Elijah Penny - Championship Week Flex Superhero? (1 Viewer)

Didn't see a dedicated thread.  Kerwynn didn't practice again today.  AZ run offense has been a lot better past 3-4 weeks and Penny seems built to handle the load, 6' 4" and 234.

Top it off they play the lowly Giants Run Defense......  Call me crazy but I may be starting this guy in flex.

Kudos to Hot Sauce Guy for calling Penny out in the "Starting Mike Gillislee over" thread.

leaning that way (over Mike Davis) in a 14 team league 'chip dance.

he will see 20 touches, and owns the gl work.  cant say that for Davis, atm.

I'm in a bind at RB, and if Kerwynn doesn't play I plan to go Penny. This would be over Derrick Henry, Bilal and Gio, and Gillislee.  Yeah, I said I was in a bind.

OK, kudos to OTB_lifer for the OG callout.  Who's rolling the dice?
I called him out in the RB lotto thread back in September....

Just kidding. Thought I'd poke fun at the "i said it first" crowd. I think Penny is a nice play if you're in need. All depends on who you else you have...

On the radio earlier this week, Arians called out Penny as a guy who made the most of his opportunity and who played well last week.

Chances are good that he sees a lot of work, but AZ has not scored a TD in two straight games. But, Stanton is starting this week - not sure if that’s good or bad

Hmmmm..... I could probably use a guy like that in at least three leagues this week.

In one I have Hyde, McCoy, and Collins.  Hyde has become an afterthought with Jimmy under center.  Then there's McCoy, who last I checked was questionable.

In another, I'm debating between Crowell and Powell for my RB2.  He might be a better option than either.

Lastly, in a league where I only need one RB (playing for 3rd this week, lost AB last week), I have Gore, Ekeler, Powell, Cohen, and K. Williams.  Leaning towards Gore, simply because he's a safe 7-9 point floor guy (PPR).  But, against BAL, that doesn't exactly excite me.

Sooo..... Short answer is Hyde, Crowell, and Gore.  Maybe.

Erryone always be stealin my kudos. Y’all cold blooded.

Brad Evans from Yahoo has been marketing him on Twitter and had this write up:

Elijhaa Penny, Ari, RB (1 percent started, $12 in Yahoo DFS)
Matchup: vs. NYG (Over/Under: 39.5)

When it comes to your title game, a Penny saved may indeed be a Penny earned. With Adrian Peterson shelved and Kerwynn Williams a possible Week 16 casualty due to a quad injury, the power rusher, whose brother Rashaad topped 2,000 yards at San Diego St. this season and is a legit fantasy prospect to monitor long-term, could soon land a featured role. A throwback rusher reminiscent of T.J. Duckett, the 6-foot-1, 244-pound steel fortress is a load with surprising jukes and strong YAC abilities. Last week against Washington he amassed 10 carries for 45 yards, evading three defenders while gaining 19 yards after initial contact. If gifted primary RB duties, the wrecking ball could levy a path of destruction. His opponent, New York, is horrendous in every facet defensively, especially stuffing the run. Over their past seven games, the Giants have given up the fourth-most fantasy points, 4.48 yards per carry, 170.1 total yards per game and seven touchdowns to RBs. Arizona, which stunningly ranks No. 10 in run-blocking efficiency according to Player Profiler, is sure to manhandle the visitors up front. Again, if Penny nets the start, it’s entirely foreseeable the short-yardage specialist compiles an RB2-level line. Carlos Hyde (vs. Jax), Marshawn Lynch (at Phi) and Jamaal Williams (vs. Min) backers concerned about matchup should heavily debate the upstart. Don’t fear the unknown.

Fearless Forecast (sans Williams): 18 carries, 69 rushing yards, 2 receptions, 8 receiving yards, 1 touchdown, 14.7 fantasy points

Picked him up in two leagues, just in case Williams is out.  I would be starting him over Crowell and Gore, essentially.  Might consider him over Hyde in a third, but need to think about that one a bit.

Late in the year, loads like that have to be hard to stop if he's one of the few guys with fresh legs.

Don’t mean to pee on Cheerios (as I was also hoping to use Penny) but it just got murkier:

(1 hr ago) Williams (quadriceps) appears to be practicing Friday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.

With Williams absent from the prior two practices, it appeared the Cardinals might need to lean on Elijhaa Penny as their lead runner for Sunday's game against the Giants. Williams' return to practice Friday at least gives him a shot to play, though it's still quite possible he's no better than a game-time decision. Another update will be available Friday afternoon when the Cardinals release their final injury report

we’ll know more later today, but KWill as a possible GTD in a late game, that makes Penny a dicey play.

fwiw... (Between Mixon and Kerwynn for me... leaning Mixon)

NEWS ARTICLES > KERWYNN WILLIAMS EXPECTED TO PLAY WEEK 16

PUBLISHED SUN DEC 24 5:42:44 A.M. ET 2017

(fantasypros) ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting Arizona Cardinals RB Kerwynn Williams (quad) is expected to play Week 16.

Analysis: Although he didn't practice all week, Williams is expected to play in Sunday's matchup against the Giants. If he's active, Willaims should be viewed an opportunity-dependent Flex option with upside in standard scoring formats only -- due to his invisibility in the passing game -- in Week 16.
