***EPL 2018-19 Fantasy League*** Draft Done - Waivers run on Wednesday (1 Viewer)

Lets get this process started.  I have created the new league for 2018-19.  Everyone who was in the league last year should have access now.

Only rule change for me is expanding the roster. Either with a couple IR spots or just a couple spots in general. Otherwise, looks great to me.

But, here are the basic rules:

1.  EPL players/Season - we play 38 weekly matches, team with best record at the end of the 38 weeks is the winner (3 points for a win, 1 point for the rare tie)  We have had 14 teams for the past few years - 3 games against every opponent except 1, who you play twice.

2.  We draft 17 players per team, you start 11 - any normal formation (minimum of 3 Defenders, 1 MF, 1 Striker, 1 GK, Max of 5 D, M; 3 Striker, 1 GK

3.  You can draft any player in the world, the only players who can score are in the PL.  In years past we would probably draft 15-20 players not in the PL, with the hope that a given player would be bought in the transfer window.  This year, it may be slightly fewer, as the PL transfer window closes on August 9, 1 day before the season starts.

4.  Roster changes can be made weekly up to 5 minutes prior to a player's game time - i.e. the roster is not locked at the first game.

5.  We have a weekly waiver system - waiver order is determined in reverse order of the draft, and as you pick, you move to the back of the line.  Some ( @Eephus ) will hold a waiver priority until the January window.  Waivers run Wednesday night, and then it is first come, first served.  Any new players will run through waivers first - but not likely to be an issue until January.

6.  Scoring:

All Players:

• Game started: 1
  
• Game played: 1  (a player who starts a game gets 2 points, a sub gets 1)
  
• Yellow Card: -0.5
  
• Red Card: -3
  
• Assists: 3  (this includes players who earn a Pen)
  
• Own Goals: -2
  

Goalkeeper:  

• Saves: 0.333
  
• Pen Save: 1
  
• Clean Sheet: 4
  
• Goal Scored: 6
  
• Conceded Goal: -0.5
  

ALL Outfielders

• Interceptions: 0.1
  
• Blocks: 0.1
  
• Missed Pen: -1
  

Defenders

• Goal: 6
  
• Clean Sheet:  4
  
• Conceded Goal: -0.25
  

Midfielders

• Goal: 5
  
• Clean Sheet: 1
  

Forwards

• Goal: 4
  

7.  Tiebreakers - weekly matches can end in a tie, albeit rare given the scoring.  League Tiebreakers are:  1. Best record; 2. Most Points (total fantasy points for); 3.  Head-to-Head record.  Coin flip/dice roll.

I have made one executive decision - and recommend another.

For position eligibility, I have set the criteria for 15 games played to be eligible at a position.  This uses whatever data feed Fantrax uses - it is about as objective as we can get.

But, I recommend a small committee of 3 to over-ride these settings if the situation warrants.  The only time I see this becoming an issue is the definition and use of wingbacks.  For example, Fantrax classifies players like Marcos Alonso, Victor Moses and Kolasinak as MFs - while the official game, and I think most observers, classify them as defenders.

At a minimum, I think we should get some consensus on that position in particular before a draft - even if that consensus is to leave the eligibility determination to fantrax.

I'll defer to you on position stuff but I agree with what you laid out.

Top 4 spots pay out. Top 3 spots go based on record. 4th spot is on most points scored by remaining 11 teams. This helps offset the bad luck that sometimes happens a bit over the course of the season but still keeps the H2H as most important. Can also keep other teams still in it later in the season.
