This idea sounds familiar. It’s kind of like, “everyone that wears a MAGA hat is doing so to be provacative because they know it stands for racism”. The takeaway of course is that they are tacitly racist themselves. At least there’s some consistency?

What is this fascination that the “echo chamber” whiners have with the Report button. I’ve had numerous suspensions for all kinds of stuff. The mods just have to shut you down every once in a while.

I got 2 weeks for a word I hear on CBS sitcoms not directed at anyone. I think sometimes they hit the wrong button when dialing up the punishment.
The biggest problem is there are posters who will endlessly troll people for page after page and as soon as the poster bites back there are multiple abuse reports. One group has master this tactic and truned this forum into what it is. Of course that is 'whining'. To me it is just telling like it is and what has happened to this place .
It was smart. But either let it go or moderate it consistently. It comes across as random. It also seems the moderation only takes it seriously when there are multiple reports by the mob.

I think the point is have some personal responsibility for your own actions rather than constantly complaining that the mods only catch when you react to what you think is trolling.

I don’t think he has a valid point (that it’s some liberal tactic...or that anything is biased toward any side).
But the context of the conversation was about that...about the reaction.

It’s pretty obvious that some of us here have a different definition about whining. I grumble and complain about Trump all the time. Other people used to grumble and complain about Obama. Sometimes, as in this thread recently, I might criticize somebody else’s posts especially if I think it’s trolling. A lot of people criticize MY posts. To me, none of this is whining.
Whining is when you make yourself the victim. When your main complaint is about how others around here treat YOU. Hopefully I don’t engage in that; most of us around here don’t. The ones that do...are whiners!

No I don’t think anyone cares for you to post things you claim illustrate it but really don’t show what you are claiming. Like you did claiming my posts were lying. In fact I don’t think anyone cares to read any more back and forth between you and I.
Where does grumbling about moderation fall? I took the main complaint of his to be about that, and if his point true, has something to do about the thread title.

It depends. If you have general complaints about the moderators, that’s not whining. If your complaints are about how the moderators treat YOU, then it’s whining. IMO

As for the thread title- sometimes it is, especially during the Trump years. (Actually to be more precise, I might call it an “anti-Trump echo chamber”, since in truth a lot of the criticism against Trump is not rooted in liberalism per se.)
if you don’t like it, change it. If we have more conservative or pro-Trump voices, it will be less of an anti-Trump echo chamber. That seems pretty simple.

Without specific examples how would you ever make the claim? And as far a timeouts given you really only know the extent of your own, for the most part. Therefore It would make sense to compare your own timeouts to other people who you know got a pass.

I appreciate you posting this as it certainly illuminates some disparities in moderation here. I guess I just don't get why personal racial attacks get nothing and a general bitter pricks remark gets a month. But, your board, your rules.
Not going to happen with the ridiculous crap that gets thrown toward conservative posters. As one of the few remaining ones, now past tense, that inserted actual discourse I can say that the chamber just added more resonance.

I don’t see that. I see a few posters on “both sides” that seem to go on and on about stuff that I honestly am not even sure what they are talking about sometimes.
I know when I got punishments it was always for language. It’s been uneven but I always knew what it was for.
Of course you don't see it, but this is what happens when someone with a countering viewpoint enters a thread:
1. They are labeled a Trump supporter with all the guilt by association that goes along with that.
2. Accused of being some alias.
3. Are accused of trolling.
4. Dismiss the point as some kind of talking point
5. Told to quite whining.
6. Told to start another thread on that topic.
These are all wrapped with other condescending comments and mocking to belittle and demonize the poster and those posts all get multiple likes and good postings. So the discussion becomes personal instead of addressing any point. To me, that is what every thread in this forum has become to posters not with the mob. Except this one, but this will probably get locked soon.

Sadly there’s only probably 30 people that post in here regularly. I think the majority of those don’t do what you are describing. They may disagree with you but you’ll get your points challenged fairly.
I do see it what you are saying, but not by the majority of people. I could be wrong.
Not that you are asking or anything but there’s a few people you could probably just ignore and then still post without issue.
My 2 cents.
The majority of posters do not that. However the majority of those who respond do, which are about 10 very aggressive posters. So while there may be a couple of respectful responses, they get buried. Lately I have simply been pointing out the dreadful tactics. But that gets the whiner response instead of posters agreeing and trying to make it a better forum for discussion..

I have to be honest, I laughed at this and it’s kind of true. But it proves too much. Do people remember 2016? It got pretty nuts. It’s like the Before Times now. The place suffers from a lack of decent argument and discussion. But really, sorry, it is Trump’s fault. I think it’ll be better when he’s gone. He’s made some conservatives do somersaults and talk crazy theories and some liberals so mad they can’t type straight. The guy’s toxic to the whole country, and here’s hoping he’s an historical accident, a bump in the road, and we can all get back to arguing with each other normally.

@jon_mx @Ramblin Wreck @GoBirds and others. Really not picking a fight with this question or trying to be an ####### but if you are so unhappy with how the forum is run why do you stay? I really just don’t understand. Let’s say it’s everything you say it is; a liberal echo chamber, Trump hating, biased managed, unfair place where you get personally attacked constantly. Why spend your valuable free time in a place like that (regardless of how it “use to be”)? Thanks.
