Jaron Brown - wr, sea (1 Viewer)

(RotoWire) Brown (knee) wasn't present on the Cardinals' injury report Thursday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.

Analysis: Brown had a scare during the fourth quarter of Sunday's win at Indianapolis when Colts safety Matthias Farley landed on his left knee, which experienced an ACL tear last October. In the midst of the incident, Brown racked up four catches for 73 yards on a team-best 11 targets, while J.J. Nelson broke out for a 5/120/1 line. If Larry Fitzgerald continues to the attract most of the attention directed at Cardinals wide receivers and John Brown (quadriceps) remains a regular DNP, (Jaron) Brown is a great candidate to receive frequent looks from Carson Palmer.

Six Things We Learned From Offensive Coordinator Brian Schottenheimer at Seahawks 2019 OTAs

Excerpt:

Jaron Brown is having an “unbelievable” offseason and other thoughts on the receivers.

With Baldwin gone, the Seahawks will need multiple players to step up to fill the void in 2019. Lockett, who is coming off a phenomenal 2018 season, is the presumed top receiver, but beyond that the competition is wide open for playing time and for roster spots. Baldwin will undoubtedly be missed, but Schottenheimer is excited about what he has seen so far from Seattle’s receivers, and in particular from Jaron Brown, a player he and Carroll have both noted was underutilized in 2018.

“A lot of talent, a lot of size—the size factor is definitely different than what we’ve been around here,” Schottenheimer said. “… There’s been a lot of guys in that room who’ve stepped up. Keenan Reynolds is having a great camp. Jaron Brown, he’s not a young guy, but wow, talking about just an unbelievable camp, I mean, really stepping up. Those guys are growing, they’re developing. It’ll be fun to watch them.

“David Moore coming off of a good year last year—is exciting. Jaron Brown, I just mentioned him earlier, but he did so much of the dirty work for us last year that you kind of forgot that he’s a really established receiver and he’s looked dynamic out here. Of course, Tyler, monster year last year, he’s going to lead the charge.”

Seahawks WR Jaron Brown reported to minicamp weighing 220 pounds.

An offseason winner on glowing reviews alone, Brown believes the added muscle will help him become a better blocker (and thus keep him on the field more). The six-year vet has reportedly looked "dynamic" and "unbelievable" at voluntary workouts as he's played with Seattle's first-string throughout OTAs. It's a longshot Brown beats out rookie D.K. Metcalf for a true starting role, but his competition with David Moore for use in three-wide sets will be worth monitoring in camp.

Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me twice, shame on me.  Brown has had 2 different teams over 6 years begging him to step up and become an integral part of their passing game.  He looks great in TC and in preseason, and then routinely fades to a bit player when it counts year after year.

Good days for Jaron Brown, David Moore and Rashaad Penny. Schottenheimer said it was the best day of practice he’s seen from Penny.

Brady Henderson @BradyHenderson

Brian Schottenheimer had more rave reviews of Jaron Brown. Called him a starting receiver in the NFL and said there’s no one he trusts more. Another strong indication that Brown will factor more into the offense than last season when he was their fourth receiver.

Joe Fann @Joe_Fann

Brian Schottenheimer just said that Jaron Brown was underutilized last season. Could be a veteran breakout candidate for the #Seahawks in 2019. Brown has had two fantastic practices to open camp.

According to Joe Fann of NBC Sports Northwest, Jaron Brown will likely begin the year as the Seahawks' No. 2 receiver.

David Moore's shoulder injury (which could ultimately land him on IR) should elevate Moore to No. 2 status in a depleted Seahawks pass-catching corps. Even if DK Metcalf (knee surgery) makes it back for Week 1, Fann expects him to be limited early on after missing so much time. Seattle's offense figures to lean heavily on the run this year, but Brown could still offer some late-round sleeper appeal in fantasy. The injuries to Moore and Metcalf should allow undrafted rookie Jazz Ferguson to crack the Seahawks' 53-man roster.

Seahawks re-signed WR Jaron Brown.

The Seahawks surprisingly released Brown Saturday after he was expected to work alongside Tyler Lockett in 2-WR sets. His presence complicates the potential for DK Metcalf (knee) to have a large Week 1 role. It's tough to pin down just how many snaps any of the Seahawks wide receivers and tight ends will have other than Lockett, who is locked in as Russell Wilson's No. 1 pass-game option. Regardless, the entire offense is set up well in Week 1 against a Bengals defense that ranked 28th in overall DVOA last season (Football Outsiders).
