Can you imagine if Joe Biden won the nomination.  A year of trump playing a video of Biden admitting to doing the exact same thing we thought Trump was doing with Russia but with Ukraine.  And if Biden were to win we would have impeachment hearings for him.  It would be a mess.  The sooner this Trainwreck steps aside the better.

How is it the same thing again?

The Ukraine impeachment leak was always meant to hurt Biden in the primary.  Not sure if a Republican leaked it to hurt Biden or if it was someone from within the party to move up the ladder.  I can’t see how more people don’t see this.  He was the one candidate Trump would have had major difficulty beating, and the biggest beneficiary seems to be Warren, the one candidate I don’t think Trump could lose to.  Maybe Trump intentionally started this whole thing?

I've been thinking this lately. I will say it's likely both, politically investigating Biden is something indeed Trump would do and want as would using it in the general, but this backdoor buzz campaign is exactly Trump's MO. My guess is that might be why he really released the call memo to start consternation about 'scandal' surrounding Biden, which he is desperate for.

Maybe not the exact same thing but there is no pretty way for a campaign manager to paint this.

Biden was talking about the need to remove a prosecutor in the Ukraine that was not doing anything by everyone’s accounts.

Trump was asking a foreign country to “do him a favor” and give him dirt on Biden.

Biden’s son had a business model built around either a) actual access to the White House or b) the perception of access to the White House.

Where did I read about this or hear about it? Which biased right wing media arm?  The New Yorker.

Is there proof that Biden was knee deep in it?  That he was aware and involved?

No.  Not irrefutable proof.  But the optics don’t look good.

People can decide if they want to vote for Biden in the primaries.

This is about Trump and his abusing the office. He asked a foreign country to help investigate his biggest rival, “do him a favor”.

I agree.

But - thats an issue with Hunter Biden, not Joe Biden.  Unless there is evidence that Joe Biden was working on behalf of Hunter, its a non-starter to me.  I habe lots of other reasons I don't like Biden as a candidate - this does not even register.

On top of that - when you compare Hunter Biden to Don Jr, Ivanka, and Erik - its not even close to which family is trying to make the most from a political position in the family.

As usual the complaint is always loudest from Trump about things he and his family are even more guilty of.

Don't we have a treaty with Ukraine on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters?  Didn't BHO use this treaty to have Manafort investifated in 2016?

Yes. President Obama had Manafort investigated because he anticipated that, at a future time when Obama decided to once again run for public office, Paul Manafort would be his competition (it may seem amazing that Obama would be able to figure this out, but a man who can, as an infant, falsify his country of origin because he knew that someday he’d be President has powers greater than you and I.)

Also, despite the treaty you mentioned, President Obama chose to bypass it and made the request informally by phone, asking Ukraine to work with his good friend LeBron James who was on the case.

OK big mistake by Biden:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.foxnews.com/politics/biden-giuliani-tv-news-possible-corruption.amp

He’s asking the networks not to put Giuliani on the air. This makes you look weak, Joe. Makes you sound like Trump. Let this guy spew his nonsense and refute it with the facts. But don’t let him get in your head.

This request bothers me more than anything Joe Biden has done to this point in his campaign. Now I’m wondering- does he have what it takes?

That's an interesting theory.  I actually think Biden is a very favorable matchup for him.  The Dem establishment appears content to throw him under the bus.  I think the leak was designed to expose Trump's efforts to investigate the origins of the collusion investigation, and to put Zelensky on blast in the event he might actually think about helping him.  Look at the poor guy in his meet with Trump- this guy didn't ask for all this.

Russiagate was a bizarre confluence of interests which distracted from DNC cheating/corruption, advanced interests of MIC in Russia/mideast policy, served to delegitimize Trump's election, and rehabilitated the establishment wings of both parties.  Ukrainegate is interesting because it reanimates much of the same sentiments.  It's another controversy ignited by the intelligence complex.  It seems like they've been at odds with him the entire time, which, like Trump or not, I've always found that very troubling.

It's clear that Trump's 2020 run will hinge largely on grievances from the collusion investigation.  The initial 'favor' wasn't to have the Bidens investigated- it was to find out the role of Ukrainian intelligence during the 2016 elections.  There's a very strange geopolitical alignment between the Clinton/Nuland state dept. (a stone's throw from neoconservatives like Robert Kagan- Nuland is his wife) and the far-right political elements they backed in Ukraine.  Biden helped bring home the Maidan massacre they sponsored in Ukraine.  The Ukrainian govt even went out of its way to provide assistance to the Clinton team in the 2016 elections.  That weird, antiRussian PropOrNot outfit that WaPo mysteriously boosted in 2016 was credibly linked to Ukrainian intelligence.  Viewed this way, it's as if the system is lashing out against any sort of cursory investigation into itself.

It doesn't seem like there's any good guys here.  It's another protracted conflict between different ruling class factions, and we're all just along for the ride.

It is funny that Mueller's testimony was such a tremendous flop that Trump felt emboldened to act like an extremely dumb mfer with a target painted on his back.

Yes.  Clearly, for the first time, Donald Trump is feeling emboldened to act like an extremely dumb mfer.  And that is because of Mueller.  Good point.

I get asked to be a board member regularly but even I know enough to say no.  Hunter is not smart about much of anything, including corruption, so my guess is he acted on Daddy Dearest’s instruction.

He’s a done for candidate who, according to Real Clear Politics, remains the front runner. IMO he remains the most likely nominee, though it’s a lot closer than it was. But I think even most people who disagree with me on this would place Biden in the top tier. Done for? Lol

Sadly, he isn’t even close to done.  He’s still top-2, if not the clear front runner.

The Dems are just such a dumb party, collectively.  Hillary and then Biden.  Ugh.  What a back-to-back disappointment.  Two historically bad candidates.
