***Official Joe Biden Campaign Thread (2 Viewers)

The Ukraine impeachment leak was always meant to hurt Biden in the primary.  Not sure if a Republican leaked it to hurt Biden or if it was someone from within the party to move up the ladder.  I can’t see how more people don’t see this.  He was the one candidate Trump would have had major difficulty beating, and the biggest beneficiary seems to be Warren, the one candidate I don’t think Trump could lose to.  Maybe Trump intentionally started this whole thing?
That's an interesting theory.  I actually think Biden is a very favorable matchup for him.  The Dem establishment appears content to throw him under the bus.  I think the leak was designed to expose Trump's efforts to investigate the origins of the collusion investigation, and to put Zelensky on blast in the event he might actually think about helping him.  Look at the poor guy in his meet with Trump- this guy didn't ask for all this.

Russiagate was a bizarre confluence of interests which distracted from DNC cheating/corruption, advanced interests of MIC in Russia/mideast policy, served to delegitimize Trump's election, and rehabilitated the establishment wings of both parties.  Ukrainegate is interesting because it reanimates much of the same sentiments.  It's another controversy ignited by the intelligence complex.  It seems like they've been at odds with him the entire time, which, like Trump or not, I've always found that very troubling.

It's clear that Trump's 2020 run will hinge largely on grievances from the collusion investigation.  The initial 'favor' wasn't to have the Bidens investigated- it was to find out the role of Ukrainian intelligence during the 2016 elections.  There's a very strange geopolitical alignment between the Clinton/Nuland state dept. (a stone's throw from neoconservatives like Robert Kagan- Nuland is his wife) and the far-right political elements they backed in Ukraine.  Biden helped bring home the Maidan massacre they sponsored in Ukraine.  The Ukrainian govt even went out of its way to provide assistance to the Clinton team in the 2016 elections.  That weird, antiRussian PropOrNot outfit that WaPo mysteriously boosted in 2016 was credibly linked to Ukrainian intelligence.  Viewed this way, it's as if the system is lashing out against any sort of cursory investigation into itself.

It doesn't seem like there's any good guys here.  It's another protracted conflict between different ruling class factions, and we're all just along for the ride.

He doesn't. The sooner the Dems can move past this guy, the better. The dude's a creepier, more compromised, decreased mental capacity Dukakis waiting to happen.

It is funny that Mueller's testimony was such a tremendous flop that Trump felt emboldened to act like an extremely dumb mfer with a target painted on his back.

Yes.  Clearly, for the first time, Donald Trump is feeling emboldened to act like an extremely dumb mfer.  And that is because of Mueller.  Good point.

I get asked to be a board member regularly but even I know enough to say no.  Hunter is not smart about much of anything, including corruption, so my guess is he acted on Daddy Dearest’s instruction.
You know it's bad when even Bill Maher admits how bad Biden/Ukraine looks.

It doesn’t look bad at all- not for Biden. It looks lame and pathetic for the people who keep bringing it up.
What are you talking about?!?!  Even the liberal media is starting to come around on the bad Biden optics.  Biden is done for.  He is a terrible candidate.

He’s a done for candidate who, according to Real Clear Politics, remains the front runner. IMO he remains the most likely nominee, though it’s a lot closer than it was. But I think even most people who disagree with me on this would place Biden in the top tier. Done for? Lol

Sadly, he isn’t even close to done.  He’s still top-2, if not the clear front runner.

The Dems are just such a dumb party, collectively.  Hillary and then Biden.  Ugh.  What a back-to-back disappointment.  Two historically bad candidates.

Looks like it was meant to take down both Trump and Biden.

Then they have the nerve to run around blaming actresses for losing

Biden should take one for the team and just saying he's stepping away from the race to eliminate the distraction so people can focus on the Trump corruption.

To be honest, there isn't a lot of polling in the past 4 days.

Biden wont be president. The guy is slightly less of a trainwreck than Trump. He offers nothing to over half of America and the DNC isnt defending him like they could be.

Done. Done. I just see the writing on the way sooner than others.

But Tim. While I have you here.  Who are you backing and why?

My favorite candidate is Pete Buttigieg because I am the closest to his views. Next is a tie between Amy Klobuchar and Kamala Harris. I will take Biden over Warren, Warren over Bernie, any of them over Tulsi, and Tulsi over Trump.

