshack isn't that good. It's true.
Also, he doesn't interact with anyone in it.
