Analyzing texts written in three different languages gave me the perspective necessary to succeed in sciences which for me, was like learning new languages.

Except I don't think she was trying to say that analyzing texts was what was like learning new languages. 

I think the question is was it "to succeed" that was like learning new languages or was it "sciences" that were like learning new languages?

That's a little less obvious. I'd go with Otis' plan to rewrite it. 

I mean, if it weren't already submitted. I'm sure it was perfect the way she submitted it.  :) Good luck!
