Very curious how on 1/6/2020 you could actually say that.
Dude had major injury red flags 30 other teams passed on him at wll. You are either gonna look like the smartest guy in the room or the dumbest for taking him. I think they are still trigger happy doing the whole Sidney Jones thing and it not working out

I find it incredible that a top young QB got his head bounced off the turf and knocked out if a playoff game with no penalty for the player and there is literally no coverage of this in the sports media. If this were Wilson or Rodgers or Brady, hell if it were Dak, this would be the leading headline on all the sports shows. But its just shucks golly gee Carson getting hurt again. Oh well.

I'm more pissed today I think. Glad I got drunk during the game. I would have broken something otherwise.
This upsets me the most. It shows the lack of consistency and the bull#### of why these rules are put in.It's a bunch of CYA's. I got to meet Jermiah Trotter the other day thanks to an in I have with a cousin who went to SJ Prep where Trottier's son plays. We talked about some of this and he called these "safety rules" (In air quotes) absolute and complete bull####. It's to cover the NFL on the concussion lawsuits and ad more offense for the fantasy people and betters. Said he's talked to numerous former players and current Eagles and other NFL players who also called it bull####. We even talked about the lack of consistency of calling these rules with Bigger named players etc getting better calls then say if Kyle Allen was knocked around or even Wentz. Even said his buddy Troy Vincent admitted to him the big shots in the League office have told members down the line when talking rules make sure you call extra stuff or don't let things go on our Star like Brady/Rodgers etc. No one cares about Joe Schmo in MIA or Buff If theres a hit and wouldn't watch anyway.

I talked to my co workers son a few hrs after the game and he said the organization is not happy with the NFL's handling of this. Wentz's wife had to be escorted to the locker room do to the severity of the concussion at the time. Players and coaches are pissed at Clowney as well as the head official and his staff. I was also told that everyone from Lurie to Roseman to Pederson were livid with Goodell who was also at the game. And a lot of the players and coaches saw Josina Andersons tweets that they thought were totally unprofessional and Chris Long let her have it too. Her defense was even more embarrassing. The org isn't happy with Josina as she was the one who started the whole Wentz BS. Basically everyone in the organization is livid with the league. Some players were appalled CLowney was interviewed after the game by Anderson.

Overall the NFL just offers lip service on player safety and actions speak louder than words. Beyond me why the NFL doesn't have the College targeting rule if a player is penalized its reviewed and if confirmed the player is out for the game and if in the 2nd half are suspended entire first half of the next game.

When your arms are at your side and you lead with your helmet, there's no excuse. All the stupid rules in the NFL to try and protect players and they allow that to happen. Gonna be pissed about this one for awhile and I hope Seattle gets stomped in GB, or at least Clowney gets his.
Too bad we drafted Agholar over JuJu or Clowney would've gotten his already. Dude laid out Burfict after his cheap shot on Brown in that reprehensible Browns/Steelers game awhile back that Shazier's career ended on. Prime Jason Peter's would've done something too.

As a Packer fan I was mad when it happened.  I was mad after the game when the Packers lost, maybe due to not having a big back who could pound it in in goal to goal situations.  That said, not mad about it still. In the course of a season not really a blatant play. A bit dirty, a bit overly enthusiastic, but only by recent rules and developments in the game, not by history of the game. Not say a very late hit on a Q.B. who is retreating back and to the side by a guy leaping on him after taking two steps and breaking his collarbone.  Not spearing a Q.B. clearly going to the ground in the back of the head and eliminating him from a playoff game.  I believe Seattle fans would have been very discommoded if the shoe was on the other foot.
My cousin who works and lives in SEA and has Season tix (Eagles fan from Philly) because of co worker and friends has said Clowney isn't getting a lot of love in SEA. Said a lot of people have noticed his dirty play and hoped they didn't resign him this offseason. I'm sure there is a few SEA fans if CLowney had been ejected yesterday wouldn't defend it

Clowney playing the victim card.  What a tool

Watching the replay, it's obviously a blatant cheap shot.  He dove into the back of Wentz's helmet as he was going to the ground.  Speed of the game excuse doesn't hold water here.  You see players avoid this kind of collision every week.  Disgusting.
Clowney has a history of Dirty play. Tried to injure Foles last year when we played HOU too.

