CNN website is an anti-Trump hatefest (1 Viewer)

...Fire and fury is an admitted fraud by the author. He trolled the MSM into thinking they had a gotcha, only to embarrass them when invited on their shows.

####holes was never proven to be true. And even if it was said, it was in private. About countries that literally #### in holes.

The government shutdown was clearly the fault of crying Chuck. Every poll conducted blamed the Dems. Which is accurate, they held the budget hostage to immigration issues.

Trump never "fired" Mueller. He allegedly "considered" it.

The Nunes memo exposed the Obama administration for illegaly spying on political opponents during a presidential election and afterwards.

Nobody cares about Rob Porter. That is a fabricated story to distract from the fact that a dozen Obama DOJ and FBI officials have been fired or resigned in disgrace.
- My point wasn't the veracity of those reports by CNN or others or that Trump is a Bad Man. My point was that all those stories were generated by the Trump White House.

Trump's administration let Wolff in the door for almost a year. We can argue about what he said is true or not (and tbh who knows with some of it) but why the hell was he there in the first place?

And Trump said either that or a variation of it. And look at your own comment, which is typical, because in the same line it's stated Trump didn't say it you approve of the point he supposedly was never making.

As for the Mueller story, fine, but again at a minimum even using Trump's version he broached the subject with McGahn. Trump did that.

And again you may like the Nunes memo, but please try and tell me the WH didn't coordinate it.

And as for Porter, sorry but you, me and anyone with or without government experience would know that bringing someone with a denied security clearance and that kind of history that close to the president would eventually blow up in their face, especially Kelly's.

- I think you really need to think about my point about Wolff especially because it highlights what I'm saying as to the other stories, because it has to do not with Trump and whether what he is doing is good or bad but with how the White House is run. My point was just that even if you view things from the Trump POV his WH created every one of these stories, when they didn't have to.

You say you will respect IG Horowitz. I look forward to you keeping your word.
As for this I think there's a chance it will be like the Comey recommendation. It won't be as big or have the same effect, but likely there are going to be some things that Trump people like and hate and that Trump critics like and hate. And people will just have to deal.

As a former Republican who only watched Fox News when Trump came on the political scene it became so obvious that he was a lying narcissist, a racist bigot, and Fox began to use biased irrational logic to make excuses for Trump I had to leave Fox to save my sanity. Needed to find a place that exposed his faults so CNN works for me. Are they over the top at times yes but I turn them off until I get disgusted by a yet another irrational facebook post by a Trump supporter and get my fix by turning again to CNN although have been watching more MSNBC of late.
At least you’re getting balanced news now.

CNN, MSNBC, FOX News are not news organizations.  They are entertainment shows that focus on politics.  CNN hasn't been a strict news organization since the inception of crossfire.  Now that model has transformed into all programming on the network.  Only difference is that instead of one liberal and one conservative it's now 17 democratic operatives and one republican.  It used to be gang up time on Jeffery Lord. No idea who the token Republican is now.  I find it hard to believe that anyone takes them seriously.  But I guess people take Hannity seriously, so what do I know.

I used to visit the FoxNews website on a fairly regular basis, hoping to get a conservative angle on the day's news stories. But after the election, I started to notice that FoxNews would regularly ignore stories that every other outlet would cover. Instead, I'd see headlines about Hillary or Benghazi or UraniumOne -- and the headlines would be reminiscent of clickbait ("New revelations in Benghazi scandal!" -- then you find out that the "revelation" is just a regurgitated opinion of whoever was scheduled to be on Hannity that night). They've really given up on any pretense of being a news outlet, and have instead fashioned themselves as a personal cheerleader and therapist for the President.

