I don't understand how this industry sustains itself.  I guess they don't need to make a ton of money considering anyone with a camera can become a producer, but I know they haven't received a dime from me in years.

As far as the 'pole' is concerned, include online subscriptions, webcam stuff, DVD purchases, PPV buys, content/toys/pills that you purchased because of online advertising, admission to adult trade shows, etc.

There's a lot of lonely people in this world.  $0

Whenever I drive through the city past the Adult Entertainment store it's always pretty busy.  As far as Pr0n goes, Anyone who pays for website access is a sucker!

Zero. I don't recall even going to a strip club (if that counts for this poll) in the last five years.

I'm assuming a lot of money is generated from internet advertising for those adult dating sites?

Pole is flawed. $100 over 5 years really isn't that much. I'm sure there are guys in the FFA that probably spend $100 im a month.

Oh man, what were those spring break collections called?  There’s a good chance a box or two of those on VHS are hidden up in the attic of my parents house from back in high school.  That’s the last time money left pocket for teh nudez

Usenet: about ten bucks a month

VPN: same

4TB NAS array: 250.00

But it’s mostly for music and mainstream content. Mostly

Good question here. I've wondered ths before and I have two totally unsubstantiated theories:

1.  The free sites pay some of the people who generate content (or maybe are run by the same people) and then make it back with ad sales.

2. The money to sustain the industry is coming from ISPs somehow. Imagine how much wifi and extra bandwidth people have purchased to accommodate their viewing habits.

I always just assume the video stores have people go there because those people can't or don't have internet access do to being on a predator list or something

It's basically same model as YouTube. Except for much of the content they get away with not paying the provider anything.

Even the actual original content gets pennies a view compared to YT.

The real money is in camming.

I haven't been in a long time, but a good amount of money rolls in on the live cam sites. You can lurk for free, but you see as guys "tip". Plus the girls do private cams and sell their own videos. It's basically an online strip club.

I'm sure there's plenty of money for hub-type sites from ad sales and people actually buying full length videos. Not something I'd care to spend money on, but surely the market is there.

From what I understand from my gay cousin Shawn, a lot of gay...um..."action" goes on in those stores. I think the dudes get it on in the theaters/glory holes.

Makes sense. I doubt all of them are lined up to buy dvds and magazines.

A guy on my hockey team, says his wife and him pick up other swingers at those stores as well.  Seems like a hangout.

Glory holes are real?  :oldunsure:

I go about every other week for lunch.  The buffet is actually pretty decent, best lunch in town for 9 bucks.

How do you know if it was really him?
We FaceTimed so it was 100% her via private connection. I was a tad bit skeptical after she promoted it on her Twitter. She looked totally bored but an insanely hot body for a college code ed. She’s been featured on sites like Brazzers, Naughty America and Bangbros. I know this sounds total bs but I did do it. I was in a bad place and spent money on these girls. Honestly it’s prob better to watch porn instead.

I would guess that it is similar to a lot of other things out there in that the majority of their money comes in from a very small percentage of their "customers." The advertisers probably pay enough to keep the lights on and such but the rest is from the folks addicted to pron, people overly-infatuated with specific pron-stars, or extremely lonely and/or socially shy dudes.

I had a good friend from college that was a nice guy, but extremely dorky, not good looking (poor guy was bald in high school,) and not surprisingly, extremely awkward around women. He spent a bunch of money on pron and eventually moved up to high class hookers after college. He was also an extremely smart tech guy with a great paying job and so could afford it. He tried Match and some other dating sites but in the end I think he told me once that it was just a better use of his time and money to pay for it. It's not like he was looking to settle down with anybody at the time. He showed me a few pictures and the website he used at the time, some of the high dollar chicks were pretty smokin'... at least in their pictures. He came to Vegas one time for a bachelor party and scheduled a visit to the Bunny Ranch where they picked him up in a limo and drove him out there. A buddy and I wanted to go with him just to see the place, but spectators/visitors weren't allowed to go, you could only go with if you were going to partake of the wares.

How many here watch or make it through the whole vid? Some of them are like 45 minutes long. I’m not talking whole movie, like one scene.

I just scroll to certain parts of the vids if I want to ummm...

Thats why it doesn’t make sense to buy it. It’s like buying a large meal when you only want the baked potato

Soooooo, you not gonna say who?

Every single 0 vote should be thrown out.

Every single person in here has bought something "nice" for their significant other to wear in the bedroom and it wasn't because they thought they would be comfortable sleeping in it.

He asked about adult content.  I’m not sure what buying lingerie has to do with his question of how these places stay in business.

Maybe we need to clearly define "adult content" because I don't think the OP considered this at all (neither did I or think we should).

So what you do in the bedroom with your s/o isn't adult content?
Did you even read the OP?

It seems pretty obvious what he’s talking about.
