Ski-lift malfunctioned and went in reverse twice as fast as normal..this is crazy.

How does the lift not have an immediate kill switch to shut the motor off?  Did the operator get tossed too?  That is insane.

The motor failing is what started it. The safety brake also failed. So the entire thing was just in free fall backwards.

The operator should have hit the safety-stop switch.

Sadly, he hit the kill switch.