Looking at Fox's front page right now, here's what they have:

- an ad for their Bill Clinton "documentary"

- a separate headline about Monica Lewinski

- "Trump slams 'Fake News Media'" (complete with staged photo of Trump pretending to work really hard)

- "White House did not deny release of Democrat memo"

- "Former Obama campaign manager says pollsters should be shot" (gonna guess he wasn't being serious)

- "Patriot Prayer rally disrupted by left-wing counter-protesters"

- "DREAMer thanks Trump, rips Pelosi & Schumer"

- "Tea Party still has power"

- "Outback server fired for slamming church"

- "Nigel Farage: Instead Of Russian Collusion, Press Should Look Where George Soros' Billions Are Going"

- "Robert DeNiro slams Trump"

- "Police shoot man who attacked churchgoers"

- "Fast food workers set to protest for $15 minimum wage"

- opinion piece on the importance of marriage

- another opinion piece about how to save your marriage (haven't read it but I'm going to guess that "God" and "one man, one woman" play prominent roles)

- opinion piece on Christians with long hair (spoiler alert: there's nothing wrong with it! So don't call the police on that shaggy haired kid in your church parking lot)

- opinion piece on the dangers of technology

- opinion piece on the importance of having a good relationship with China

- "Democrats ought to worry about midterms"

- several attacks on other media outlets (CNN, NBC, WaPo) for their Olympics coverage

The latest incarnation of their website seems to be specifically designed to be a bromide for scared old people.

Not true
You'll get nothing but the Trump side from Hannity. I recommend you Fox watchers record S Smith and watch it in the evenings if you want a little balance.

Main story on CNN is all about heath care and the concerns over a director from Aetna admitting he never looked at medical records when denying people coverage.!

Main story on Fox is how CNN, NBC, etc. have been too flattering of KJU's sister.

Should we be concerned that our liberal media is fawning over KJU's sister and her cheerleader squad?

Let's try this a different way: "Eva Braun steals the show at the Olympics".

Yes, it was a bad look by everyone that put out pro positive articles of Kim Yo. Not sure it needs to be the first 7 links on the site but it is something.

As a CNN watcher and Truml hater, I have to admit it gets kind of annoying sometimes.  A little overkill.

..but here's the thing, in a world of MSNBC and FoxNews, CNN was a "news" channel that I actually felt was fair and balanced.  It is not bat feces crazy like MSNBC or Fox, but it has definitely taken on a anti-GOP personality.  Maybe it's brought on by the current POTUS stepping on every freaking rake in the hardware store, but it has gone from mild dissent to what appears to be an anti-GOP (or maybe it is just an anti-Trump, which is hard to distinguish) agenda.  One America News seems to be veering in the same direction as Fox.  Whatever happened to a real news channel and reporting as opposed to editorializing?

For-profit companies running the news delivery and catering it to higher viewership.  I remember when "Breaking News" actually meant something.

This is it. Trump and his administration had dozens of "incidents", in a year,  all of which would have been bigger stories than anything since Iran Contra.

They are as bad as Fox- always have been.

Also I think networks have just realized that people really hate Trump so anti-Trump coverage pulls in ratings, hits, likes, etc. In the end these are corporations being ran for a profit.

OAN's lead story is that Page and Stroszek hate Pro Lifers. The story is maybe 4 sentences and contains one incomplete quote that only says "I truly hate". It's may or may not be true but it's some of the worst journalism I've ever seen.

This is correct. CNN was never in the mold of Fox News or MSNBC. Since Trump declared war against the media, and CNN specifically at times, they have definitely turned anti-Trump. But so has 70% of the country. They feel the way most of us do. If the GOP ever decides to elect a non-racist human being with morals, I'm sure CNN will return to a more down-the-middle network.  The right hate any news outlet that reports facts. Trump has taught them that.

Try reading it again. You too @unckeyherb
yup, I read it again.

"Trump and his administration had dozens of "incidents", in a year,  all of which would have been bigger stories than anything since Iran Contra."  Your point being (as I read it) that Trump's "incidents", had they happened in a less crazy time, would have all been bigger stories than Iran-Contra.

So its a fair question to ask which 12+ incidents would you characterize as bigger stories than Iran-Contra?

I can start:

1.  Our POTUS has refused to implement sanctions passed on a bipartisan basis in Congress to punish the hostile foreign power who has attacked our democracy and its institutions.  for months, there are allegations of a quid pro quo between this POTUS and this hostile foreign power.

2. POTUS has fired the FBI Director who was investigating interference in our election by the above hostile foreign power (and possible collusion by POTUS campaign) and told the hostile foreign power he eased the pressure on them by firing the FBID.