Appreciate the honest feedback. I find it difficult to talk dem policy proposals with many on the board because their only reason position is F Trump.

I don’t think that’s fair at all. Nor is it fair to label most conservatives, or even most Trump supporters, as F Liberals.

Most Americans have much more in common than they do differences. You’re not going to hear that right now because we’re in the middle of an impeachment crisis, and even before that, Trump is incredibly divisive, so we all choose sides. But you’ll notice that in this forum about 90% of the arguments we have here are not about real issues.

You're seeing it from your perspective.  From what I see after a debate, I'm critical of say Warren in the Warren thread, people argue and then tap out saying they support so and so more.

Substitute Warren with any other candidate and it will be a similar response. More often than not things are reduced to I'll vote the D nominee over trump.

Feels like talking policy is pointless are now.

My #1 goal this election is the preservation of democracy.  Thus, I support most Dem candidates over Trump.  There are numerous policy positions I disagree with candidates on (eg Yang’s $1K per month to everyone, the  absurd debt elimination plan many seem to support) - but at the end of the day, my #1 goal is far and away to see the US maintain a stable “democracy.”  (Quotes added in case someone wants to nitpick if we are a democracy, a republic, etc)

I think the republic is too far gone with the status quo. In my eyes the media is no longer objective and that scares the heck out of me.

"Stable" means different things to different people.

I invite you to have a conversation/debate, over issues. We can leave all personalities out of it.

Fully appreciate your perspective.  I grew up in a very “red state” environment.  Most of my family and many friends feel just like you.  While I don’t see it the same way, I know lots of folks feel that way.

Here’s my biggest hang up:   Many folks who feel that way about the media.....get all their info from Fox News.  Study after study shows Fox News viewers - in general - a) get most of their info from Fox, b) have the least accurate “info” of any sub group.

That’s scary.  And as someone who appreciates facts and logic, it’s really tough to take that group seriously, as a result.

Note:  I’m not implying that you are uninformed.  Or part of that sub group.

Appreciate the discussion.  I don’t have all the answers.  Not even close.  And again, definitely understand where you are coming from.  The status quo definitely isn’t perfect and hasn’t been for a long time.

South Carolina poll:

Biden 37%

Warren 17%

Sanders 9%

50% of those polled say they could change their minds. But as of now, the black vote is still holding for Biden. He’s still the front runner.

I agree, Biden is still the front runner but he is trending down.  Warren is nipping at his heals and trending up.

Except that the dynamics haven’t changed. Biden’s strength is blacks and people over 50. Warren is trending upwards but not that much in these two groups, and that’s what she has to do to win. It may happen.

Just heard a debate between Michael Moore and Walter Isaacson on Morning Joe about this topic.

Moore says we need young people, and energy, to beat Trump. Joe is a nice guy but doesn’t bring it. It’s gotta be Bernie or Warren to excite the base.

Isaacson says the base will be there to get rid of Trump. We need a big tent guy to strip away independent and Republican votes. Biden is flawed but our best choice.

This is the question that we need to decide...

She doesn't have to, but it will be a hard fight without the those groups.  But the dynamics of the race are in fact changing, impeachment is a huge deal and will adversely impact Biden.

I haven’t read that first piece but I’ve seen the numbers. It may be true but I’m skeptical because there were similar upticks reported for Bernie in 2016 and, other than Michigan, it never materialized. It turned out that younger blacks supported Bernie and these were unreliable voters, particularly in southern states. So it could be different this time around but personally I’ll believe it when I see it.

Hey man, I hope you dont think I attack you. I like hearing your thoughts. I think you are dead wrong when you make definite statements, but you do you.

I wasn’t offended. When I wrote “leave personalities out” I was t referring to me or anyone here, I was talking about Trump, Biden, all politicians, all political scandals, etc.

I’m thinking about starting a thread devoted to political issue discussion- which ones do you find to be a priority, how would you address them, etc. No mention of specific politicians or Republicans or Democrats, no talk of scandals like Ukraine, corruption, etc.

Over/under is 8 replies before Trump gets mentioned.

Issues thread is a great idea

Very high probability that thread would turn into the usual garbage quite quickly. But I do think it's worth a shot.