Yeah but the Juju/burfict incident happened in a regular season game (I'm still proud of Juju for that hit).  You can't lose your cool like that in a playoff game just to send a message.  The Eagles did the right thing by not retaliating.  Don't worry - that Seattle team that struggled to beat a 40 year old, crippled QB is not going to make a splash this year.  I don't even think they beat the Packers (who I also think is very overrated).

i was thinking the same thing, then i just saw Cowboys hired Mike McCarthy. I mean what an uninspiring hire, the guy was on his way out in Green bay for years before they finally canned him. Looking forward to continued 8-8 seasons from the Cowpokes
He hired Mike Nolan as his DC. The Packers won a SB and Rodgers was great despite this clown who makes Andy Reid look like a clock management Genesis.

Oh Don't get me wrong I understand the difference and I gained a whole lot of respect for JuJu for that play too. I just think these guys got really soft. At one point Peters finally Beats Clowney pancakes him and then helps him up? Seth Joyner and Barrett Brooks were fuming Post game at JP. Dude is beating you all game and hits your QB on a dirty play and you act friendly with him? JP seems to lost that fire he had when Foles got cheap shot by Chris Baker one of his first 2 seasons here. JP wasn't having any of it. Didn't seem like guys were upset on the sideline or confronting Clowney even after the game. Hell I'd have waited till after the game and got right in his face about that play. My seasons over at this point but I'm gonna make a point hey you don't do that to guys in this league.

Browns requested permission to interview Eagles’ DC Jim Schwartz for their vacant HC job, per source. Browns slated to interview him, Vikings’ OC Kevin Stefanski and Patriots’ OC Josh McDaniels this week.

Season Takeways:

1. Most important we found out Carson can be the real deal. He didn't pass for almost 4K by accident. However he missed some throws and needs to get better at screens. Also didn't run or hesitated too when he should've had the go and ran when he shouldn't at times. Better coaching will fix those issues

2. We found some solid guys in Baby Yoda and Greg Ward. Ward should be competing for WR3 next year and should have Return duties to keep Jackson fresh Next year. I think Davis/Burnett can compete for 5th or 6th WR spots depending on what we do at the position.

3. Our Rookies outside of Miles Sanders were really disappointing. I think Dillard can play LT (Its better then Peters which isn't saying much this point in his career) but I'm still nervous keeping him there. I don't think Sanders could hold up as a lead back but with Scott and adding a pounder would help. Id liked to keep Howard but his injury is very concerning

3. Josh Sweet looked good and should get more playing time. Timmy Jernigan played solid this year bring him back on a reasonable deal. Timmy/Cox/Jackson is a great 3 DT rotation and outside of Cox the two other guys compensate for each others weakness.

4. Play calling was too predictable or cute need to manage better

5. Mike Grohl should be fired and Josh McCown should be our OC next year

6. We need more depth and our Secondary needs to be rebuilt. Hopefully Schwartz is outta here. Dream scenario for DBs is keep McLeod and Jenkins, Sign Mills again, trade Jones for picks, Keep Strap as a Nickel CB sign McKenzie Alexander draft CJ Henderson, Sign Justin Simmonds, and draft a Safety.

7. Revamp the WR position. Keep DeSean but add another deep threat. Say goodbye Agholar and Jeffrey. Greg Ward, Sign Robby Anderson Draft KJ Hill and Justin Jefferson

8. Find a new aggressive DC

9. Been a Howie supporter since day 1 but it's make or break time

10. Figure out what to do LB and add Dline depth

11. Finally this team showed a lot of heart. I loved these guys effort and attitude. They did the city proud showed the right way to rep the City of Philly.

Why do we always have to lose games like this in such a painful way?  Just once I want to end the playoffs losing a game by a large margin that we didn't really have a shot to win.

We've lost a playoff game by more than 1 score only ONCE since 2003 (the 2009 Dallas game).  Our other 7 playoff losses since 2003 have all been heartbreaking close games.

Playoff Games since 2003 in reverse chronological order:

Lose by 8
Lose by 6
Win by 1
Win by 8
Win by 31
Win by 5

Lose by 2
Lose by 5
Lose by 20
Lose by 7
Win by 12

Win by 17

On the drive up to the game we were talking about worst-case scenarios for how the game would go and decided that a close loss with a major Wentz injury would be worse than a blow-out loss and bad game by Carson. That would mean 8 months of talking/hearing about Wentz and how he's prone to injuries.

