I wouldn't underestimate the ability of someone like Erdogan to transform a nation with only a slight majority. Chavez wreaked havoc on Venezuela that way. I'm not sure they can be trusted in NATO right now but Otoh Turkey is key to NATO.

yeah Venezuela is nothing compared to Turkey. Turkey's position in the world- the fact that it borders Russia, Europe, Iran, Iraq...

Gulen should consider either hiding or fleeing to Canada. The Canadians have shown a will to stand up to the Saudis, which the US is cozy with. I bet they would tell Turkey to go #### themselves as well.

I missed this somehow in November, but looks like the direction they've been headed. Apparently the idea is some ###-for-tat arrangement in which Turkey gets Gulen in exchange for giving the Saudis a free pass on the Kashoggi murder. Ick.
