My 9 year old daughter wants a skateboard for Christmas. Any suggestions for size, styles, materials, or specific models? Not looking to spend a ton but want a good solid starter board for around $50 give or take.

A bit pricier than $50 but these seem pretty popular for early skaters/scooters:

Find a local skateshop and just buy their in-house board.  Did that last year for my son, spent a hundo and it rolls so much better than anything you'd find in a box store.
