*Official 2019 Philadelphia Eagles Thread* - Season's over; Go Away Now... (4 Viewers)

I think it's pretty crazy to say 'the best'.  "the best group" could for sure be there, but at each position is a huge stretch, as there's a lot of good players in the league.  They look good, but Kelce isn't the #1 C in the league.

I couldn't find more recent ones, but PFF ranked the top linemen at each position after week 5.  Kelce was #10 C, Peters and Lane were #8 and 9 respectively, and Brooks was #2 Guard.
If you talk consistency and health in there Kelce and Johnson are up there as the best or top 3 best at their position. You also have Peters when Healthy a legit first ballot HoFer. How many people with a LT can say that in the NFL

The Seattle game is no longer Sunday Night for week 12. I'm ok with that. We've been terrible on primetime lately.
I'm somewhat ok but I also was betting that on one of my weeks to work as a Sunday. With my Schedule TNF and later the game the better for me as I don't risk as much not seeing it

I'm biased for obvious reasons here but VHIII with his lack of hustle is still better talent wise then any of the guys on our roster. Plus would you hustle in TB? That be one Organization these days I'd want to leave. So Howie go get the guy from your alma mater now Please. Dude is a legit playmaker and was one of the key defenders earlier in the season vs Carolina who stopped them on the last play on the TB defensive stand

Nervous.  If Pats would have won last week it would be a different story.  Bill is a whole other beast both after a bye, and after a loss... and they get both this time.

Bill is 14-4 after a bye week.  He is also 41-11 after a loss.

We only open up as 3.5 point underdogs though so anything could happen.
yea those stats probably are right in line with his average w/l regardless.

77% win rate after bye, 78% after a loss

74% for his NE career.

He's merely at 67% in away games though.....

I am forced to start Wentz this week with Stafford nursing a broken back.  I just hope your Eagles come out fighting and plays a good game vs NE.

Saw this stat: Seattle is 8-0 in last 8 east coast 1pm games.
2016:  Lost to Saints in final 1pm game
2017:  No away 1pm games
2018:  Beat Detroit and Carolina
2019:  Beat Pitt, Cleve, Atlanta.

So looks like 6-0 in last 6 but none of those 6 teams were very good.

One of the beats tweeted it, and specified East Coast. NO isn't East Coast (it's CST), so probably wasn't included, but really should have been since it was still a 1pm EST game.

Ahh fair enough.  Just curious where he got that stat.  Even if you take the Saints game out, they lost in the playoffs @ Carolina the year before so wouldn't have hit 8 games.

Either way that's better than I thought they'd be, but it does seem almost all of those games are against pretty sub-par teams.  They've done well out East this year for sure, but I still think that early game favours us over a late game.  Russel is good in primetime and I'm hopeful that he struggles with a loud building that early in the morning.

1pm or 8pm, I think we've got a much better chance at winning the SEA game than the NE game, and if we lose both it's going to be a really tough road to the playoffs.

Yes I keep forgetting the "morning games" are 1pm in the East.  But it would feel like 10am for the Seahawks,.

Am really hoping we win this weekend but not counting on it.

35 rushes. Hammer them with Howard and get sanders out matched up on linebackers. They are the strength of our offense this week. Assuming the evil one takes away the best player—that’ll be Ertz. If Doug gets away from the run we are screwed. Also think Wentz should have his legs unleashed as well.

Here is every game Seattle has played early in Eastern time zone since 2005: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/play-index/tgl_finder.cgi?request=1&match=game&year_min=2005&year_max=2019&game_type=R&game_num_min=0&game_num_max=99&week_num_min=0&week_num_max=99&game_time=early&time_zone=-1&temperature_gtlt=lt&team_id=sea&c5val=1.0&order_by=game_date

They have won the last 7 and 10 of last 11.

They lost at Carolina in 2016 in the playoffs, so 6 in a row technically.

Only one of those 6 teams was above .500
Not to rain on the Philly parade, but your team is currently 5-4 and faces New England this week. You could be 5-5 into the Seahawk contest and even though they do have to travel east, it seems they do that pretty well and will be coming off their bye week for this up-coming week 12 match-up. Eagles are definitely in "play-off" type matchups the next two weeks.

What parade are you talking about?  Everyone in here has said how tough the next 2 games will be.

   lots of teams were nervous of him. Hindsight 20/20 of course. Granted, he's exactly what we're missing in this offense :(
Yeah I can't fault them for passing on him when most other teams had the same issues on him. Wasn't there a foot injury or something in there with him? I'm not as mad missing out on him as I am on other guys.

Eagles should run whole series with Miles Sanders taking direct snaps in the wildcat formation. Closest thing they can do to imitate what the Ravens did to the Pats.

how you were saying that most of their East Coast early wins were against below .500 teams primarily and yet the Eagles could be at 5-5 if they lose to the Patriots.

Yes, 5-5 still isn't below .500.  Just saying most of those teams they beat were very bad teams, so that slightly diminishes their "8-0 at 1pm" thing.  It will be a tough game, expecting eagles to be favoured by 1 or 2 maybe.

These next two weeks are without a question the hardest remaining games.  That being said, if we can pick off one of Pats or Hawks, we are set up to run the table on everyone, minus Dallas and finish at 11-5 (beating Dallas) or 10-6 (losing to Dallas).  One of those gets us into the playoffs and one of those do not.

That week 15 Dallas game will be our playoff game.