How things actually played out were slightly better than the worst-case because it wasn't a serious injury like a broken fibula or another ACL. There's still some (moronic) talk about Wentz and injuries, but I think because it was a head injury from an illegal hit the narrative has been more about all the adversity they were able to overcome (and almost do so again) throughout the season to still accomplish what they did. So, I guess that's something

Ugh. I think Foles coming back to back-up Wentz would be a bigger circus than if the Eagles signed Kaepernick.
Yea I don't see that happening. Maybe Nick tags on in a place like Cincy or even KC. He can start some games so Burrow doesn't get thrown to the wolves. KC would be just as comfy as Philly for him.

We're not saying goodbye to Jeffrey
I'm not sure about that. I know the money is a problem, but this article makes it sound as though some of the best players (and team leaders) feel he is a problem. If true I suspect they find some way to get him off the roster.

Alshon has a cap hit of $15.4 million if he is on the Eagles next year.

If the Eagles are able to trade him, their cap hit is about $16.2 next year of dead money (the new team pays his $9.9 million salary).

The Eagles may have to pay part of his salary to make the trade, or they could include a draft pick with Jeffery to get the new team to pay the whole salary (The Texans did this when they traded Brock Osweiller to Cleveland).

If the Eagles cut Alshon, their cap hit is about $26.1 next year of dead money.

Right now the Eagles have $49 million in cap space and have 47 players under contract.

Based on all that has been reported about Alshon's complaints this year, I really don't see them keeping him around. I think a trade is the most likely result.

Apparently Danny Kennel was on the radio when Ike Rease was on and Reese roasted him yesterday big time on Wentz. It's nice having people like Long, Reese and others in the local media defending the the guy, former players and some big shots on National Networks

Yeah, heard that and then also later in the show some old idiot was ranting about how "If Wentz is a real leader, he doesn't leave that game. He plays after the hit." They tried for 2 solid minutes to get this guy to understand Wentz didn't have a choice and couldn't just throw people aside and go back in. Then the guy switched to saying he should have faked like he was fine, so they would let him back in 🙄

From what I've heard Jeffrey is person of Interest #1. I've also heard Agholar might be in the group and one of the reasons Brown was cut wasn't just because of poor play but started to involve himself in the Wentz hatred.

I do think we have one of the most knowledgeable fan bases in the league but we also have some of the biggest idiots as fans too. We have both extremes.

Ah the old school approach that guys were tougher back then for playing with injuries. Then when the guy goes crazy years later they just call them scum or whatever. I bet the caller couldn't hack his local beer league team. I hate these kinds of comments from older people. It's just pure lazy and ignorant and ill informed. It's like older people trying to label my friends and all Millenials when we're Gen X or blaming younger people for not going to college or have better jobs. Like come on College was more affordable and you were afforded way more opportunities then we got.

Either way this is why I hate when the Hockey crowd uses the guys play through injuries comments. Really sometimes it's just plan dumb to play through injuries especially head injuries.

In my experience every fan base is among the most knowledgeable, or so they say and so announcers promote when calling their games.  Just once I would like to hear the opposite.

Troy:  Well these fans here in ________ have got to be the dumbest _____________ this side of Idiotsville.

Joe:  Totally agree Troy.  The entire fan base is made up of folks who ate lead based paint chips for snacks as children.  A bigger collection of drooling idiots I have never seen.

Blame the Sports talk Radio culture in this town. I've listen to WFAN and other stations before and its nothing compared to what we get on the radio. Those are well informed and not just some hot takes or idiots calling in getting amounts of air time. We go for the hotttakes in this city not well informed. Remember when 97.5 got outted for using a fake caller to drive ratings? My Friend interned at WIP with Big Daddy Graham while in College. He told me a lot of the main callers like the clowns who call Cataldi's morning show religiously might be plants by the stations paid off for ratings purposes which I wouldn't doubt as all the company who bought WIP cares about is ratings and hot takes. Tony Bruno last year or so went on a rant on his podcast when Josh Innes got fired literally defending Inns saying how Gargano was behind his back 97.5 negotiating the deal to take his place and how WIP has a bunch of rats. Talked about the new company taking over for WIP and how all they cared about was ratings not good takes. Whenever someone brings up booing McNabb JD Drew Batteries and some other stupid #### fans have done here I look who the main culprit who started it was and Cataldi is always behind the ideas.

