Fight The Power!
This is specific to news events, examples and instances of how "the swamp" is absolutely not being drained.

Trump Supporters> feel free to defend or explain these or maybe be objective and be critical of these events.

Le'ts start this off:

The former CEO of a payday lending company that had been under investigation by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has asked to be considered for the top job at the watchdog agency, The Associated Press has learned.

Such a request would have been extraordinary in the years when the agency was run by an Obama appointee and often targeted payday lenders. Along with recent actions taken by the CFPB, it suggests a cozier relationship between industry and regulator since the Trump administration took over in November.

.....

She goes so far as to cite the CFPB’s investigation into her company as an experience that uniquely qualifies her for the job.

“I have indepth (sic) experience of what a CFPB investigation is like, and so I am in an unparalleled position to understand the effect of various CFPB actions on a company, its workforce, its customers and the industry,” she says.

The Environmental Protection Agency announced plans Thursday to scrap Obama-era rules tightening restrictions on disposal of coal ash, the toxic byproduct from coal-fired power plants that has caused major water contamination problems across the country.

EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt billed the new proposal as a bid to give states more independence over coal ash disposal, though he moved to reconsider the 2015 regulation in September at the request of fossil fuel utilities.

The EPA’s announcement makes no mention of the risks coal ash poses to human health and the environment.

BREAKING: we FOIA’d Mnuchin travel docs & he makes Carson and the others look like pikers—he blew over $1 million of your money flying military aircraft, with no apparent justification. His predecessors flew commercial.
Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin has billed taxpayers for the most expensive flight options available at every turn, appearing to never even consider flying commercial as his predecessors did, according to previously unreleased documents obtained by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW).

CREW filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for Mnuchin’s flight records following a military jet trip to Fort Knox, KY with his wife, Louise Linton, which coincided with the eclipse. The Treasury Department failed to turn over any records, leading CREW to sue. Months later, CREW received records which, though heavily redacted, showed that Mnuchin apparently abused his access to military and non-commercial aircraft for both business travel and occasional personal travel.

I'm considering applying for one of the empty positions that Trump has no intention to fill.   I'll offer to work remotely, not do anything productive, and if necessary leave dead-drops for Russian agents.  In exchange I want a salary and a government pension.  I'm thinking maybe ambassador?

I know this was posted in another thread....keeping it in here as well.

http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2018/04/trump-and-co-are-stealing-america-blind-timeline.html

More than at any time in history, the president of the United States is actively using the power and prestige of his office to line his own pockets: landing loans for his businesses, steering wealthy buyers to his condos, securing cheap foreign labor for his resorts, preserving federal subsidies for his housing projects, easing regulations on his golf courses, licensing his name to overseas projects, even peddling coffee mugs and shot glasses bearing the presidential seal. For Trump, whose business revolves around the marketability of his name, there has proved to be no public policy too big, and no private opportunity too crass, to exploit for personal profit.

Nowhere has the self-enrichment been more evident than at his Washington hotel, which quickly filled up with the very lobbyists and swamp creatures Trump had railed against during his campaign. Oil companies, mining interests, insurance executives, foreign diplomats, and defense contractors all rushed to book their annual conferences at Trump’s hotels and resorts, where Cabinet members graciously addressed them. After hiking the nightly rate to $653 — 32 percent higher than other local luxury hotels — Trump collected $2 million in profits from the property during his first three months in office. By last August, the hotel’s bar and restaurant had hauled in another $8 million in revenue. And although Trump has pledged to give away any money his hotels earn from foreign governments, the plan contains a lucrative loophole: Employees at his hotels admit that they make no effort to identify guests who represent other countries, meaning that much of the foreign money spent at Trump’s properties flows directly into his own pockets. On March 28, a federal judge allowed a lawsuit to go forward that charges Trump with violating the Constitution by accepting money from foreign governments at his D.C. hotel.

