"Take a look at the last two scoreboards," said LSU redshirt senior QB Joe Burrow upon being asked to revisit his prediction from this summer that the Tigers offense could regularly score 40, 50, or 60 points, writes Sports Illustrated's Ross Dellenger.
Player and program transformations to the magnitude of what's gone on with Burrow and the LSU offense are rare. Last season, the Tigers were a ball-control offense that just hoped Burrow could avoid mistakes and let the defense win the game. Now? LSU wants to scare opposing defenses with a high-octane, explosive spread passing offense that gets the ball to their high-end wide receivers as often as possible. Burrow, perhaps the biggest beneficiary of the change, seems ecstatic with the offense's change of direction and the early success they've experienced.