The worst part is I have a friend who listens to these shows constantly and his opinions on sports is ingrained with their idiotic banter. I also think Wing Bowl was one of the worst things in this city. I think its trashy and nothing more then more misogynistic neanderthal banter and an excuse to get drunk and miss work the Friday before the SB.

Heard a Skip Bayless clip of how most Eagles fans are and I kind of agreed with him lol.

There is no middle here. You either know or you’re just crazy. And it’s totally OK to be both at times lol

This Danny Kanell quote someone dug up, in light of his calling Wentz soft, was 🔥:

"This backup thing, I could do this for a long time and be happy with it... I'm pretty content making a good living, not getting pounded."

And I was looking around at some numbers and Schwartz didn’t do as bad a job as I thought, numbers wise. If he could develop a few on that side of the ball it could be scary

I’m more pissed today than yesterday. I can’t believe it.

I feel absolutely terrible for Wentz. I’ll be the first to admit that half way through the season I worried that he was damaged goods. That the knee and back injuries were going to rob him of that extra gear and elite skill set he exhibited in 2017. But my God his maturity and grace under pressure have elevated him in my eyes to one of the greatest athletes this town has ever had. No matter how this season turned out, I see only positives for number 11.

I know a lot of you can’t stand Mikey Miss but he came totally correct yesterday and echoed what we think in here and totally crushed the fools that called in questioning Wetnz’s Toughness. Thankfully in the 45 minutes I listened, they were the minority.

I get we are mad and bummed but that said, I hope Philly fans doesn’t disgrace themselves  the way Saints and Vikings fans have acted butthurt the last two years. We are Philly fans. We are used to this sh/t.

We all we got—we all we need!

I think the issue with his defense while he's been here has been mostly situational. Overall, yes, things look good when you look at the numbers. But it's the how, and when, the defensive calls/performance come up short that is often frustrating.

Think of how different things would be if the offense "only" put up 4 TDs and a FG in SB52 and lost 33-31 to a Patriots team that gained 613 yards and never punted?

I don't think we are realistically going to get rid of both of our Co-ordinators after a year we won the division.  If I had to choose, I'd get rid of Groh 10 out of 10 times.

Agreed both won’t go unless Jim upgrades than it’s possible. Read a lot or Kellen Moore possible coming here though if Dallas gets rid of him.

Agreed. But I don't think either are going anywhere. Don't realistically see the Browns hiring Schwartz and I think the run at the end of the season, and the injuries, will help them convince themselves Groh sticks it out (unless someone they really feel they can't pass up becomes available.)

I actually wouldn't mind Kellen at all.

And ya I don't think Scwartz gets hired elsewhere.  I know he's got issues but I honestly am good with him back.

Giants making waves! 🤣
Yep the 3 teams in our division didn't waste any time hiring coaches.  Surprised they went so quick.  Our div now has:  Doug Peterson, Mike McCarthy, Joe Judge, and Ron Rivera.  Interesting mix of guys in there, and they all own a SB ring.

I would be surprised if anyone would trade for him:

Overpriced, Injured, older, and potentially/allegedly a locker room distraction.  Don't see alot of teams lining up for that.  given the cap hit, I think Eagles keep him and try to salvage  some value from him.  They need to sign or draft a primary receiver.

Jeffery, Ward, JJAW, Jackson will be here.  Add a free agent like Robby Anderson.  Thats probably it.  After next year, Jackson and Jeffery should be off the books.

I often wonder how readily an upgrade could happen if Schwartz was replaced. I admire the fact that perceptually he blitzed more this year which was an adjustment. How much has he been hamstrung by the lack of talent at LB and CB? Everyone takes notice of the practice squad on offense but how about the LBs and CBs?

I'm more concerned throughout his career can you name me 3 guys he actually developed that had impacts on his Defenses? At the same time I could tell you probably 10 guys Jim Johnson developed who made huge impacts here

I just saw a Video of Saints fans throwing trash, beer cans food etc as the Refs exited the field and barely a peep from the National media the last 2 days about it