If you make campaign promises that aren't or obviously won't be kept you are the part of the swamp actually more like a pig in the swamp

-We are going to build a wall and I guarantee Mexico is going to pay for it

-We are going to repeal and replace Obama care with great great healthcare at a fraction of the cost

I think the White House is getting ready to kick him to the curb so they're leaking all this stuff to explain the move in advance and avoid accusations that they covered for him if it came out later. There's no way all these stories about him would coincidentally come out in such a short window after virtually no reports on the guy over the previous year.

Of all the swamp bull#### Trump is involved with Pruitt is pretty much top of the list. This guy has done long term damage. Problem is the next guy will probably be an even bigger oil company shill.

TRANSPARENCY

Pruitt “spent $3,000 to sweep his office for surveillance bugs,” then “$2,000 to install biometric locks with fingerprint readers,” then “more than $42,000” to build a secret phone booth in his office.

Fine people, these.

Might have to pin this baby before too long..

https://www.politico.com/story/2018/04/05/tillerson-state-department-consultants-503557

It was one of Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s core goals: radically reshaping the State Department to make it leaner, cheaper and modernized to the standards of a former private-sector CEO.

Now that Tillerson has been fired, the vaunted "Redesign" initiative he launched faces an uncertain future, but at least one clear legacy: around $12 million dollars spent just for private consultants who in some cases charged the State Department more than $300 an hour.

The odds of you getting any substantive action from the right on this is zero.

You are right though.  Trump turned the “swamp” into an ocean of corruption.
Just no way to have seen this coming.

This one's on us, you guys.

NEW from @AP: The Trump family hotel business asked the President of Panama to intervene in a court case in Panama to help the company..
Good times.

Remember when Obama pronounced the P in Marine Corp?
That's one of the many insane things about the current state of the Republican party. They spent eight years getting all worked up about completely nonsensical things regarding Obama and now when actual corruption is erupting within the White House they just ignore it all.

Party over country FTW.

Has this guy (one of the chiefs of the Bureau of Reclamation) been mentioned yet?

- compared the Parkland kids to Nazis
- claims that anti-Trump people are paid protesters
- promoted a theory that the Parkland shooting was orchestrated by Democrats, pedophiles, and CIA mind-control specialists (not necessarily in that order)

Oh yeah, and this:

- disbarred in 1999 after trying to kill his ex-girlfriend by cutting the brake lines of her car.

House Freedom Caucus members are urged to stand by Rep. Jim Jordan

House Freedom Caucus members are being urged to stand by Rep. Jim Jordan amid allegations that he knew about, but did not report, the alleged sexual abuse of wrestlers he coached at Ohio State University in the early 1990s.

Rep. Mark Meadows, who chairs the House Freedom Caucus, called on members to support Jordan, an Ohio Republican who's one of the founders of the conservative voting bloc.

"I have always known Jim Jordan to be a man of the utmost character, honor and integrity. As the independent investigation is concluded, I'm confident people will learn the truth and it will confirm all he has said about the situation," the North Carolina Republican told CNN on Friday. "I'm proud to stand by Jim Jordan and support him 100% and call on all of my colleagues to do the same."

It remains unclear, however, whether the nearly three dozen lawmakers who make up the Freedom Caucus will heed Meadows' advice and defend Jordan publicly when they return to Capitol Hill next week.

...

CNN reached out to the offices of conservative members—including those in the Freedom Caucus—on Friday and received only a few responses, along with the one provided by Meadows. The House was not in session on Friday, and most members were in their districts for recess.

Republican Rep. Ken Buck of Colorado described Jordan as "the real deal" in a statement to CNN.

"His integrity and willingness to tackle tough issues for those who don't have a voice is unmatched by anyone in Congress. It is inconceivable to me that Jim would ignore complaints of sexual abuse by athletes he clearly loved and respected."

A spokesman for another conservative member, Rep. Andy Biggs, pointed to a comment he made to USA Today in defense of Jordan.

"I know Jim and Jim has said ... this is a complete fabrication and that's good enough for me," he said. "I'm all in for Jim."

...CNN has been unable to independently verify whether Freedom Caucus members indeed believe Jordan's denials. ...
