So, I've become a little bit more stressed out than usual and am contemplating trying pot to help mellow me out.

Problem is, I live in a state where it is still illegal and I've never tried it before.  In fact, I don't have a clue where to find it and don't know anyone who uses (at least openly).

Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe.  Probably most of them at work.  My social circle is pretty clean cut, but you never really know.

How does one go about asking?  Should I wait until a happy hour and bring it up?  I'm not all that "cool" so advice is appreciated.

go to the closest 7/11 parking lot- find a teenage kid loitering out front- tell him you'll buy him beer if he gives you his marijuana.

next time you're out for drinks, start a conversation about the recent law passing for medicinal purposes. segue that into converstaion about "how it work getting it" hahahah can you imagine... then- "i've never tried it... I woudln't even know where to go" ... etc. etc. 

the next time you're out for drinks, you'll be asking about heroin.

Go ask an on duty officer where to buy some.  Seriously, nobody cares.  Just ask anyone.  Just make sure you trust the person you are asking to make sure you smoke the same stuff they smoke to make sure it isnt laced with crap

Just ask

"You know anybody I can buy weed from?"

Its really not as big a deal as you are making it.

 
Craigslist search 420 and there will be results that are hidden within other ads for you.

Or have a friend from a legal state mail you some gummies/edibles. Stay at 10mg potency, higher will kick your rear.

I spent 4+ years in Mississippi and had no problem finding teh pot in the early/mid 90s.  :shrug:

In Dallas, we used to buy weed from a guy at an Exxon station.  Not a guy loitering or just hanging around the station, no this guy worked behind the counter.  We bought from him for years.  Everybody did.  Crazy.

I am a daily smoker and have lived in OK or KS my whole life, so that's not what I meant, but just going up to somebody you don't know that well and asking them if they know where to get weed is probably not the best idea, particularly if it's people you work with.

No, I think the approach of asking people you work with or don't know well is a terrible idea.  Better would be to get to know a bartender or two, some restaurant staff, etc and just ask them.  Restaurant industry is full of drugs no matter where you are in this country.  

 
Your best bet might be to mess with some CBD products.  I think they're legal just about everywhere these days.

I'm not sure getting high for the first time in a non-legal state is going to help your stress levels any.  Maybe exercise and eat better?

But if you're totally set on getting stoned.  Figure out what exactly it is you want and I'll help you out.

Now look at this.  Someone made a thread earlier about this site being a ghost town, meanwhile we've got secret 420 information hidden within craigslist disclosed and a weed hookup connection generated in like 90 minutes.  Man, we've got movie recommendations, sex survey threads, generic cialis site reviews, politics. . . pretty much have it all going on here. . .Ghost town my ###!

Do you know what the penalty is for smoking some weed in a non legal state?  Yeah, me either.  Nobody does.

 
also... at least for me... it's more fun to get high with friends. and probably better for the op if it's somebody who's used to getting high to talk him down when he starts going crazy.

lol, I was just curious where he's located, nothing like that going on here. I'd imagine there are some small towns in central MO where it could be tough.

I watch Live PD and travel a lot... so it depends... but yes, I do know the penalty in some places.  In a lot of places it's just a misdemeanor.  However, in a lot of states having any concentrates is a felony.   Arizona, for example, has medical marijuana but had a law that any concentrates was a felony and a mandatory 1 year sentence. 

 
Was huge pot smoker in the 70s but before I got married had to promise my wife-to-be that I would quit.   That was 1981 and while I look back fondly at those days I have no desire to smoke again.   I know it is a different kind of buzz but craft beer, homebrewing and wine more than fill the void. 

Plus pot is so much more potent now and I am so much older who knows how I would react?

"Kansas City voted to reduce the penalties for simple possession of marijuana, amending local laws regarding the possession of up to 35 gms of marijuana for adults age 21 and older from a criminal misdemeanor to a civil offense punishable by a $25 fine."

in 2018 voters passed Amendment 2, legalizing medical marijuana statewide.

granted, it looks like the application process in MO to get approved for medical cannabis is a PITA, but i would think it'd be fairly simple to have a physician recommend this course of treatment (i.e. get your Medical MJ card).

Obviously you’re happily married? I have never understood marrying someone who demands change first. Why did she want you to quit? Seems controlling. 

 
If I were to get back into it right now (instead of waiting until my imminent retirement to grow my own), I'd ask my kids first, various brothers-in-law next, then some nephews who have been popped for possession before. Wait, maybe I'd just start with the nephews.  Here in the mid-Atlantic area, getting caught is generally about as inconvenient as having to show up in court for a speeding ticket; cops seem pretty bored by the whole thing and anyone making a big deal out of it would be an object of pity and/or derision. 

But I've admitted in other threads that I don't understand Red America at all on these kinds of issues, maybe things are way different in Boondock, MO. Been some good suggestions in this thread, though. Odds are pretty good that about 600,000 people in your state toke up now and then.

People who will know how to get you weed: bartenders, workers at surf/skate shops and hotel concierge. Also check out weedmaps app. There may be people in our area who will deliver it to you.

 
Any vape shops near you? Most of the pens they sell for vaping use the same oil cartridges that contain THC. I was never a big MJ guy back when it was breaking up nuggets, rolling, using bowls, etc but this is such a better way to smoke.

I used to have a couple drinks to relax at night, now I take a couple hits. Way better for you, especially if you can control the munchies, and no hangover.

Yeah I was doing this every night and loving it but the munchies sucked and I'm fat so quit for now. Some varieties are better to limit the munchies.

really really  good advise-do it with some friends.

Few years ago in Jamaica on the beach with friend haven't seen in years.  I bought a joint & he smoked for the first time.  Thing is didn't feel like we were drawing anything in because of the humidity the joint was moist.  So we kept sucking on it until 3/4 gone-then it hit.  Oh mamma, did it hit.  My friend liked the feeling after he got rid of the usual initial paranoia.  Therein lies the reason for smoking first time with a friend or by yourself in your own safe spot(with music).

spend the $ and buy an arizer air 2, find a good introductory strain (i suggest nordle or cbd kush) and open up your world

It really is great for relaxing and if done with some thought behind it, I recommend it.
