Chiefs vs. Rams - Battle of Missouri - Week 11 (1 Viewer)

Absolutely!!!  Get out the popcorn!!

Defenses are going to be winded at altitude chasing Cooks and Hill.

Can not wait.  Going to be so much fun to watch.  Likely a last team with the ball wins type game

The fist Vegas O/U line out is the highest since 1986.  64
Just saw that O/U and was wondering when the last time it was that high. Wonder who was in that game...

It sounds like 1986 was just when they started tracking it, so I'm not sure whether there ever has been or not.  The highest since 1986 was Rams-49ers in 2009 at 62.

I think sometimes games expected to be high scoring disappoint. Maybe not the game itself, but in the amount of points scored. Having watched every second of every Chiefs game, one of the recipes to keeping it close with them is to have long sustained drives.  Currently the Chiefs defense isn't really good enough to slow down a team that can pretty much move the chains at will, especially running the ball.  And then if that team can score touchdown instead of field goals it could be a bad mix for them.  Having said those two things, those are two things the Rams are really good at.  The Chiefs are also pretty good at this.  And yes, both teams can produce quick strike bunch yardage plays, but I am not sure this will be the video game/pinball machine game scoring wise that many people think.

Yet another reason to discontinue these nonsense games in Mexico and the UK.     Unless the NFL is serious about moving the Jaguars to London (which they seem to be), 2 to 3 games in London is ridiculous and total slap in the face to the season ticket holders of the teams that are awarded a "home" game in London each year.

Game in Mexico City on a sh&# field?    Why?    What is the point of this other than simple $ grab.

The NFL needs to cut this crap out, if they want to be international then drop an expansion team in Toronto and be done with it.

Mandatory field turf in all stadiums

This is a pretty significant black-eye for the NFL related to player safety if they go on with this game.  And granted, the NFL doesn't control the stadium the Mexico City game would be played in...but how do you not have as part of the conditions for hosting a game there, the playability of the field surface?

I know the London series has had some issues here since the 'pitch' is generally used for soccer.  But are the surfaces ever unsafe?  You look at this upcoming game and most high schools will have better fields.

Come on, guys. It's football. Watching highlights of the Ice Bowl you never see Willie Wood or Jerry Kramer whining about the field conditions.

Actually the NFL was sending personal over there to overlook and inspect the field they do control

This also is not 1967. You realize that NFL football has changed just a teensy bit since then in regards to rules protecting players, right?

I mean, you never saw Starr or Don Meredith benefit from 15 yard penalties from, say, Bill George hitting Starr so hard his teeth pierced through his lip, or Meredith getting viciously clotheslined by Chris Hanburger.

NFL has every right to -- and should -- protect player safety by insuring any field the game is played on meets an acceptable standard that won't put players in jeopardy.

NFL also has every right to look at international expansion, but I'm with the masses here in the opinion that they shouldn't -- it's too transparent a money grab at the expense of the fans and the game.

as a commish...kind of  a fantasy nightmare if this game gets switched to their bye week (12) or something...

actually now that I think about it....that might be the best of the options....give them a bye this week and they play next week...

for fans of either team planning to travel there for the game this could be real bad if moved to a different week or location like LA....

Yeah this sucks.  If anyone, let alone one of the studs, on these two powerhouse teams were to have a significant injury because of the field that would look really really bad.

Not true. Multiple player complaints leading up to that game regarding field conditions and halfhearted (albeit failed) attempts were made to thaw, and keep it thawed for the game.

When I think of field conditions, first thing that comes to mind is Willie Gault sprinting across the astro-turf at Veterans Stadium, hitting one of those filler pieces around 2nd base dirt island, and blowing out BOTH knees at the same time... effectively ending his career. IIRC his wife, a lawyer, tried to bring a suit against the NFL.

Looking at update from Schefter on Twitter. Nothing to add to existing reports about possibly moving the game to LA, but the first comment almost made me snarf my drink:

@Three Year Letterman "When you foolishly schedule games in South America, you reap what you sow."

Field doesn't look that bad in pictures from this morning. Who knows but can't imagine they move it at this point.

Poor field conditions at Mexico City's Azteca Stadium has the NFL considering moving Monday's game between the Rams and Chiefs to Los Angeles.

The field is in "serious disrepair" after a Saturday concert. It is a turf/grass combination, and sod replacements were being made on Tuesday. "We are working closely with the field manager at Azteca Stadium and others to ensure that we have an NFL quality surface for our game, and we are looking forward to kicking off in Mexico City on Monday night," a league spokesman said. It would be very un-NFL to move the game. Short of truly catastrophic playing conditions, we expect the league to keep the game in Mexico.
For the people who missed it in the shot, I saw a part of the field that looked like painted mud. Now, they have time to resod parts of the field and get more grass/turf  mixture, but the NFL seems to want to see the field in playing shape by at least Wednesday/Thursday.

Empty threats to light a fire under their ### and get them moving on it quickly.  Game won't be moved.

Unbelievable... stop this nonsense. We get ####### 9ers/Giants on Monday night and the best matchup of the year is going to be marred by a ####### Shakira concert in Mexico.

Someone reported the field was wrecked by a concert over the weekend.  Hopefully it won't be an issue.
During last nights game they were talking up the mexico game and actually showed a flyover view of the stadium and it caught my eye that the field looked like absolute horse poop. it was terrible looking... so actually not surprised to read this afternoon the concerns about the field conditions

This is not the 1950’s/1960’s. There is a reason that it’s not welcomed. The same reason players don’t play two ways or smoke cigs on the sidelines or run the wishbone: the quality of play is better. No one wants to see a mud bowl where 4 to 5 serious mangled leg injuries happen.

You're right. I'd much rather see AJ Green out a month with turf toe and 4 to 5 knee injuries per game. Much safer.

Rams & Chiefs Considering Boycotting MNF Game Due To Unsafe Field Conditions In Mexico

It was reported Tuesday that the NFL was considering moving Monday Night’s highly anticipated matchup between the Rams and Chiefs in Mexico City back stateside due to the poor field conditions left by a recent concert at Azteca Stadium.

They may have no choice to now.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, a number of both Rams and Chiefs players are strongly considering boycotting the game if they are forced to play on a field they deem unsafe to avoid injury.

If Monday night’s game is played in Mexico City, a number of Rams and Chiefs players are now strongly considering not playing in that game on that messy surface, per sources. “It’s not fair to risk our health,” one prominent player said today.

The league is working with the field manager at the stadium to ensure a safe, “NFL quality” field is in place for the game, but the conditions from two days ago look anything but.

The league ran into problems with the playing surface for international games when they first played a game across the pond and played at Wembley Stadium outside of London where the field was far too soft and slippery.
