I guess The Godfather trilogy never interested me. Mafia  -- and action (in an aside) for that matter -- movies leave me flat, no matter how reinterpreted.

Per Walking Boot, Caddyshack was not funny, other than "Ahoy Polloi."That was a great line and nudges the movie to worth the hour and a half. But Bill Murray in that movie? Not funny.

Other than that, I can't think of too many movies that consensus movie-goers picked that let me down. The only critic I paid attention to was Ebert; the rest have some sort of sociopolitical agenda regardless.

I can think of movies I love more than others, but not hate. I generally appreciate works of art and the craft itself.

Pulp Fiction

Shawshank

American Beauty

all the Star Wars saga

ditto for Back to the Future
I love all five of these, the last two for the first installments.

I barely knew ye.

Pulp was such a mind#### with its narrative structure. When it came out in '94 or '95, us college students were just blown away by it in the theater. When **** Dale came on???????

Oh my God. You had a buyer immediately.

itsaprotip - the Clash were overrated, as well - the Jam blow them out the water

ok, we won't hijack here ...

as far as BttF, i ####### despise Fox - only good thing he ever did was "Curb" - took him close to 50 years, but he finally did something worthy, albeit a 30 minute episode only.

"Pulp" was so laughable, imo ... a comic book nerd/geek foisting SHOCK!!!11!!11!1 to his likewise minions .. it was straight up dog####.

I barely knew ye.
:bye:

Wow. My rankings.

Clash (cantankerous, rock, ska, reggae) >>>> Jam (boring, plodding, rock)

Pulp was not necessarily comic book or geekery, it appealed to those of us that liked a fractured narrative structure.

As far as BTTF, Calvin and Lea Thompson were awesome in the dynamic of the first one. Especially the Oedipal stuff. Too funny. Great, great movie.

This is schtick, right?

All the superhero movies.

All the newer comedies (Hangover etc).

Sideways. Don’t get the love at all.

Star Wars.

It's not the movies you hate list...
It would make mine. I've tried to watch Godfather on three separate occasions just to try to understand what the fuss was about. I still don't think I've ever seen the ending, I just can't get through it. Such a boring snore-fest, I just hate it so much.

Also agree with earlier mentions of 2001, Royal Tenenbaums, Blazing Saddles and Kill Bill. Will also add Dumb & Dumber to the list. So much suck.

I posted “The Princess Bride” in the overrated movie thread a few months ago, and I think I got more vitriol for that post than for anything that I’ve ever posted here.