Agree.  The rest of the schedule is very favorable

The Eagles’ only competition in the division is a team that lost to the Jets. That’s not only embarrassing, it’s huge for tiebreaker purposes. The Eagles have wins over the Packers and Jets, and the Cowboys lost to both. If the Eagles and Cowboys split the season series and both finish with 4-2 division records, the team with a better record in common opponents wins the division. If the Eagles take care of business, that will be them.

Atlanta beat the breaks off NO. Any given Sunday.

If we rise to the occasion, SEA should be our only loss the rest of the season and we should finish 11-5.

I think this is right.  Get to Brady early, run the hell out of the ball and the game should be ours.  Wilson is too much for I’m afraid.

I hope that you win the next two, but I suspect them to both be tough and could derail your stretch run. Good Luck for two wins the next two weeks!

I don’t think we have much of a shot at winning both games, frankly.  Amazingly, I think we have a much better chance at beating New England than Seattle.  These next two will tell us what this team really is.  Like I said I could still see a situation where they lose both, then sweep the rest of the season (including beating Dallas) and limp into the playoffs owning the tie breaker with Dallas.

Can you imagine if we had Metcalf and Clowney? Hell even Gordon. I was ok with not going after Ramsey but for the life of me I don’t know we didn’t get clowney? Maybe Howie did make an offer but Seattle outbid. I don’t know....

Maybe give Calloway a shot? I know he has speed
I'd give him a shot but he'd apparently facing a 10 game suspension he appealed. It's for a tainted TCH test. I have zero issue giving guys chances do to testing positive for pot. Rather see them get suspended for that then get addicted to opioids and other pain killers. Even if we take him and he's suspended he'll miss the last 7 games (Not sure if post season counts) but say we miss the playoffs he'd only have 4 games left next year. He's young, has talent, experienced Returner specialist as well and more speed then any Wideout not named Jackson in the group. It's worth a shot

Arriving in Philly in a couple hours, super excited for this weekend.  Anyone going to the game?

I'm sure I've gloated about having an in with the team enough before, but I'm having lunch with the whole D-Line tomorrow afternoon in their team room at the Novacare (as soon as they finish up practice).  Will be with them for about 2 hours and usually some of the offensive players come in for some food too.

Any burning questions anyone has that I can maybe find out?  (And no I'm not going to ask Fletcher about the gun incident lol)

I have a question.

Can I come?

Watching this game tonight makes me thankful to be an eagles fan
Maybe I'm being a homer but the Steelers future is actually looking pretty good given that Ben will be back next year and they have one of the top young defenses in football.       But this year is a lost cause with Rudolph at QB.

It's all about the qb imo.  Its simple but that's kinda the truth

Ask if anyone can get Nelly to catch the ball..

Not sure the exact seats... we'll be in the club seats that the players/coaches can buy for friends and family.  I think we were in M14 last year.  We have field passes for pregame though so I'll be down on the sidelines for warmups!  Will you be there?

Hmm... I could potentially ask if I could bring someone else.  Might be too short notice though.  Next year I probably can!
Take me so I can get out of working a Sunday. Thats like Jail time and being forced to watch and Cheer for Dallas working Sundays right now....

Rueben Frank Reporting Eagles bringing in The J-Train Ajayi for a workout Friday. Not good for Howard

Jay Ajayi, who hasn’t played football in more than a year, will be at the NovaCare Complex Friday for a workout with the Eagles, NFL Network reported Thursday.

Ajayi, who was huge for the Eagles down the stretch during the 2017 Super Bowl run, has been out of football since his rookie contract that he originally signed with the Dolphins in 2015 lapsed following last season.

He's battled injuries most of his career but he's only 26 and when healthy has been terrific. He has a 4.5 career average, 5th-best in the NFL since 2015 among running backs with at least 500 carries (behind Mark Ingram, Christian McCaffrey, Ezekiel Elliott and Derrick Henry).

The Eagles acquired Ajayi from the Dolphins on Oct. 31, 2017, in exchange for a 4th-round draft pick. He ran 70 times for 408 yards and a TD with a 5.8 average in seven regular-season games in 2017, then ran 42 times for 184 yards (4.4 average) in the three playoff games, including 9-for-57 in the Super Bowl win over the Patriots.

AJayi was 45-for-184 with three TDs in four games last year before going onto season-ending Injured Reserve on Oct. 8 with the latest in a series of knee injuries.

Ajayi's 5.15 rushing average in an Eagles uniform is fifth-highest in franchise history, behind quarterbacks Michael Vick (6.7), Randall Cunningham (6.6) and Donovan McNabb (5.7) and 1940s running back Ernie Steele (5.18)

Ajayi made the Pro Bowl in 2016 for the Dolphins with 1,272 rushing yards and eight touchdowns but has played in only 18 games since.

He hasn’t played since getting hurt against the Vikings on Oct. 7 of last year.

Miles Sanders and Jordan Howard have been terrific, but Howard and Darren Sproles are both dealing with injuries going into the Patriots game Sunday.

Sproles missed practice Thursday with a quad injury, and Howard has been limited in both practices this week with a shoulder injury.

Sproles missed the Vikings, Cowboys and Bills games with a quad injury. He played against the Bears -- 10 snaps on offense, 8 on special teams -- but apparently seemingly aggravated the injury at some point.

Sproles, 36, has played in only 15 of a possible 46 games over the past three years because of a series of injuries.

The Eagles already lost Super Bowl star Corey Clement, who’s on Injured Reserve with a shoulder injury of his own.

Because of his oft-injured knees, Ajayi probably can't handle a huge workload these days. But in a limited role a healthy Ajayi could could definitely help the newly run-heavy Eagles.