3. POTUS initial NSA hire was kept on staff after WH was notified that he may be susceptible to blackmail by hostile foreign power mentioned in #1-2.  Instead, the acting AG who informed WH was fired.

I can do more but work commitments require my attention....

He said "bigger than anything since"  that is not the same as simply saying "bigger"

Those are all bad. Pretty much everyone except Team Trump is in agreement that Russia interfered with the election and he's not only denying it, he's trying to prevent it's investigation. This is one of the biggest stories in the history of the office.

impeachment of WJC > anything listed.
A BJ. I long to go back to a time when getting a hummer is a huge, impeachable issue. Remember when we actually held the office of President as a somewhat honorable position?  This orange fella paid of a porn star to not talk about how he banged her and it stayed in the news cycle for about three days.

Did the orange fella perjure himself and obstruct justice?

"SINCE" really matters here. Nice tries though.

Has he been formally charged with either?  We know how one of these things turned out already.  The two really don't compare for now.

Kenneth Starr was appointed in August of 1994 to investigate Clinton's participation in Whitewater.  His final report (which barely mentioned Whitewater, but did include Clinton's lies about Lewinski that led to the impeachment proceedings) was issued in September of 1998.  That's over 4 years of investigation for those who math-challenged.  Yet the Trump supporters keep harping that Mueller has been wasting money long enough.  If Starr had been stopped one year into the investigation, no one in America would know who Monica Lewinsky is, and the GOP would have lost one of their "But Clinton" battle cries.

Trump and his fan club simply want the investigation to go away. They all know this isn't going to turn out well for old Donnie boy. Their entire strategy now is to throw enough crap to the wall that they hope something sticks and to convince the public that Mueller and the entire FBI is crooked and out to get him. The walls are closing in on Trump and he is in desperation mode.

I guess this thread asks what is really fair and balanced?  Should CNN take a middle of the road approach in their reporting to counterbalance the alt-right and alt-left?

Does CNN have to just ignore Presidential 5 lies per day?

Ignore The Mooch, constant resignations and firings, and the daily drama coming out of the White House?

Is pulling out of the Paris accord and appointing a climate change denier to head the EPA worth talking about?

What about nominating judges who have never set foot in a courtroom to be federal judges?

How about domestic abusers working in the White House?

Is paying off a porn star to keep quiet during the election newsworthy?

Should they report on indictments, guilty pleas, and continuing investigations into the integrity of the last Presidential election?

Pointing out the hypocrisy in Trump's prior anti-golf and Presidential vacation speeches?

Should they be asking whether Mexico is gonna pay for the wall, 4% growth and less debt, cheap health care for all, or should they not scrutinize Trump's campaign promises?

Government shutdowns, healthcare fix, "####hole countries", daily tweet stupidity, and on and on ....

What is there to praise to bring their reporting to "the middle"?  A big, fricken' tax cut for the wealthy and the dismantling of everything with Obama's name on it?  Fact is there's just not much to praise and a large majority do not approve of the work being done by our current administration.  CNN's reporting reflects that.  If the Mueller investigation continues down the path it's on (more indictments and guilty pleas), the reporting is only going to get more negative, because it will accurately reflect the true disaster of this administration.

Two questions:

First off, what is wrong with a private company adjusting its business model to maximize profit? Doesn't CNN have a right to run their affairs however they choose (within the law, of course)? If CNN believes that an anti-Trump slant is going to be more profitable than a fair-and-balanced approach, why is that such a bad thing? Isn't that exactly what capitalism is all about?

Instead of complaining about CNN, why not support other news organizations that provide the kind of fair-and-balanced coverage that you allegedly crave? If CNN's model is really so bad and unpopular, then CNN will either be forced to change or it will go bankrupt.

Second, why should any company be fair to a person that has repeatedly attacked it and labelled it as "fake"? If you mess with my company, I'm probably going to go out of my way to make your life difficult.

"Never pick a fight with someone who buys ink electrons by the barrel."

I don't even get Fox news here Opie.  Used to watch Al Jazeera until they pulled it.
