Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Thread (4 Viewers)

And he gets 7 likes from the mob to illustrate my point.   They are just mad they can't quite pile on like in the past.  And they are baffled why normal people won't come within a mile of this forum.
It was a joke, hopefully lighthearted.  Nor did I take his statement as serious.

You are right that they can't pile on like in the past.  The mods seem to have finally thrown out some of the worst of the worst, like Dedfin.

You mean they read into the future and went back in time to insult me.   Awesome #### there.
This is the order those posts went in:

GET HIM! Don’t let him get away again!

I really don't know why you find having intelligent discussions are so offensive.   The snarky personal stuff is so juvenile.

Pardon me, sir, but I object to your blatant mischaracterization of our interaction yesterday eve. You did not simply point out how she voted, but  responded to a post about the silence of conservatives regarding the IG's report as the reason WHY she voted that way. Far from being unknown, the reason I responded to you was clearly spelled out in my post.
No I did not.   I responded to a post about some whataboutism alleged hypocrisy with a case of blatant hypocrisy by AOC.  Regardless of whatever bs you wish to assume, you were way out of line.   So the cesspool continues with this crap and you continue it along with the rest of the gang.

No, I didn't. Just calling about possible hypocrisy.
Possible hypocrisy?  Is that where we are now.  When one doesn't have a clear recollection otherwise we assume the worse and then call it possible hypocrisy.  Possibly I am guilty of this, possibly not, who can say, the point is I may be unless I can prove the negative.  Same for all others.

Trump compares AOC to Evita; AOC doesn’t seem to mind the comparison:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/slate.com/news-and-politics/2019/07/ocasio-cortez-quotes-eva-peron-evita-trump.amp

My only question here is which of these two is being more stupid. It’s a tough one. I’m supremely confident that Trump’s knowledge of Eva Peron is limited to the Broadway musical (probably limited to “Don’t Cry for me Argentina”). His comparison is bigoted, sexist  and inane.

But AOC’s quotes of Evita and her comment about a “woman of the people” ignores the fact that Eva Peron, despite being a populist, was essentially a right wing fascist married to a third rate Franco wannabe. Seriously AOC what’s next? Are you going to start quoting Freida Kahlo? How about La Passionista? At least, like you, they were left wing latinas ( though both agreed with Eva about the need for dictatorship).

Don't cry for me Arlen Tina.

That you have to lie to try save some face is understandable. Public humiliation is uncomfortable and can lead some to take desperate measures.

"I was responding to a whataboutism with a whataboutism" is an interesting made-up defense to take, but as long as truth isn't an issue I probably would have gone with something that painted me in a better light. It's okay, I realize we're kind of scraping the bottom of the barrel here.

I'm in a generous mood so I'll accept your half-hearted attempt at an apology and we can leave it at that. I hope you can piece your self-confidence back together so I get a chance to hear some of the intelligent discussion I've been hearing about
Both of you please stop acting like children and drop the back and forth. It's tiresome from both of you and annoying. Drop it.

If that's not acceptable to either of you, please find a new board.

Ever notice how it's the same half-dozen posters who derail seemingly every thread with personal slapfights and back-seat modding?
Ever notice how not once do I start these fights.  I post facts and/or opinions on a topic, and then the responses becomes personal.  Truthfully, it is total BS that i get called out by the mods for simply pointing out the nonsense.

You are regularly and severely wronged, nearly to the point of martyrdom, and yet you soldier on manfully.  Kudos to you for your fortitude good Sir!

He was awful.  Hopefully he doesn’t find a way back.

If I may respond on behalf of the entire world, yes.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) accused Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) of repeatedly singling out newly elected women of color in the House, saying that the veteran congresswoman's criticism has become "outright disrespectful."

Ocasio-Cortez made the remarks in an interview with The Washington Post late Wednesday after a day of heightened tensions between Pelosi and House Democrats.

“When these comments first started, I kind of thought that she was keeping the progressive flank at more of an arm’s distance in order to protect more moderate members, which I understood,” Ocasio-Cortez told the Post.

“But the persistent singling out … it got to a point where it was just outright disrespectful … the explicit singling out of newly elected women of color,” she added.
:boxing: :boxing:

While everyone amuses themselves with palace intrigue, AOC is doing real work.  Yesterday she questioned the Fed Chairman on the Fed's recent policies on the relationship between unemployment and inflation (policies that protected the wealthy over the working class during the latter stages of the Obama presidency and quite possibly got Donald Trump elected) and got him to admit the Fed had it wrong.

I hope every poster that has insulted her intelligence and integrity takes the time to read that article and the embedded comments from respected economists.

ETA: Just in case some don't- she pursued a line of questioning and advocated for a policy that would help Donald Trump get reelected because she believes (with substantial support) that it's the right thing to do for America's working class.

I don’t think Biden or Pelosi iare racists. I don’t like Joes policies and can’t stand Pelosi. It strikes me as lazy to every time call someone who disagrees with you a racist. The word really has no power anymore.  It’s used as an attempt to get people to shut up.   Let’s see if it works. AOC has made a powerful enemy doing this. That old bat 🦇 is crafty.  She better watch her back.

Huge mistake by AOC. For as much as she hates Trump, stuff like this will only help him get re-elected. The Democrats eating their own is not the way to win back the WH.

Has anybody argued she cant read? I dont think i have seen that criticism in here.

I always find Saikat's questions very insightful.

I agree, but I don't think they can help themselves. Too many different agendas.
I get that. It makes sense that in a party with that many reps, the priorities and agendas will vary, but AOC going public with that accusation is a very bad look. Some things are better left said privately.

According to the New York Times’ Jonathan Martin, the House Dem house of cards is on the verge of collapse, thanks to the escalating tensions between Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Nancy Pelosi. As Twitchy told you, AOC now claims that accusing Nancy Pelosi of explicitly going after women of color doesn’t mean she thinks Pelosi is a racist. That spin’s not working on us … and it seems pretty safe to say at this point that it’s not going to work on some of Pelosi’s House allies:

@RepDanCrenshaw
Madam Speaker, welcome to the true nature of identity politics - where you’re accused of being racist for no reason at all, and where intellectually lazy insults are used against you as a way to replace substantive debate of your argument or idea
Got to respect Dan.

Am I understanding this right, calling AOC an immigrant? Guess some Dems need more education, too.

referring to this

https://www.independentsentinel.com/aocs-chief-of-staff-attacks-other-democrats-as-dixiecrat-racists/

The communist/socialist chief of staff of communist/socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-NY, deleted a tweet accusing somewhat moderate House Democrats of being the “new Southern Democrats,” aka the Dixiecrats. The Southern Democrats, vile racists, were responsible for Jim Crow laws and the KKK.

Totally drunk on power. I like it. Her and Pelosi fighting each other is a win.
You're following people because they appear to confirm what you have been already fed. The pot being stirred by people who are, probably, no where near either of these women doesn't help your argument... or cheering.

All he is doing is stirring the pot. No reason to respect that aspect of him. Same with Jon Martin. Stir the pot just to spark up something and preach to his followers. No reason to respect that aspect either.
Dan is pretty level headed from what I've seen.  He isn't stirring the pot as much as stating his opinion on the matter.

Yeah...I respect his service to the country...but beyond that much of what he says doesn’t necessarily deserve respect.

I disagree that AOC hurts the Democrats. She actually will help the Democrats IF a moderate is the nominee.

AOC can be the Sistah Souljah of the 2020 campaign. Assuming the candidate is Harris or Biden, all they have to do is mildly repudiate AOC in order to position themselves firmly in the center and completely take away Trump’s best strategy.
