Well you have some pretty screwed up values if I may say so. American presidents contorting the economy for personal profit is fairly high crime/misdemeanor stuff.

You may say so.  This is America.  Freedom of speech and what not

They were talking about the hypothetical if Trump were to say all this bizarre stuff on purpose to manipulate the markets to make money I believe. He'd be going to prison for that.

Saints commented on my values, and added "if you don't mind me saying so"

My response was to tell him that this is perfectly fine.  He can insult me as often as he likes, this is America.

Thanks for clarifying. It reads like you are okay with Trump manipulating the market for personal gain because he has freedom of speech.

Honestly, I think it's the alternative. But he may have some smart people folowing him around and leaking what he's about to say to others.

For a percentage, obviously

Gotcha. It read differently to me.

You think he's manipulating the markets to make money but you don't think he should be impeached for that? Can you unpack that?

I'd like to return to this subject of suspecting the president of manipulating the stock market for personal profit but not finding that to be an impeachable offense. Perhaps Supermike could discuss his reasoning a little for those of us who don't understand.

I think the focus should be on the election.  He will not be removed from office via impeachment.  So i am not willing to waste energy on it.

If you think he’s doing this you should 100 be for impeaching him. What’s the point if that isn’t impeachable?

Lets get back to this part.

You believe Trump is manipulating the market for personal gain but don't believe he should be impeached?

ETA: Nevermind. Asked and answered.

Of course. Well, actually, one would assume someone with a decent sense of acumen about business and finance (and no morals) would do that, so it's really a coin flip.

Seriously. You guys are cute sometimes.  Like super adorable and cute...but I really think you need to stop letting your emotions drive you on these things.  I get it, I FEEL it with you..In your  little heart of hearts you want to impech him, you want to SAY "You're gone big guy!!"

But if you take your emotions out, and just TRY to look at it differently, you would see that impeachment is impossible.  IMPOSSIBLE.  Before 2020 the man is not leaving office via impeachment.

Now, try to focus on the election..please....It really bugs me that you guys are all emotion, and lack any real critical thinking.    This is why you lose over and over and over again.

Ugh..Ok I'm done ranting.

Only a prelude to his tweet ordering that American restaurants no longer serve chow mein, egg rolls or other Chinese food.

So he shouldn't be impeached because he probably wouldn't be convicted. I guess that makes sense, heck even some Dems have said that. So let's move on to another question -- if Don is committing the impeachable offense of manipulating the stock market for personal profit, will you (Supermike) overlook that and vote for him anyway next November?

Hell no.  And that's a MUCH better question.

The key issue here is who  he running against. Anyway you look at it you need this vital info. No way around it

Yes and no.  Personally, I will not vote for Trump, regardless of who is running.  That does not mean I will vote for the democratic primary winner either, cause quite frankly every candidate on that side is gross to me.  May have to just go with a no vote on the President.

The Dow is down 573 points perhaps on the news that Representative Seth Moulton, whoever that may be, has dropped out of the 2020 Presidential Race!

How?   In the scenario mentioned...Trump is guilty if manipulating the market for personal gain.

How can anyone justify voting for him in that scenario vs anyone else currently running?

If it were proven he is tweeting his usual brand of craziness on the days before he shorted the market he would be impeached in a heartbeat. There would be no question.

Crazy you think otherwise.

Seems Trump is going to get yet another Supreme Court pick.  This is the main reason I voted for him. He can fail at everything else but IMO his picks have been solid.

In no way am I rooting for RGG demise just stating the obvious.

First off it's not obvious at all. But if RBG is unable to continue at some point before the election, shouldn't Mitch McConnell refuse to allow another appointment until after the election? I thought that was his new doctrine.

Just like Obama’s promise to keep money out of politics until he realized he could generate more money and turned his back on his pledge. That kind of doctrin?

"I think it should be legal for the President to manipulate the stock market to the detriment of anyone not privy to his insider trading" has got to be the ultimate statement of the nihilist populist class.

I think it's the  whole King of Israel/second coming  part that's throwing everyone off. No one is sure what the messiah is allowed to get away with yet.

If the blues can't get out the vote with an "ANYBODY BUT TRUMP" message, then we kinda deserve to lose. Because that should really be enough.

What, that we're in a simulation that's totally run amok and the programmers are going to pull the plug soon because is turned to garbage?

I'm sure people who want to will find some way to equate, like South Park did with their "turd versus #####" references for the 2016 election.

Yeah, he's full on lost it all.

This is just nuts. He's stating that the market wanted Seth Moulton to be president so much that the Dow was willing to drop 3% in protest.

At this point, the lulz are gone. It's just bizarre.
